I've been flying taildraggers for decades, and that's the way to land them. I used to own a J-3, and believe that wheel landings look so most majestic.

If the cause was a momentary loss of fuel the engine would windmill and restart. There is a tremendous amount of mass inertia in a radial engine, combine that with the windmill energy of the propeller and the engine will keep turning until you slow the plane down.

The Waco referred to in this video is not the city in Texas. Waco (sounds like Taco) is the airplane, a 1938 Waco EGC-8. WACO stands for Weaver Aircraft Company. Waco built biplanes in Troy, Oh from 1919 to 1947.

@o7levi I suspect the high pitched noise is the gears inside the starter colliding to use the inertia the two men generated in order to get the engine started.

Installed a turbo alternator and odyssee battery - no electrical system.

Seen this vid at another location. Did you get your electrical system installed???? I would like to talk to you!!!!

Crank till the plane is shaking and prime till your sure it's flooded. Then get lucky. Color me impressed with your hand prop start!

How did you guys get this to work??? Our N3N will start by hand prop within 2 tries but yet on the inertia, we can go all day and nothing!! Is the spark advance working??
