Here we are again, outside that lil' old cabin, playing "Dough Roller Blues" by Sonny Jones. Sonny Jones was a North Carolina player who recorded four titles in the mid-late '30s. I liked the song cause there's a very unusual mysterious chord between verses. The song basically focuses on the topic of making bread, although it could also be talking about something else... ;)

"Your Mother's Son-in-Law" is a number written by Alberta Nichols and Mann Holiner that was recorded by Billie Holiday with a band led by Benny Goodman on 27 November 1933. It was Holiday's first recording. We love that song and it's been In our setlist the last two years. The video was shot by Jafet Blanch and Carles Nin on a cozy winter evening around the fire and the sound was recorded using...

Whoopee Blues by King Solomon Hill (1932) Found that version somewhere where he sings with a lower pitched voice, now I can't find it anywhere, I guess it was take 3. There is also another version by Lonnie Johnson, same lyrics but different guitar work.

That's how this music should be played....!!
Fantastic!
You have a really great voice. Thanks for referencing the original, I managed to find it on an old Blind Boy Fuller (various artists) album (Volume 2).
@@OtterMan4u Thank you!
You can roll my dough any time x

So glad I found this channel!
Walter would be proud brother, this is fantastic!

Pura esencia... Cómo siempre... Por cierto que afinación sueles llevar?
Gracias!, aquí es afinacion estándar
Spot on man!!!
Dude, I love your stuff!
Fantastic! :-)
Beautiful as usual
Not bad, a bit too caucasian though in my opinion.
And your opinion is based on what? I'm going to give you real information instead of assumptions. Neither of us are Caucasian. We are 90% Spanish. Anyway, why would that be a problem?
@@OscarWolf84 *Too Spanish. Not a problem if you are okay with looking like posers.
@@jasongiroux1153 So playing the music you love makes you a poser? Should everyone ONLY play the music originated in the country they are born?
@@jasongiroux1153 I love posing with my washboard, and share my love to this music. Are you taking care of the afroamerican musical legacy?
@jasongiroux1153 Dude, you better show some respect to these two musicians, they are so passionate about what they do, tradition is being respectfully carried and they put a lot of effort in doing great renditions like this one. ¿What are you doing except sitting behind a computer and spreading your negative comments? Are you doing anything at all for the Blues Culture? Are you even a musician? Get a life.
Awesome brother
That’s way cool brother
Love how the washboard player looks over at the beginning like he didn’t know you were starting. Been listening to this 10 times a day for the past few days
Damn that’s great ! Presentation and execution on a simple 3 chord song
Superb ! ! !
Wich open tuning ? Chords ?
This is so good.
Muito lindo.....show
Another fantastic Fats Waller tune which I'd not heard before - he wrote many that he sold on when he was hard up and which became hits under somebody else's name.
Would you guys come to Boston and play this for me? I'll pay your way
This is what we were put on earth to hear
love the old school microphone with the resonator, its like the sound is going through 2 resonators. amazing representation of the blues.
Man you really have the blues in you, I thought it was an old blues. Great song.
Absolutely incredible. Never thought anyone could get as close to the original as this
Amazing feel
When i saw the thumbnail i thought this was a stranger encounter on red dead redemption 2 great video and even better music
Nice!
Mesmerizing.
Superb
Splendiferous! Can't even put in with more words. Y'all killed it.
Another song I can add to my favorites. Songs like these make me happy 😊. A question though: Where do the altered lyrics originate from? I think 'that's when I was your lover, now baby you just found another' works so much better than the original 'that's when I was a novelty' which didn't sound quite right to my ears. Anyway, you guys are the best. Looking forward to the next one 👍👍. Greetings from Belgium.
Thanks! check out Nat Gonella's version that's where I got it from. Cheers
Nice! What kind of mic is that?
