    A lil tip for drilling holes is use a #2 centerdrill. It acts as a small pilot and will also chamfer for a larger hole for you. Also, try using aluminum instead of steel. Easier to cut, bend, and braze. www.amazon.com/Drill-America-Regular-Combined-Countersink/dp/B00FXBP3IU/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?adgrpid=55667181323&dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwz6_8BRBkEiwA3p02Vd2YNHTbqbKBLvNapLcb2XamePxr_J6YxAW2QuwcJZZkTcMal20FgxoCc4EQAvD_BwE&hvadid=274740995023&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9019569&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=10983435602285214707&hvtargid=kwd-301957537882&hydadcr=20377_9690700&keywords=2+center+drill&qid=1603069486&sr=8-4&tag=hydsma-20

    Hand sanitizer without the beads is best. It will slip on easy, and because it is mostly alcohol, it will evaporate and the handlebars will grip better than something that won’t evaporate.

    Great video series. I have a 64 with a 1776 and Kadrons that I need to pull to replace the tranny mounts and this is giving me a little more info that in others. I plan on using my motorcycle jack as well, hopefully that will make things easier. Can I ask why did you remove the alternator? Also, when I got my car it had vented valve covers too, that was the first thing I removed as it isn't really needed. Just vented the motor up to the bottom of the air filter.

    • @honeydofordummies3043
      @honeydofordummies3043 5 лет назад

      I've used the motorcycle jack a number of times before and it works great. The only difference is that it is higher and the car had to be jacked up higher. I have to remove my alternator because, by the time I pull the engine forward to disengage the drive shaft from the flywheel, the alternator hits the rear apron on the way down. My rear apron has been removed and welded back in and I think we didn't place it exactly right. I actually have my trans out right now and am replacing it. I'm hoping I'll have the time and funds this summer to do a series similar to this on replacing the tranny, mounts, and clutch. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed!

    How is the project going?? I got. Bonnie myself that I’m working on. How did the handlebar worked for you in terms of comfort? I put mine without extensions and man! It’s a pain, in 6’1+ and nope I ordered some extensions I want to see if that works otherwise I’ll have to get a M handlebar or something. I’m installed bar end mirrors but after seeing yours with the stuck mirrors I’m kind of digging that style lol. And visibility is better with those. Btw you should have a blog or IG account.

    Dude, I really hate to say this ,but your budget build turned into a cheap build, come on. clamping the tube in your vice to make a flat spot is down right childish not engineered out, come on you can do better.hell take the parts to a friend or even local bike shop, tell them what your doing an have parts welded up. hell even if it costs you 20.00 bucks at least it would look pro and you put some thought into it. Always look for a similar way to do something but makes it look and function the way it's suppose to.

    hairspray the inside of the grips before install. This makes them slide on easily and gets sticky when it dries to keep them in place. Trick I learned as a kid.

    Thank you for posting your Engine removal series. You clearly know your way around that engine. I appreciate the effort and time that goes into a video like this. I hope you continue to make videos and that your channel grows. If I may offer a few suggestions. I recommend reducing the length of transition from the intro to the time that you are speaking. :25 to :35 , ten seconds of darkness is a bit too much. I recommend reducing that transition to possibly one or two seconds. Additionally, the length of your intro beyond the first video in the series could be shorter (tighter, shorter clips) around 10 seconds or less. At 3:34 to 3:35 you have another 10 seconds of darkness, you could put in a slide show or some B-roll to fill that space to go along with the voice over. After the end of the video it is just dark for another 10 seconds. and finally I recommend consistent titles for a series (i.e. Engine Removal Part 1, part 2, part 3, etc.) That way the RUclips algorithm can properly queue your videos and we can get them one after another. I hope this is helpful and taken in the spirit it is intended. I wish you success.

    Thanks for the video. I bought the same style of handle bars for my Bonnie and I am about the same height as you. I was wondering how you liked the bars in comparison to the original bars you had as far as comfort goes. Did the risers really help or were the original bar night and day when it came to comfort? I haven't put mine on yet but I was getting a feel for where they might end up and it didn't feel comfortable at all. Thanks

    Very cool. I've got a Street Twin and am thinking about doing the same thing to the handlebars. The set up is different from the T120/100 but I"m hoping it's just as easy an install as you've shown. Was there any difference the length of the wires? Did you have to adjust them once you were done or anything like that? Longer videos are fine, as long as they hold worthwhile information. ;-) Thanks!!

    • @honeydofordummies3043
      @honeydofordummies3043 6 лет назад

      It was much easier than I thought it was going to be. I didn't have to change the length of the wiring as all. The only thing I did, and I'm not entirely sure it was necessary, was undo then tidy back up the harness coming out of the headlight with some fresh zip ties. Before I rode I did go to full lockout to make sure I wasn't going to pull anything off but I didn't have an issue. Good luck on your build and thanks for watching!

    So far, so good! .. I did the same with a 2006 Bonneville. .. Buy a cheap grinder from Home Depot and chop and form that front fender. You may be able to find a used rear fender eliminator kit as well. Maybe take the wheels off and have them powder coated or paint them?? .. I am aboput 3 years in on my build and I am never done. I am fortunet enough right now to be able to afford some engine modifications. Going to install a bore kit and have some head work done. .... Keep up the good work!!

      So little faith my friend! I only ask to make sure we are both referring to the same part. In different places and with different levels of formal education and experience things may be referred to by different names. See my comment to Dino below for an answer.

    • @honeydofordummies3043
      @honeydofordummies3043 6 лет назад

      Dino Zografakis See the following link for what it looks like finished if you haven't already: ruclips.net/video/Jq_iKt1LiMQ/видео.html To answer your original question, I didn't use the original frame under the seat for a few reasons: 1) I don't have a welder. I could have borrowed one but I don't think the average guy has access to one. More importantly, I don't think the average guys can weld a nice looking bead and not burn holes in the frame of his bike. 2) The ends of the frame under the seat come together in a "V" shape at the back of the seat - with the "point" of the V at the back. To mount a hoop to the original frame and not have to do any crazy bending I would have had to cut off almost 5 inches of my frame on each side to where the frame was going straight backwards parallel with the bike. I didn't want to do that as everything I've done to the bike can be reverted to original easily - cutting the frame wouldn't be. Again, to do it correctly and build in the correct seat support and a place to mount a license plate where I wanted it - See that video on my channel for reference- I would want a welder. Also, if I did that I would want to have cut a hole in the hoop for the light strip to be mounted flush and not be held on my two black zip ties. Some things must be given up. 3) I don't have a garage so almost everything I do has to be done in a day or at most a weekend as I can't leave anything out that isn't bolted or locked down. If I had a big enough shop with all the correct fab tools and didn't have to pull stuff down from the attic or out of the shed when I wanted to work I could probably get a lot more done. 4) When I made this video the weather was beautiful and I ride every day. Cutting the frame takes away from riding time. 5) This cost me less that $10 not including the light. Hope this helps clarify. Thanks for watching and for the critique. How would you have done it differently/better? I always open to learn.
