Will and Alex Travel
Добавлен 27 июл 2015
Are you the designated (or self-appointed) trip planner? *Standing ovation* Alex here -- I see you! I plan all of our trips from start to finish. I know how much work (decision fatigue) it is. Will and I have been traveling internationally together for the last 10 years, and have spent the last 5+ years living abroad.
I love helping my friends plan their trips, so we thought, why not share what we know with the world? We aim to make travel itineraries and guides that are straight to the point. We'll share our research, give some suggestions, and leave you with the flexibility to create your own experience -- that's the fun part!
If this sounds like you: 30 something, no kids, with some money to spend (but care more about location + experiences), then let's connect! We don't travel like we used to (so fast-paced!) but prefer to settle in a new location for a couple of days. We like history, thrifting, snowboarding, unique experiences, beer, and meeting new friends along the way!

We blowing up shibuya with this one 🗣️🔥🔥
Hi thanks for sharing all the information on Niseko, how do I book The Red Ski House? There's no email address or telephone number provided. Thanks.
You speak too fast, slow down for goodness sake.
Your trip are expensive for me 😮
Thanks for the video! I'll be going there in two months!
Very cool! I would absolutely love to do this but never knew how it would actually work. Have been a fan for years. Love Japan and the people there. Thank you so much for posting this!
❤❤❤❤❤awesome
Thank you for this informative video! I’m going to try skiing for the first time, is there an option where you can rent gear at this resort?
Hi! That's awesome I'm glad we could help. I just Googled it, and it looks like a store called Malbun Sport has ski and gear rentals and it looks like it's the only one at the resort. You can always ask your hotel as well if they know of anywhere!
@ thank you so much! ❤️
We´ve been to Tokashiki and Okinawa Main Island and Miyakoshima is on the list for the next time in March 25.
It's soooo pretty!!
Would want to go to Okinawa because of your video! Kudos! 🙌
I've been to live sumo 4 times in Japan. I am a big fan. The seats at the Fukuoka arena are molded plastic and were quite uncomfortable for me. I am not a large person at all. I strongly suggest bringing a seat cushion. Your video was a great overview!
Thanks so much! Are all the seats like that? Or it is just in Fukuoka? They were very uncomfortable!
Thank you for sharing! Can you share the dive shop or whatever that took you to swim with the whales?
You're welcome! I know that reef encounters and aloha divers will do it and speak english
Thank you! I plan to see this if i can this year.
You're welcome! Have lots of fun!!
wiw love and miss kobe its my home for 5 years
It is so cool there, we'd love to spend more time there? What was your favorite thing to do there?
Yawn
You went in late december - did you get a good sense of the snow coverage overall. We're headed there in mid december which i know might be a bit earlier but I understood you still can spread the odds across the different resorts :) Great video :) Pete
Thanks for watching! The snow was decent around New Years but it’s usually a much deeper base in January/February once the temperatures drop further and they get more regular snow storms. Either way, there should be plenty of snow at least on the main slopes, but the back country may be a little dicey that early. Enjoy the trip! It’s a beautiful place.
Thanks for all the infos! We are going there end of October :)
Did you like hakuba or niseko better?
I would recommend Hakuba if you’re solely focused on hitting the resorts. The Hakuba Valley incorporates about 9 separate resorts so you get a lot of bang for your buck. Niseko is really just one mountain that is technically 3 separate resorts. However, Hirafu is a fun place for a trip with friends because it has great bars and restaurants and it’s very walkable. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you guys!!!!
This is exactly how I wish travel RUclipsrs reviewed places. Clear, concise, clear voice and delivered exactly what information/images I was looking for.
That's high praise, thank you so much! We have lots of videos on Okinawa and more on the way. Let us know if there's one you're looking for or have any suggestions!
Good
That's great
Thank you for this video - super helpful
Nice video, where is the snorkeling post at 10:40? Thank you
Hey thank you! 10:40 is at Gorilla Chop
Nice, informative, easy-watching video. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your comment, glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the video how was the weather in November? Was it very cold? We want to go but worry about the weather for our baby. We live in Okinawa.
Hi, thanks for watching! We like the winter and colder weather, so we think it felt fantastic. I think it ranges near 45-60°F in November, so definitely colder than Okinawa in the winter. We wore coats the whole time, but it wasn't freezing cold. Inside the sumo stadium I think the temperature was comfortable and we could take our coats off. A lot of the Christmas markets in Fukuoka open in mid-November, so the weather adds to the holiday cheer. Hope this helps!
Thanks for all the tips! My boyfriend and I are going to Japan and we are undecided whether to stay in Ishigaki or Okinawa (+/- 3 nights). Which do you recommend more?
You're welcome! That's a tough one! I asked Will and he immediately said "Ishigaki" but it definitely depends what you want to do! Ishigaki is more island vibes and feels more remote. You can still have that remote feeling in Okinawa, but you'll have to drive a lot farther to get to it. We think if you're already doing (or have already done) mainland Japan, that going to Ishigaki would feel super different. If you're wanting more "things to do" then Okinawa has a ton of options.
Hi Alex, loved your video, so comprehensive and detailed and I really appreciate the variety in your recommendations! I'm curious if you know how we should go about booking the classes/workshops you mentioned? Okinawa ceramics are so unique and I really want to attend a class/workshop but I can't seem to figure out how I should go about booking a spot or even just making enquiries.
Hi! Thank you so much for your comment, it means a lot! I haven't done this yet, but I see that you can make reservations online. I just searched 'pottery making workshop Tsuboya Okinawa" or in "Yomitan pottery village" and there were a few that came up that I can tell you about. Another option is to message ceramic studios and ask who they would recommend you do a pottery class with. You could even ask your hotel once you book something! When I search it, some that come up are: ikutouen in Naha. If you type in Ikutouen Tsuboya Okinawa, their website should come up and they have have a tab for experiences and classes. If you search for "tousingama" pottery classes, their website has several options (even making your own clay, kind of cool!) The one in Gala which I mentioned is tougeikoubou_ti_da1 on Instagram and it looks like you can inquire about their classes through the Gala website. I think the studio is called Ceramic art studio Tida. I hope this helps! If I do do a ceramic class I'll be sure to make a video about it :)
Hi, when was this filmed?
Hi! Last November in 2023
Hi Alex, thank you for the recommendations, looking forward to visit Okinawa in 2024 again, greetings from Zurich, Switzerland, George
Thank you for watching George, I'm glad it was helpful!
your video is very good but seo problem so viwes are less
Thanks for the video! For the tailor: Do you recommend it? Were you in touch with them before you arrived? Do they require an appointment?
Hey! We would recommend it, but we will say it’s not the cheapest place.. it might be one of the more expensive ones. She did show me the thread they use vs. the brittle thread “other” places use, so the quality should be better. We are still happy with everything we got made though. We only had 48 hours, so I was in touch with them before to make sure they could do it all. They told us when we could come in, but I don’t think we had an appointment per se, just whoever was free took us in (and they had a lot of people waiting to help customers). I hope this helps!
I went there at Christmas and it was the most pretty place I’ve ever been to I have a penthouse there ❤
Thank you so much for all the info. We're going there this November and this video has been really helpful to help us plan ahead :D
That's our goal! So glad it was helpful, and have lots of fun!
Great information thanks!
Very helpful, thank you. How far is Sanube Wall from Naha Airport area? Also, have you snorkeled Sesoko Beach?
Thanks for your comment! Sunabe is about 40 minutes drive from the airport.. but during rush hour could take more than an hour. We haven't snorkeled at Sesoko before but the Google reviews say that it's a good spot!
Great video. I learned a few tips for my upcoming trip in early 2025.
It is Saigon the name local cherish.
23 is high
Dangit! So I wasn’t lowballing with $20 😅
PS= I forgot to say THANK YOU for highlighting star gazing as a bucket list activity. Yaeyama islands have SPECTACULAR night skies, if you're lucky enough to have no nocturnal cloud cover when you're there. Absolutely incredible to see. You're the only vlogger I've EVER seen include this in their video. I cannot understand why it's totally overlooked by people visiting and filming the island for professional commercial purposes as it's totally free and an unusually impressive thing to see and experience.
You're welcome! It is so beautiful there! Do you have any stargazing spot recommendations? Or it's just everywhere?
@@willandalextravel Yes! The best places I've experienced and thus highly recommend are: Western Australia (you'll need to drive for a while outside of Perth) or anywhere in 'the bush' in Australia, a few hours north of Melbourne is spectacular. Then a more organised experienced would be Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii as it involves some research, booking and organising. I remember Joe Rogan talking about how disappointed he felt driving to the summit for viewing, seeing the clouds until suddenly POP, out the car came ABOVE the clouds to be greeted by the most stars he's ever seen in his life. The one place I've never been but would LOVE to hear a personal review of is the Elqui Domos stargazing hotel 'pods' near Coquimbo in Chile. Love to know if it's worth flying all the way there, if the sky is even better than WA, Hawaii and Ishigaki (which was truly awesome when we went; we drove far into Banna Park area and pulled up next to a field where the port lights were no longer polluting the vision.)
@@willandalextravel Mauna Kea, Hawaii; Rural Australia (all states-- don't fall for the overhyped insistence on WA); Elqui Domos, Chile. Ishigaki is by far one of the best.
I'm heading back later this year and remain vigilant when it comes to deadly marine life (or avoiding it, to be more literal and specific). How common is it in reality to encounter jellyfish (Habu especially, I'm concerned about) on the popular snorkelling beaches of Ishigaki, I wonder? Sea snakes? And lastly, rip tides. The signs on every single beach there are so terrifying it's a wonder anybody swims in the waters at all. What do you think? Any reassuring 'pro tips'? Loved your video and wrote down your beef dinner recommendation. Thank you.
Hi! I'm sorry I don't know much about the wildlife there or how common it would be to see the habu jelly, even though summer is their "season". When we were there we were lucky not to see one, and I think we only saw one sea snake (super poisonous and curious, but usually not aggressive). Have you looked into the netted beaches? Like Sukuji Beach or Sunset Beach? I'm also seeing that Maezato Beach (open to non-visitors of the ANA Intercontinental) also has a net. You might have to look at reviews for other popular beaches to see if they have nets.. I agree the amount of poisonous marine life is kind of crazy! If you haven't yet, I would look up snorkel safety and how to identify a rip tide. You might already know this, but some things we do are: always snorkel when the tide is coming IN, never when it's going out. We also use a compact flotation device or a flotation belt (lots on Amazon). We usually carry a bit of white vinegar with us in case of stings.. and we wear reef guards for the sun protection as well as if we have a run-in with a stinger. And yessss!! Native Deli is the best, we still talk about it!
@@willandalextravel Thank you for leaving such a thoughtfully composed reply crammed full of interesting suggestions and good advice. I'm currently shopping for a lightweight stinger suit/rash guard and wonder how thick the material REALLY needs to be to prevent nasty jellyfish tentacles from doing their worst. And lastly, we DID check out Sukiji beach but it's laughably shallow. I suspect that will be the trade off with every single beach on Ishigaki that has reassuring jellyfish protection nets in place; we'll be safe but we'll also be swimming in a gigantic bathtub essentially. Still, I'm grateful they have some places where even nervous swimmers and young children (and their parents) can feel safe. I'm glad I found your channel. I wish you every success with it.
I live in Garmisch Partenkirchen ☺️
You're lucky, it's so beautiful!
Where exactly was the parking at La Spezia? Getting mixed messages… free? Or how much? Great vid ! Mahalo!
Hi! We were there a few years ago.. so not sure if this is true anymore, but when we were there the street parking was free in this exact location. We parked on Corso Nazionale, directly east of the "Parcheggio della Stazione" on Google Maps. It's where Via Fontevivo goes underground, that kind of curvy bit of road. If you use the satellite view, you can see there are painted spots along the one side of the road on Corso Nazionale. From a week ago, someone on Google commented that the parking lot is free.. but then someone else commented about a payment system, so I'm sorry I'm not sure! Some people have also commented about their cars being broken into here so I would definitely be careful, although we were lucky enough to not have a problem.
I think they should try clone and realive him. He has pure genetics.
Ooh Im so excited to do the boats and bike through the rice fields! Thanks for the tips and resources!!
Any photo limitations?
Hi! We were openly taking photos/videos on our phones and using our GoPro and there were no issues. If you're bringing anything crazy I would check about that with the venue ahead of time!
Good vid, looks like you guys didnt get to stay near happo which is unfortunate, id say goryu is definitely one of the more difficult places to stay in hakuba. if you ever go back i have some recomendations.try stay near happo as you said booking is competitive in hakuba but sometimes you get lucky. Places to eat id recommend, Ramen Tottsuan epic ramen hard to get into with too many people, Maeda for lunch soba, Sobasyubou ZEN amazing cold soba and "japanese vibe", Yamagami huge gyoza plate with 30 gyoza and pretty good curry and although im reluctant to share this one honestly KIHACHI place is run by a family and its amazing in my opinion. Make sure your booking otherwise your very unlikely to get seats to eat anywhere at a decent time you can just ask your accommodation staff they will usually be able to help. Don't bother going to the Australian-washed bars like Blizzard, check at Hakubar instead it's tucked away under the shoe repair shop. If you are a powder head Goryu, 47, and Happo arnt the place to be, head out to Tsugaike or Cortina you will probably find more tree runs and backcountry off-piste. onsen recomendations are Kurashita and mimizuku. Hope you guys had fun.
Hey! These are AMAZING recommendations thank you so much for taking the time to share. We're planning on another trip there this winter and we will definitely keep all of this in mind. Did you have a car? Or just the bus system?
When traveling to Osaka, I recommend joining one of my meetup events. It’s a rare opportunity to meet and talk to locals in English.
That's a great recommendation, thank you! We're planning a trip to Seoul and are looking into joining one there. We have never been to one before.. what would you say to someone considering attending one? Do you use conversation cards?
@@willandalextravel all events are different depending on the organizer and participants.I recommend checking out the group page you plan on attending, hopefully they have pictures so you can have a glimpse of what you can expect. Some groups around my area use conversation cards, I don’t. My events are free talk and participants don’t have a problem sparking up a conversation.
I went to Diamond Beach for the first time last week. Absolutely beautiful location to dive/snorkel. My son (10) was able to make it about 200-300 yards off the beach with me. At the right time is good for beginners. There's a drop off out there as well but we didnt make it out there. It's definitely a go to frequently spot for us now.
Awesome! I'm glad it's a good spot. We'll have to go this summer :)
They also want to charge those who walked to the 5th station from the bottom, and those who took other trails to the top. That's why they check wristbands when you take exit through that gate.
Ooh good to know, thanks!
