Mann - The jaat guy presented only his side of story regarding reservation issue. People were against jaat community bcoz they were demanding special privilege but other communities believed that jaat community is not backward so giving reservation to them will be unfair to others. There is already so much reservation and adding more communities to that will only cause friction in society.

The founding fathers of Islam (and none were mothers) designed Islam to (a) EXPAND and (b) not CONTRACT. So, they continued with the concepts of “conversion” and “apostasy” from Christianity and added three more concepts to make sure that no “believer” stepped out of line. Additional features added to Christianity:(a) NO more sects; (b) no more leaders (messengers or prophets); and (c) the practice of Fatwas. As the laws of evolution would have it, Islam split into two main (sects) firqas soon after the Prophet’s (PBUH) death - and now there are 73 or so firqas -- . and there are and have been both vocal as well as silent “ex” Muslims (despite the fear of severe punishment). Contrast these concepts and procedures with a much earlier believe system developed by the inhabitants of the Indus Valley and the Gangetic Belt.There are as many sects in Hinduism as there are Hindus - and there are no “ex Hindus” hiding in safe houses for their safety. 😀😀

I think Mann is good at putting his thoughts on religion/athiesm. But he should refrain from talking about caste oppression being from a privileged and feudal caste. Islam (as a belief system) has certain internal tensions. Some of these tensions were by design (e.g.., gender inequality, oppression, cruelty) . And the founding fathers were not sophisticated enough to foresee the consequences of other tensions (flaws that were introduced by design). The result is that Islam is causing a good deal of social, inter-faith, inter-gender and inter-nation dysfunctional issues -- not to mention the fact that Islam is also causing issues for its followers themselves!! 😢😢

This is the most comforting conversation (about Islam) I have heard for a long, long time. Thank you. Most valuable. Emotionally, I cannot utter anything against Islam and the Holy Quran -- because I grew up in a family of Sanatani Hindus where the Quran was often quoted or referred to with respect ( especially by my late father, highly educated and a successful lawyer in British India). However, I have been struggling with just one question: "Whe, O When, are we going to work out (find out) that Islam was cleverly constructed, designed and promoted as a belief structure BY MEN for the BENEFIT of MEN?". Women (= gender equality) did not come into their initial design of Islam -- and since the initial years, grand scholars of Islamic Jurisprudence have struggled to justify the gross inequality (even oppression and expropriation) of women built into the Quran and the Hadiths. "Gender Equality" was not a concern of the founding fathers of Islam -- nor even of those who adhered to the belief system propounded by Islam. 😢😢
