Neurodiversity in Business - Dan Harris presents at the Diversity and Ability Conference
Ahhhh look what Judy started, a monster!! If only born males & females knew we function either.. Masculine=logic, analytic, thinking & mind. Or Feminine=Heart intuition, or guided by & process emotions/feels. Also it’s worth saying too these extra added on satan inspired genders not male or female, is where gender confusing starts not knowing the above, also if a soul is in denial, or in delusion & avoiding their sexuality truth.
Thanks Dan, you're in a very noisy environment which can be really offputting for any neurodivergent viewer/employer so can be really difficult to hear exactly what you're saying and the subtitles are really not helping when spelling "neurodiverisity" as "new University business" I am being drawn more and more to these errors and whilst I may be a minority in my views and early in my diagnosis journey, I feel very strongly about getting the small things right especially for a community we are trying to enable :)
I love these videos - appreciate its a year since it was uploaded but great work guys!! Please please please update the subtitles!
Hi Elizabeth and Dan. I just discovered the existence of the channel thanks to your recent post. Elizabeth I saw you on the UN special in April. I was so excited to watch after Ben V told me about it. I too have a love of music. I look forward to finding your album. I often speak using music to express my voice, my emotions. My therapist has learned to understand me better when I use music to describe how I feel. I immediately thought of Peter Gabriels version of "My Body is a Cage" while hearing you remind us that just bc we communicate differently than most, we still deserve to be acknowledged and heard. While I do speak I prefer to type. It allows me to express my voice most clearly. Until Dan found me and invited me to TeamNiB I felt very confused and lost. Now I understand me better thanks to you and Dan. Because of you both my world is better. 💜 Thank you 😊
A small thing but a big thing I notice is that Elizabeth is the one in the frame when speaking. No effort is made to speed up her typing and Dan speaks to her directly. It is a sign of respect for Elizabeth and what she has to say and I love it. I've seen similar conversations around film making with deaf actors such as in Star Trek: The Next Generation S2:E5 Loud as a Whisper. Great to see this small courtesy. It makes a large impact.
I love that tng episode. It's almost as if the character had a chorus to speak.
This is life-changing!
Listening to Judy Singer has become one of my favorite past times. Thanks to Judy for influencing how we embrace our own neurodiversity within IBM.
This is incredible! What a great idea.
Excellent conversation - one reason the hospital cannot have my employed talents is because they require me to share an already small office. I need my own office as I have a lot of work and thinking to do in there!
Really sensible conversation about the ‘superpower’ debate. I agree that term needs to be used with caution, not a general label
Great conversation Dan and Alex!

Thank you, so glad you found it informative.
It was great to have this conversation!
We have similar stories Dan. I have a neurodivergent son and I was diagnosed just over a year ago with both too.
Keep it up!! #NAME? Promo*SM!!
Oh look. A psycopathic mass murderer.
adian' s presentation was great to listen to however the presentation was out of focus
Matt's reference to online screening is good that it provides more screening BUT, it is not not welcomed by some SENCo teachers, as they see it as an approach that is typically neurolinear (as Whitehall is).
This is such good information 🎊, collaboration is the way forwards 🚀- My personal 'cheval de bataille' is Academia so am here in ION France really working on that yet am so happy to have NIB & ION working on the corporate front for my 4 children 💝
Nice work Tumi! Thanks for sharing your story, and I'm so glad that you're co-creating as part of the Neurodiversity in Business programme ✨
This was a great interview - very insightful. Thank you Sam!
Great initiative
@12:45 when you suggest cutting out the #NEdrop - NeuroExpression Drop 🎤 - don't! We're all for the unedited NDer! It is reassuring to see human moments being normalised 🤓🥸 Love, Emerald Grace Activate Community C.I.C, CEO 😎
As an employer I am all about how I understand each employee as an individual whether they need reasonable adjustustment or just how I can get the best from them as an individual, neurodiverse or not, diagnosis or not. I feel I owe them that so they can be themselves and their well-being needs be met, as that's when I will get the best from them too. It needs to be a safe and open conversation in recruitment and conversation.
This means so much to me both personally and professionally. Thank you for raising awareness about this and the skills and experiences that can be utilised within the corporate world/workplace and your continued striving to raise awareness.
Brilliant opportunity Dan thank you for bringing it to the attention of businesses and the potentia PM. Excellent work.
This is very insightful- thank you!
Spot on, thank you.
Education, our schools, must make provision for pupils in accordance with their individual needs. Full stop. Diagnosis, in terms of giving a label, is less helpful and can even be a hindrance where schooling is concerned. This is because often it ends there: we now have the diagnosis so we know what the issue is. Then little is done about it and/or expectations are lowered. Diagnosis (a label) is not a solution in itself - it should be a reason for improving life chances through making adaptations or applying effective teaching and learning methodology to ensure that every individual makes progress along their own trajectory and by comparison with own prior achievement, not by comparison with others. Primarily, education must be about LEARNING not PERFORMANCE (which will happen with effective learning). And this brings me to assessment, which is the most misunderstood concept in education. To get a label (diagnosis), assessment of needs is required. Too often, this assessment (diagnosis) becomes an end in itself, meaning that we can now all relax because we know what or why a child has particular learning difficulties. I’ve said it many times, including in my doctoral thesis, and I will say it again that you cannot fatten a pig by weighing it. Unfortunately, this is what happens in too many schools - lots of assessments to assess perceived problems, and it ends there. Moreover, often no consideration is given to the fact that, for example standard assessment are just that “standard”, which means they have been standardised in accordance with “normal distribution”. This means making comparisons against an “average”. This may not be appropriate and wrong conclusions can be drawn. For example, let’s consider a sensory-type disability such as visual impairment. To assess a visually impaired child using standardised assessments may not appropriate because these assessments have not been standardised among visually impaired population. This is just one of many examples, where wrong conclusions can be drawn from various assessments because the concept of assessment is so poorly understood. Therefore, schooling must be about full inclusion and acceptance of neurodiversity, where greater personalisation of learning allows for greater individual progress. It must be about building that capacity for learning to support every child in achieving their best and becoming a sustainable learner. Education shapes attitudes and prepares for that next stage in life, which is eventually employment.
Love this
This is awesome and massive
love that starting quote, and the rest!

Bravo Jay! This is very inspiring story that I will be sharing. Dan Harris - I would love to connect with ND in Business as 20 year HR professional and ND advocate within Canada.
Go for it!- connect to Dan on LinkedIN
Really excellent segment. Absolutely hit the nail on the head. If you make your workplace neurodivergent friendly, you're improving it for everyone.
Absolutely love the mission behind Neurodiversity in Business! As a neurodivergent small business owner who spent the last decade within the business and retail industry, I can speak from experience when I say that the innovation & creativity we often bring to our jobs can be overlooked or not embraced due to it not being the "norm". Can't wait to see more advocacy in the future!
So proud to be part of this community!
Well done Tony, great so see IBM involved!
Ah.. she gets it. Great stuff.
Excellent ❤️
Very interesting, and thanks for sharing. I wonder, are you aware of any recruitment companies or professionals, who specifically try to sell and place neurodiverse candidates? I feel like that’s quite an important part of the jigsaw puzzle, to ensure more Neurodiverse people find jobs, and as importantly, the right jobs for our skills. So, do we have any champions in the recruitment sector?
