This is a question that I never had a good answer for when I first started working with miniatures. Tacky (museum) wax was what I was first told was the best to attach items to walls, because it is temporary. It works for some things but not others. I decided to trial different items and hope this is helpful to you.

what color u used for the shingles?
Hello, I used the brown shingle dye from Hobby Lobby. It appears they only have grey now, but I believe a water based dye may work. You would need to test it on a sample first.

That dollhouse that she's redid is so pretty I love the stained glass windows he's doing an excellent job very beautiful the way you did it I would love to live next to you just to see your doll houses cuz I love stuff like that I have a doll house I have to put together and when I see people do the houses it inspires me how I want to do mines on the inside once it's built but I know one thing I'm going to use beautiful scrap paper for the wallpaper for the dollhouse when I do put it together scrapbook paper is so pretty nowadays and some of it looks vintage that's what I love about the scrapbook paper it'll make great dollhouse wallpaper if you back it on cardstock so it won't mess up before you glue it down thanks for sharing your beautiful dollhouse with everyone

I have two Allison Jr doll houses that I am going to try to put together
That is exciting.
I have this house to rehab. The entire house built using hot glue. It is falling apart and I have dismantle everything and start over. I bought to learn along a Greetnleaf Roseberg. They were sold together for $30. Thankfully the Roseberg made with wood glue but painted a very bright mess yellow. They are my practice houses before I move on to my heirloom duracraft farmhouse. I love the Newberg. It is such a worthy save. .
Oh, that is a shame. I have one that the builder used some type of thick brown glue and there were lumps and bumps of glue everywhere. We literally had to use a sharp knife and shave off the glue. I think it took longer to get the glue off than it did to put the house back together. We have rehabbed 3 houses. I do think it is easier to build one from the beginning, but I am a rescuer! LOL

I feel a kindred spirit. My husband is so supportive. I thought the grandchildren could take some of them now, but they are too young and their parents asked us to keep them until they are adults. They are afraid they will get destroyed. Hahaha.
@@MiniaDay i built a house for my 3 oldest granddaughters. All 3 were basically destroyed. No more giving to granddaughters. The grandson on the other hand, kept his in great shape until just recently when he outgrew it and the building was regifted to neighbors Boys (it was a garage/shop with a waiting room/business office). My daughter knew how much the accessories cost, so those came back to me.

Ooh. I hear you. I put one down on a small table to show our grandchildren after I had finished it and within minutes they had ripped off the front porch, front door and windows. I wanted to cry, but I reminded myself they were very little and it was my fault. Our 2 grandsons are extremely careful as well as older granddaughter and the boys have helped re-build some of the houses. I think it helps them value all the work that goes into it.

Yes. I do. I am not able to add them. You have given me an idea. I will work on a before and after video, This will hopefully help viewers see how to fix a broken house as well as tape for electrical lights. Thank you. according to the directions & pictures the porch is even with the front of the front foundation edge. than at the back , the floor has a small over hang. And there is a small space between the front porch floor & the floor. Thats what the photos show. hope i'm right. Its glued.. You need to do it this way so the ft porch posts fIT flush. !

Thank you. I appreciate your kind compliments. I have been frustrated with instructions and that is one reason why I am making these videos with the hope of helping others as I learn myself. You can certainly use clamps. I re-use the tape, so I don't waste. I learn as I go and I appreciate comments, because that helps. I am hoping we can keep this wonderful world of miniatures alive for future generations and hope that we can impress our younger generation to be creative.

I started with one and displayed it in the living room, but quickly found that our youngest grandchild was a bit too curious and I had to repair the dollhouse. Now I have a bedroom that is part studio for art/crafts and a display room for most of the houses. I am trying to make a dollhouse for each grandchild. It is so much fun! What kind of glue is that? Sounds like your saying aliens glue
Aleen is the brand name. I hope that helps. I try to show the glue in the video to help with clarification.

Hi, question, is there trim pieces for the ends of the porch floor?

Way to go! Did you repaint? How did you take paint off shingles?
Thank you very much. Yes we repainted the entire house after repairing. The steps, stairs, doors, windows, siding and roof shingles were damaged or missing. The entire house was leaning and had to be righted. I cleaned the roof with Dawn soap (mild solution). I then used light sand paper or removed the badly damaged and put on new shingles that I stained to match but then painted the entire roof to make sure the staining would work. Hope that helps.
I just bought this model from someone and the inside is still just wood. And its musing the stairs in the front. Do you know what scale this dollhouse is?
Thank you. We did repaint the house once we finished the repairs. I used Dawn dishwashing liquid watered down and brushed it on and then wiped it off. I then re-stained the shingles. The shingles that I could not remove the paint, I replaced them.

I painted the porch rails first, because I knew the spacing would difficult to paint. If you choose to paint later, please let me know how it goes. I would love to see your house.

Aleene's has confused the glue buying world by calling most of their products "Tacky". The glue to use is Aleene's "Original" Tacky glue, although Gorilla Tacky glue and Elmer's Tacky Glue (not the old stand-by "Glue-All")are good too.
