The Kitchen Gardens is a home-based business focused on DIY, home and garden, and homemaking tips. Follow our journey as we renovate and improve our 2 acres in Redlands, Ca.
We have just begun our renovations and have many more plans including building a large greenhouse, a pool with views, a large warehouse to store our products, and an ADU that will double as a rental property. The orchard has been started but there are plans to plant in the next year.
Our hope is to contribute to the Kitchen Garden Revival in designing beautiful, one of a kind kitchen garden designs that connect us with the past when kitchen gardens were a part of every day life. Also, by cooking from scratch and designing lasting spaces, we can feel rooted to history and vintage beauty. Inspired by French and Italian architecture and vintage lifestyle. With a background in Interior Design, Founder, Jessica Kelly, wants to share her favorite kind of beauty, designs rooted in history and simplicity.

How to upgrade a table on a budget (Easy DIY)
I’ve been asking my husband how to upgrade our old outdoor table to something rustic but still make it look expensive and well built. This DIY was a perfect solution to our problem. And it turned out amazing!! I’ve dreamt of a table that we could place on the west side of our house, under our large tree next to the garden with those amazing views. From old table to old world modern table, this garden table remodel project was a group effort and so much fun! It was a dream come true getting this project finished.

You should do a wildflower mix or a pollinator garden
Yes, We love bees. It’s close to our garden so that would definitely be beneficial. I’m looking at some native pollinators. Milkweed maybe for sure?

I get out in the morning because i have to pee like hell. Or my kid is awake at 5am. Guess i don't have that sweet social media life.
That makes me laugh!! Not every morning is so sweet!! I’m usually rushed and doing practical chores. lol but these moments make it all worth it!
Are you so sure there's no fertilizer in that?
In the water, yes no fertilizer. In the garden bed, just compost, but he didn’t drink from that. I only use natural compost and no fertilizers in my garden.
@@Thekitchengardens Compost is compost. You want to look up volatile organic compounds and how they mix with atmospheric nitrogen to create ozone. Also, as the water splashes the soil it can release the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease.

Am searching info on potting apple trees. My farm land is not yet ready for direct transplant. I need to pot 4 mths seedlings. Thanks for this info. I only have sand from the beach. Can I use it?
@@jaycee9406 hi, you can use this method for any potting soil. I do recommend getting the richest top soil you can find though. If you have some on your property that is wonderful, but you may have to purchase top soil at the store. Also, I recommend buying organic potting soil for your pots if it’s a small amount. My method is best for large applications of soil and will save you money only if you are planning on needing a lot of soil at once.

My mom called these German Pancakes growing up. I’m not sure how but in Utah it is commonly misnamed. I lived in Germany and they definitely aren’t German 😂

Yes did that. But actually got more good advice from people on social. I learned so much about options and other peoples experiences. Vet just gave me some really strong meds to give which ended up not even being what I needed.
@@Thekitchengardens Tyen you really need a different vet ... My vet would test or have the chicken tested because chickens that just die for no apparent reason can mean that there is an even bigger issue

Hi lady!! Here’s the recipe: Sugar Cookies Combine Dry: 3 1/2 C. Flour 1 tsp. Baking powder ½ tsp. Salt Combine wet: 1 c. Butter softened 1½ C sugar 2 eggs 1½ TBL Vanilla Combine the dry and wet ingredients separately. Then mix together. (You may refrigerate before rolling out but it’s not necessary). Preheat oven to 400° cook 5-8 minutes.

"Did you know that plants make seeds, which can be used to grow more plants when the conditions are right?" Yes. Yes, I did know that.
Yes that is how all plants are made. True. But not all plant seeds are created equal. Let’s take a seed from a fruit tree. Only a small percentage of these seeds actually produce trees with good edible fruit. So this method isn’t true for all plants. In fact with most plants I know, seeds must be treated with special care in certain ways to create a plant. But cilantro is uniquely different in this way. You should try it! If anything it’s fun to do!
Or, you never have to buy cilantro...if your part of rhe 20% for whom it tastes like soap due to genetics. 😖

That tree is too small for a tree house.
Thanks for your comment! We plan on not using the tree’s structure for the tree house, but to build it’s own 4 point post foundation and build around the tree’s trunk.
