How to jump from a balloon and become a target at a driving range
after watching this entire thing i am further convinced that pineapple does indeed belong on pizza
Moral of the story? Save yourself that 7 bucks, and get the job done by the person who cares about your survival more than anyone else in the world.😮
if you are on short turnaround that isn't an option.
Waited about 10s too long to cut away
$7 refund, good spot.
Why people would mess with their main like that baffles me. I would’ve cut immediately
Wait it only costs $32 to go skydiving?
"only"
considering how much it is in the beginning.. yeah "only". cheaper than burninating all the people.. in their thatched roof cottages!@@BurninatorTheTrogdor
two line twists? shit.... congrats
I hope whoever packed that mess gave you back what you paid PLUS the cost to have your reserve repacked.
I was actually able to land a complete step through one time. Was able to twist my risers under my toggles to land the main safely, then I never used a packer again. The kind I had could have been missed a lot easier than this one could be. What a mess!
How many times on the way down did you wish you were the guy wearing the big, pink bouncy ball?
Why would you ride that thing for 500 precious feet?! Man I'd want every last inch on my side.
Watching belly jumpers attempt head down! I remember those days.
why almost everyone I have seen keeps the cut away cord with them?
Because they cost in excess of $100 to replace!!!
@@philo4422 that's a smaller part of it. I think the main thing is all the shit you'll be given if you drop them 😂
ich packe für 30 euro. qualität hat seinen preis. geiz ist nicht immer geil.
Can I ask as a newbie here, why did you wait so long to cut it?
Not really, when in doubt throw it out. Im not saying he took to long, but dont go telling ppl they need to make sure it cant be fixed first. If a newer skydiver reads this they might spend an extra 5-10 seconds under a bad chute trying to fix it.
@@game1boy1007 my guess is a new skydiver isn’t going to be taking lessons from RUclips comments sections. If they do, they are probably screwed anyway.
I’m a newbie too. But I would imagine you want to make sure you can’t fix it, because once you go to your reserve that’s all she wrote of it doesn’t deploy correctly.
The packer should have done a line check. It would have been so easy to see the step through. This is something we were all taught when we learned how to pack our chutes.
Can be done by the bag rotating around if not paying attention when closing the rig...
Pack job probably worth the $7 he paid
Holy shit !
should play lothery... 2 in one ;)
Looks like your partner previously owned my rig. What are the chances of that? Was it a blue, white and black canopy?
The rigger's licence should be banned for that, he didn't check lines properly!
you don't have to be a rated rigger to pack. hell you don't even have to be licensed or have a single jump to be hired as a packer.
What is a Step Through?
Edison Matos kind of hard to explain, it’s when the risers (the 4 bits that hold to parachute onto the backpack part ) have been step through. Caused by a few things but mainly by the parachute going over the top of you on landing or the skydiver stepping through the lines, thus causing the twist you saw. An example would be if you put a swing set through its self you cause a twist in the chains. I’m sure someone will correct me more but that’s basically it.
main canopy hunt - best sport ever...
"Body position" -the packer who packed your stepthru
😆
If this one packed the main... yep... he packed a malfunction for himself! When packing its the 1st thing you ALWAYS check...
Took about way too long to chop that one.
@cameraflyer I agree, he had plenty of altitude. It was an obvious no fix situation
Wouldnt you want the second chute out asap, in case it also has a malfunction you need to fix
@cameraflyer are you serious with these comments?
@cameraflyer ok. Well I think riding a malfunction for longer than necessary because you want to retrieve your main and freebag more easily sounds like madness. But that's just me, :)
@cameraflyer sounds stupid to me... why not ride it to AAD fire, just so you dont have to pull handles. Wont lose them that way
congrats!
Siempre los 7 celdas arreglando los errores de los 9 celdas.!
Almost a double malfunction. What a stupid sport.
Thats ok guy, you can stick to your bowling.
Extreme basket weaving!
Why are you here?
The wahoo at the end to try and convince yourself and everybody around that you actually hadn’t really just shit your pants
LOL you paid 7 bucks for that crap? Lol you got ripped. I've never met a packer that charged more than 5.
1 2 it’s 7 where I’m at.
@@theprivyninja 7 here too...
Or just don't be lazy and pack your own. its not hard and doesn't take more than 5 minutes.
Looks like $7 to me, for that small amount, bitch at yourself for not packing yourself 👍
10 over here
That scared me and I don't even know what a step through is but wow! I'll stick to flying helos as they're less scary.
Heli PadUSA it’s an error in packing. Basically the lines that should be in the front are in the back and visa verse.
And how does that affect the control?
I think you must ask your 7+7 bucks back!
Skydive City. Nice. Was just there Monday and going tomorrow.
It almost looked like after you fixed your reserve you calmed down enough to make sure and see where your primary landed. I wonder why some reserves are white. You would think they would want them to be optic orange or red to announce and emergency and be easier for potential rescuers to find.
@@mattgaetz5548 wow man...
They are usually bright single colors like orange, white and yellow for just that reason.
@@jasonwinchester2325 No, you mean main cannopies are bright colors, because these are the ones you lose when you cutaway. You don't loose a reserve cannopy so don't need to find them.
@@AnselmeSportVideos No I mean when you open your reserve and don't land anywhere near where you intended. I would also think seeing a bright orange chute in the air would also make it more obvious the jumper had trouble.
@@pschroeter1 For skydivers, seeing a bright white canopy in the air makes it obvious that the jumper had trouble. ;-)
you stow your own brakes and make sure you don't have a step through when you lay it down to be packed.
Naw, you pack it yourself, no complaints
I don't have a lot of jumps (about 60), and I've only had one mal - a minor line twist. It surprised me by pinning my head down to my chest, but I got the risers pulled apart quickly enough and everything was ok. The coincidental part of this; it was in ZHills, and I too had paid $7. I had a tiny little uneasy feeling about the packing shed (I chalked it up to being a newby there - not wanting to disrupt their system with questions), but hey, they must pack a LOT of rigs every day, right? Upon landing, I did have them pack my rig for the trip home, but for peace of mind, I had it repacked at the home DZ. I'm not placing blame on anyone, these things just happen. Now, a packer not finding a step-through?
the reason why i always pack my shit. i am not trusting no one else with my life. period.
@@freakychannel123 You pack your reserve ? You manufacture your own equipment?
@@vannilesoep na not reserve. even the primary chute, i have seen divers let packers pack it for em.
@@vannilesoep he said he's not trusting no one He was very clear
Never drop off a rig to be packed that has a step through..or any other problem. Take a moment and clear the step through yourself.
That's fair. BUT it does not excuse a "packer" not see the step through. Seriously did he/she not do a line check ? Basic stuff we were all taught when learning how to pack.
Can't tell you how many damn times a packer named "Rabbit" (because he packs in 3.5 minutes), has given this type of pack job to my friends @ West Point in VA!! Also, whoever is on this vid.....GET SOME HEAD DOWN COACHING IN A TUNNEL!!! GEEZ
Not everyone can afford tunnel time.
did you get all the line twists in your reserve because of the spinning when you cut away ?
Yup
better some line twists on a wing thats designed to stay stable under those conditions than to have a delayed reserve opening and end up in trouble . ive had cut aways under both and prefer the rsl to the point my new rig has a MARD system . anything designed to help save your ass is worth using ;)
@@mattpanther3981 did u have skyhook/Mard on that reserve deployment
@@sivonparansun No, did not have a RSL.
@@mattpanther3981 thanks for the response. I was trying to get a data point for mard line twists but it wasn't a thing
Whoo hoo..! I'm alive..!
What DZ is this..?
ZHILLS
as soon as you cleared the heavy twists you should have cutaway. that way it wouldn't have put you into a heavy spin.
You can always cycle yourself out of a twist!
That wasn't a twist though. He would've had to literally backflip to fix that.
@@thomasmartin5503 looked more like crawling up through lines/between risers
@@theginganinjaofficial or just ditch the chute, lol.
not true...try kicking your way out of a line twist in a spin.
why should this even happen? how hard is a line check ffs?
If i was not lazy and packed it myself it would not of happened.
just dont take too lightly that you are putting yourself under your last canopy just because some dill you paid cant be bothered to do a line check. Its not trivial, you are all out of options at that stage. Its unikely but one more thing goes wrong and you are dead meat because someone didnt do a line check. I'll stop preaching.
yarpos I had a step through on my AFF2 jump. It was on a PD210 so no twists and it flew straight but I couldn't find my toggles until I pulled the risers apart. Front was rear, rear was front. The malfunction flash cards didn't show a step through so I just stared at it awhile trying to figure out where the Hell my toggles were. Released the brakes and control check worked so I landed it. I didn't dare turn any more than I had to and landed without a flare. Just flew it into the ground and PLF. I learned to pack my own as soon as possible. I check my lines unlike the 'pros'.
matt panther +1. Never had an issue when I packed.
^^^said it best right here. check and double check your gear and pack your own chute.
What were you trying to achieve poking it until it spun up? It was clearly not landable, handles should've been in motion way earlier! Also, did the main land in one of the sewage evaporator ponds they have around Z-Hills? That sucks, man.
Yup I probably should of cut sooner. I got lucky it was in the grass about 15 feet away from the ponds.
what number cut away was that? you were completely cool under pressure
That was the first and hopefully the last. I usually try to deploy around 4k for a little extra air.
did you use the 'f' word? you owe beer buddy! :-)
That was weird for me to watch as I had a spinning mal at Zhills also and I have the same colour canopy as you 😂
Colors for the Cleveland Browns, no way I would jump with that. Bad mojo.....
