@@roadkilledpigeon no clue what you're talking about, but in this case when you leave when just as you're dying in a boss fight the game does a couple of things. It puts you in a safe spot such as outside the fog wall. Then maintains your state of death leaving you to die outside the wall.

@@ollaughingbeta2233 oh ok, yea I play on steam so its different, on there it kills you sometimes when you just close the game through the steam launcher and not the game's "quit to desktop" button. I've died while coming back from exploring too, not near boss arenas at all so it can just happen.

You have to complete certain questlines to unlock the summons. Specifically ansbach and thiollier can be summoned if their quests are done right
