How To Cause Duplication In Your Organization
Thanks for the vid! I just found one of these at my local Goodwill shop and I wanted to see if it's safe to use on a glass top stove. You clearly have success doing so and now I feel better! Thanks!
I can't believe after all that, you didn't show the colour of the stream from pot to cup. That's really the only way I can tell. If it's weak or strong.
I hate the grounds mine leaves ….
One very important thing you did not mention was that the Pyrex needs to be on a smooth burner such as a pyrex glass frying pan or iron skillet for even heat distribution. Heating coffee on a regular stove burner will create tiny stress fractures that weaken the bottom of the pot. Not everyone has a glass burner stove.
Thank you 😊 my mother in-law used to make us coffee this way and I didn't learn how to before she died. I found one of these at the tip shop for $2 and now can't wait to make a delicious pot 🥰
$2? And I thought I got a deal for mine at Goodwill at $12. 😁 Still a great piece and I love peculator coffee.
Does anyone use the wire heat spreader when using on a electric stove ??
Yes, I do.
You need a better speaker....can't hear you.
Seven minutes? I run mine as low as possible to keep the pump running for at least twenty minutes. I use just about half the grounds on a very coarse roast to really get the oils out of the bean
@Michael Williams, I agree, low and slow. That way you won't scorch the coffee. I usually perk around 15-20 minutes too. That tastes the best to me. Apparently everyone else who drinks my coffee as well because I've not had any complaints!
Thanks....I'm going to try that. Low and slow sounds like it makes a great tasting cuppa joe🙂
I am obsessed with this coffee maker. My Dad introduced me and it is by far the best I’ve had.
What brand is this? I’m trying to find either all glass or all stainless steel
@@rebecca9775 mine is a Pyrex
@rebecca9775 It is a Pyrex Flameware 7759-B oercolator. This is the large one. It also came in a small that made 2-4 cups and a medium that made 4-6 cups.
@rebecca9775 you also mentioned an all stainless steel percolator. I have a GSI stainless percolator I got on Amazon for camping. It comes in many sizes. I have what they call a 14 cup pot. I have a 15 oz coffee mug and I get 4 mugs full from that pot. Its great for home too. I have a Stanley thermos I pour the finished coffee into and it stays piping hit until I or someone else drinks it!
Great Video. My mother and Sister both worked for Dow Corning who made pyrex in Australia. We had these coffee makers in the 1970,s but i was just a kid and didnt drink coffee. I just bought one of these on Ebay in Australia and it had no instructions so i used your video. Great Coffee and i made 9 cups and used 6 Tablespoons of Costco Ground coffee. What a great move buying this. I also bought a 1920,s electric unit from America that is Art Deco and all engraved.. Steve in Australia cheers.
@steve driver, I have been using this percolator for more than 20 years and let me share with you what works for me. My stove goes to 10 and I never put in higher than 6. It may take awhile to get going but the end result is worth it. As soon as it starts perking I start turning down the heat. I like to get it so it is softly bubbling up. You don't want a hard perk. Once every 2 seconds is enough. As soon as I can no longer see the stem in the bottom of the pot I set my timer for 15 minutes. Thats just my preference, you may want to perk less than that. Never let it boil or you will scortch your coffee and that ruins it. Also, I keep it low enough so not a lot of steam is coming out of the spout. I keep my eye on it the whole time and lower the heat to maintain that sweet spot of percolation. To some people, this is too much work for a pot of coffee but to me, its fun! I have an electric stove and use a diffuser on the burner. I never used to use one but got paranoid after hearing some horror stories. After I pour a cup I pour the remainder of the pot in a thermos and it stays hot for the rest of the day! These Pyrex flameware percolators are a work of art to me and come from a time when making coffee was also an art. I am proud and happy to continue the tradition! Heres to great coffee! Peace...
@@bunkyman8097is your electric stove coil or glass top? I have a glass top stove and I’m not sure if I need a trivet.
@ccbagels77, I have an electric stove coil. I just read an article that said to use one on a glass top stove. I think I would just to be safe. I would hate for an accident to happen. Good luck!
Why do the glass percolators explode sometimes ?
There is a device to place on the induction coils on an electric stove top to prevent direct contact to keep from overheating the pot, The overheating will cause the glass vessel to explode. Gas stove tops are the best. These make some of the best coffee I have ever had!
I was just introduced to this coffee maker. I'm in loveee
They are awesome. It's like a time capsule from another era...
To me they are a work of art. So retro yet modern at the same time!
I love the sound these coffee pots make!
It's great to wake up to...
Can this work on a gas stove?
Yes, it is actually the best way. There is a device to place on the induction coils on an electric stove top to prevent direct contact to keep from overheating the pot, The overheating will cause the glass vessel to explode. Some of the best coffee I have ever had!
@@JettBlast Thank you.👍🙂☕
@@raymondcaruso507 No problem, friend. I own 2 x 9 cup and 2 x 6 cup. I love them, collecting Vintage Pyrex glass is a fun hobby.
Good morning. I have the same coffee maker but I don't have the second coffee filter that you put on the top. Could you give the size to looking for it on the net in France ? Thanks you.
Pika it`s 4 inches across in case you don`t know 4 months after posting.
@@dougm2250 thanks you for the answer. I try to make coffee without the filter on the top, but after 30 mn, it doesn't work. It's not easy to find différents parts in France. Thanks for your help. Alex.
@@alexterieur5981 I`m assuming this video was made with the 9 cup Pyrex model 7759B. That lid is 4 inches but if you have the 6 cup model it`s 3 or 3 1/2 inches across. Just measure across the top of the basket and you`ll know. Ebay sellers put them up for sale from time to time.
Great video. i clearly understood it by the way you've explained it. :)
