Santa's Village was the first franchised theme park chain in the world. Two were built in California, and one was built in East Dundee, Illinois. Founder Glenn Holland intended the Illinois park to be the flagship park of the chain, however two parks in Virginia and New Jersey were never built, making the East Dundee park the last of it's kind. Financial problems and the unsuccessful launch of the Typhoon rollercoaster prompted the park to shut its doors for good. In 2011, Santa's Village was revived as Santa's Village Azoosment Park.
This place has so many childhood memories 😢
All of my childhood memories seem to be gone. I remember the Christmas tree ride and the ice cold water coming out of the North Pole. My sister & I used to lick lick it along with the other kids. It was so great there!
My kids loved it. Will definitely keep on visiting until they are big enough for six flags.
I remember as a kid going to the North Pole and placing my hand on the pole. It was cold.
It’s still the same but in a mask version
I remember the big white rollercoaster that NEVER seemed to be open! I’m glad I was able to go on it once before it closed.
Typhoon was rough.
Does anyone remember the song, 🎶Santa's village and racing rapids 🎶
I was born in Elgin and lived in Crystal Lake and Cary Illinois when I was younger apparently we lived not too far from Santa's Village and I used to go there I was born in 1967 I am now 52 and this is neat to see left Illinois with my family when I was 4 years old and move to Wisconsin I used to still come down to Illinois to visit relatives in Crystal Lake and Woodstock but haven't been back to Illinois since I went on a ninth grade class trip to Great America
Made me cry. Memories of myself as a child there and memories of taking my 3 girls there. Thank you for posting.
Wow really took me back..loved it
Santa’s Village is back better then ever...new water park for 2020 and new thrill ride and pavilions. Book your summer outing by contacting groupfun@svdundee.com
We lived in Lake Bluff when it first opened in 1959 and went there through 1965. It's such a huge joy to see this park restored to its original theme. Lots of good memories. Thanks for posting this video.
nice
Glad to see the Park gets a new chance! At least one of all the abandoned parks was brought back to life, now at this place happiness is back in the childrens eyes! 👍
At least you in Illinois still have your Santa's Village, unlike ours in Scott's Valley California. An incredibly wet and rainy peak season Nov-Dec 1979 killed it...
At 2:31 says it all god bless.
visit my aunties dunkin donuts right next door!
I'm just glad to see it open again
:( now if someone would revive kiddieland
WeskerAlive Santa’s Village the fourth ride that was at Kiddieland. The Log Jammer Flume Ride is being refurbished and will be at Santa’s Village
Beautiful
i remember as a kid going on the big fire engine and riding around and putting out fire at the house with the hoses

IM GLAD THEY REOPENED JUST FOUND TODAY BEACUSE OF GROUPON. GREAT DEALS ON THERE FOR THIS EVENT
I went today for the first time in over 20 years when I was a kid! I had a blast! Santa was very informative and very passionate about the park! Great times and the best memories!
I used to live in Buffalo Grove, IL in the early-mid 70s not too far from this, and my family used to go about every few years or so. Good times . Back then the Western Suburbs of Chicago were like the Mayberry of the midwest. Nice people, safe, and good communities.
It was like mayberry thanks for reminding me ! Great times
So true. I grew up in Batavia and I still regard it as the best place ever. Sadly, with all the taxes, I can’t afford to move back.
BIG A+ for using Home Alone's "Somewhere In My Memory"
fit pretty good if you ask me
i remember some of the things. those were good times. glad they reopened it.
Did you illegally enter the park when it was closed to get pictures? How else did you get those pictures?
It looks like the park once again focuses upon what it was when it first opened...namely a Santa-themed kiddie park...When it had tried to become like Great America, that was its downfall, as it was never meant for that...Whomever re-opened it restored the original flair...Kudos...
I'm glad the park was able to reopen.
I miss the old santas village. frosty tea cups looking up at him and his big top hat always made me smile :,(
New owners
This shows even in the darkest places and hardest of times, there is hope. I have never seen a restored amusement park ever, this had made me so happy.
I'll admit I almost cried watching this video, I remember when I used to go here with my family. I feel really connected to a deep part of myself
Me to !
I always wanted to go but they would not take me
wrong
I LOVE IT!!!! MORE MORE!
They're open again. They posted this video.
I heard they closed Down for good...
The polar makes me think my brother use to play hockey there 15 years ago, now to this day i play paintball inside the very building they use to play hockey in, kinda freaky
i dont know if you would want to see the park now , as it stands 2/3 of the land was being used, the water water faith is undeterminded, 1/3 of it is a paintball park but still use the old track and old scheme, and 1/3 is a well best terms not meaning to offtened to owners but a kiddle carnival with those types of rides
Wonderful!! I can remember riding on the merry go round....all the horses were solid pastel colors!
I don't like the color of the tilt a whirl, pink yuck, any color but pink please. Everything else is fine.
For the past 2 days I've been skimming RUclips looking at videos of abandoned parks, malls, and other buildings sitting in the skeleton of what they used to be. This park, however, is the first one I've found that has been reopened and put back in its happy form. Congradulations, Santa's Village! (ps: I'd suggest seeing if you can contact Google and ask them to update their satellite pictures. Right now it's still shots of the place when it was closed.)
I grew up on Santa's Village & Kiddie Land. I was born and raised in Kane County, so I spent MANY days at this park through the 80's. I of course out grew it after a while, and though I didn't attend it anymore, a part of my heart broke when I drove by one day and saw it had shut down. Thanks for reopening it again as a park. Nothing will ever replace the original Santa's Village or the memories it gave me, but I hope the direction it's once again taken brings new memories to a new generation.
Excellent!!!!!!!!
