I have an old but fresh Marantz 63se, it gets out like 5mm but then gets stuck and when u help it a bit it can slowly get out. I cleaned the tray and slides. On the way back it goes in perfectly but again the last cm it gets stuck somewhere. Very hard to see even if it’s open but ah, don’t wanna pay like 50-100 for it. I mean belt is okay and wheels too but cant figure out where the problem is and I know it’s just something minor.

I have exactly the same problem. I plan to cut a trench in the cassette holder frame and plastic weld a longer tag and reinforce it so that it has more strength and doesnt break off again .. ever... ive ordered a plastic welder tool from Aliexpress... just waiting now..

Very interested to see your compilation of photos of the TC-RX55. From this, I think I've got the routing of the drivebelt wrong. I followed the diagram on page 18 of the TC-RX55 Service Manual with the drivebelt passing fully around the underside of the two flywheels, whereas there are a couple of images that show the belt taking a different path on the reverse flywheel. I think this must be why the cassette wasn't taking up the tape when playing reverse. I don't suppose you have any diagrams that show the path of the belt? The Service Manual is not that helpful.
