Today I'm painting a bumble bee!!! This was such a cute small creation that I was still able to add some fun details too.
Rock-afire Advent calendar, Day 7... Dook it out!

This has been my favorite so far. I loved getting the extra details into the face and getting to use a wide variety of colors to get the skin tone just right. I used raw Sienna, white and magenta to come up with a tone I liked.

It's day 6. This one is fun because you get to use shades and tints to make this latex part come to life.
Rock-afire Advent Calendar -- making the bags
Просмотров 23Месяц назад
There is so much that went into making these bags. Before the 40 hours of printing the final sets, I went through different ideas on how to make my vision a reality. I started with photographs of the characters and using photoshop and illustrator, I transformed them into a black and white images, traced them, chose the lights and darks, what would be cut out, what wouldn't then sent them to my ...

Rock afire Explosion Advent Calendar Day 03

Day 3!! I showed a small amount of how to use the scissors to trim the mask, but my dad jumps in to show more details since my masks came mostly trimmed, as well as a lesson on how to reshape your latex mask if there are any deformities.

This is the first day we get to paint a latex mask! I did make a mistake and forgot to mix in the latex, but I won't make that mistake in my future videos :).

In future videos I will show more a more detailed look at the process of the Lino cut. This video shows me getting all my designs printed onto the bags, numbering the bags and getting them packaged to ship to their final stop before reaching our lucky Rock-afire fans who have purchased one of our Calendars! #rockafireexplosion
FAIL.. creating paper stencils

I thought I could cut corners by cheating. Short cuts never work and end up taking more time in the long run when you could have done it right the first time. I did how ever really hone down on my designs. I learned a valuable lesson that the method of creating a Linocut is a whole different art form. This is here to show you that I didn't start with a beautiful product, but something I had to ...

Rofle & Earl Limited Edition Domino set 1/10
Просмотров 1216 месяцев назад
This is the first of 10 Limited Edition Rolfe and Earl domino sets. This video shows the full process, starting at the computer to the final product. I ran into many challenges, but that's the best part of the first one, there is only room to improve. I have partnered up with Aaron Fechter in creating collectables for the Rock-afire Explosion. You may remember this animatronic band from Show Bi...
I think I’m getting a set for Christmas. I don’t know yet.
You've made that hat look so good that you'll have to be wary of your Dook stuffie possibly snatching it up for his own! I truly adore the uniqueness of Dook's hat. Whomever designed it struck a great balance of something distinct yet aesthetically charming and timeless. Maybe it's partially due to the color scheme but I would not look at that and think it's something from the 50s or whatnot. And since Dook made his own costume, it shows his creative yet still sensible side off nicely.
Wizard of oz. (lol I didn’t know but learned from comments on my dad’s release of the video). Was that the show at Looney Birds with “The yellow beak road”? Looney Birds is the restaurant I remember most growing up. I believe my dad opened it when I was 5 or 6. Man that was a fun place.
Look ms so cute❤ one question where was the fly used
So cute! 🐝
If you'll forgive the pun... It's "bee"utiful! It's cool to see how much fun you're having while doing these painting projects. Telling viewers that they can have fun with things pales in comparison with actually showing it.
Wish I could get a set
You still can ❤❤
You've made our favorite 'world's most adorable junkyard puppy dog' - I mean Dook of course! - look totally stellar! (In keeping with that 'space' theme.) How does using gray as a lightening/shading agent work out with acrylics as opposed to just using white or black? Using colored pencils, I tend to use grays a bit. So, just curious how that works with a paint medium.
Looks beautiful even duke would say, “ I look so intriguing.” Lol
Nice video and the cat drinking paint water😂😂
@@AdaliaAlvarado-oc3xd 😂 luckily it was still unused water
2:28 If it's ok to ask... Since you're needing such a small amount of latex, would it be a viable option to use a small measuring spoon or a thin stick to just scoop up a dab from the latex jar and place that on your palette or is latex too finicky for that?
You can do that, butttt the problem is when a small dab of latex is placed, it dries much faster. In the video of the Mitzi hand you can see little globs. That’s because the latex was drying too fast and setting so it didn’t stay in the liquid form. I think if you did it in a measuring spoon you could just scoop it and leave it in there. The little parts of the palette i am putting the latex into are about the size of a table spoon.
Thank you so much! That means a lot. I think I had about a month. At the beginning my idea was to create an advent calendar that i would make a variety of different clay sculptures, including 7 characters sculptures. I was going to learn how to make a silicone mold of them, then replicating 50 sets of each😂. My dad came up with the idea of the latex pieces in addition to just the 7 sculptures. Each sculpture took about a week. our idea was off. My dad and I brainstormed packaging and looked at pricing to have bags printed. I thought it was way more than what it would be if I did it myself. (I was wrong). I said I could make them myself no problem. I got 3 of the sculptures done. You can see them in the background during the screen print idea. (I also have videos making them on my TikTok channel) My dad must have thought ahead and knew we needed a fail safe by choosing to create more latex pieces than our original plan. When I did my test sculpture in silicone I realized I needed a releasing agent and a way to get rid of the bubbles.. i was missing some major tools for this to be possible, so we ordered a pressure pot and vacuum chamber… but we were at a little less than a month to finish everything. I had to put my sculptures on hold for a future project. I had to send my finished bags in less than a month and I had not started. We realized we had reached a point 50 was no longer possible and made our goal 25. I never choose a project that I don’t push limits to the max. I’m definitely proud I didn’t give up but at the end of the screen print idea in the video when I was trying to visualize how I was going to set up the screens, I lost confidence I was going to be able to finish in time, but the idea of admitting defeat is not something I’m willing to do. Even the idea of cheating the goal from 50 to 25 made me cringe until I realized how hard making just 25 was.
The amount of trial and error which you've persevered through is honestly impressive. Many folks would lose at least a bit of self-confidence after the "things which didn't work out" piled up so much. Then there's the fact that you've been able to get through all of this in such a short timeframe. What did you have - about a month or so? Also; groovy to see your feline again as well as that cute Duke plush in the corner.
Cool video. You taught us some things, learn from your mistakes or failures
Thank you! Always learning! This is a good example why I love painting. Paint is forgiving and you can try again as many times as you want.
Everyone's favorite, totally wonderful, naturally awesome pizza band leader never looked so good! It's good to see that even professionals can make some mistakes and yet keep going. These videos will be good art lessons for the year through.
Very nice to meet you. I'm looking forward to watching you bring this Advent calendar to life. Thank you for sharing your time with us here on youtube.
Thank you for sharing :). I'm so excited to share this with you guys. I have a true passion in art and learning new skills I have never attempted before. I believe the Rock-afire is giving me a chance to share everything it means to try something new.
25:17 Audio cuts out and remains silent for the rest of the video. It's truly kind of you to provide all of the tools which offer everyone the best experience plausible while working on their Advent calendar. Thank you very much for the lessons.
Bear with me, I'm new to RUclips and video editing, so I will be improving my videos as we go along. Sometimes I question if I'm talking too much. I'm use to TikTok where people prefer quick videos and less talking. Think of this as one you can look back on before I got the hang of it :).
Hey, no worries! You just be you and do what you can. And that's a groovy enough of a way to be.
I BOUGHT ONE
YAY!!
How are you liking it so far??
If that's a shipping box... I can only imagine the kind of puzzle-worthy challenges that Christmas morning or birthday time brought.
I find it cool to learn that The daughter of my boss, The legendary Aaron Fechter has a youtube channel of her own. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your content as well -Hunter
Thank you! I think it's pretty cool too :)
