The Grammar of Koi - Verb Ripple Slots - Tsevhu tutorial 2 part 2
Part 2 of the second tutorial in the Tsevhu conlang tutorial series. We go over what kind of information verbs slots can carry and where they sit grammatically within the koiwrit writing system. Hope you enjoy :)

Aijrun Flower - Tsevhu Vocab Showcase - WbW flowers
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.6 месяцев назад
I'm trying out a new series showcasing one of the games we play on discord called wor(l)d building Wednesdays (WbW - never actually done on Wednesdays). I give people a topic [this one is wild flowers] and Tsevhu enthusiasts create a word and lore based off that topic. This was originally going to be a RUclips short, but I totally spaced on what orientation it needed to be, so now you just have...

The basics behind how to write in the decorative koi fish script for the Tsevhu conlang. www.reddit.com/r/tsevhu/ discord.com/invite/75QKKMcR25
I'm absolutely loving your koiwriting! I'd absolutely love to see the next video for the breakdown of the rest of the ripple slots, so I'll absolutely be keeping an eye on your channel for the next tutorial video. In the meantime, I was wondering if I could request some help with proof reading my attempts to encode some writing? I'm an artist, and I want to draw out a message to my best friend as a birthday gift using your fictional language as accurately as possible. His birthday is in three months, so I think that gives me plenty of time to do trial and error before I have to work on inking and colouring things in. Honestly even if all you do is show where I can find the list of official Tsevhu words, that'd be an incredible place for me to start trying my hand at translating and encoding my message to do the ripples without any English/Tsevhu pigeon meshing going on haha Thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful works! Your koi swimming animations are so cute and fun to watch too /)^v^(\
Please make more videos on Koiwriting, you got me hooked and now I cannot rest until I understand it completely! T.T
I am imagining the Catholic Bible translated into Tsehvu/Koi. It would be a work of tremendous beauty.
What about multiple word verbs, like "sychese hma"?
@@BertLeyson hma would modify chese in the perfective position, which is in the wake of the tail rather than directly on the tail.
These videos solely got me so invested in Linguistics, and how I plan to use them for my own hobby projects. Don't stop making these videos!
Wow
This is so cool
I don't get a thing, but I like nishikigoi fishes.
I was more invested in this video than my actual lectures
It's so nice and beautiful, I want to write a letter to my former German / Linguistic teacher. Do you think she will appreciate it?
Currently working on a poster, it should be nice.
I cant wait for the next ripple slots, I love tsevhu!!!!
I love this so much! Writing calligraphically and also grammatically reminds me of sitelen suwi used for toki pona. Of course, this is more complex. I’m actually getting tempted to learn your Tsevhu...
Oh my dear, I love, love, love, love, this. Just beautiful, and explaining a lot of things, things that i even didn't really know. Impressive and delightful
I love the little bell noises and just the background music in general. Makes you feel like you’re in the waters with the koi
once again, i am delighted for such a thoughtful video! i'm only a casual fan of linguistics but every single explanation feeds my little word loving soul. also your art is both charming and contextually useful/informative
Actual heart attack, my prayers have been heard!!! Thank you so much 😍
Ooh boy am I excited for telicity.
Yay! A new Tsevhu update! I love this conlang so much; it's so beautiful and I love how it sounds!
What a time to be alive! Loving these series and the discord community has been nothing short of amazing! Thank you <3
5:43 i love this part! 7:23 you shold not apologize, it was one of my favorite parts! but seeing the cute fox, i change my mind; apologize more so we can see mor of them! ^.^
this is phenomenally created. the art is elegant, and it greatly increases understanding too. you discuss many topics, and expalin them all well. this video deserves 1000x the views it's getting. brava
Wow, thank you so much!
Babe wake up, new Tsevhu video just dropped 🗣🗣🔥
I love your conlang soooooo much! I want to put a phrase on my wall so your videos are very helpful! One thing I didn’t quite get where to put the verb if you only have a form of "be"… E.g. "My path is the right/correct one", the tense is obviously non-finite, so the koi swims up but where do I put the ripple for "is"?😅 (Sorry, if I’m not getting something, English is my second language 😅)
Typically the to be verb (am, is, are, etc.) is done by not having a verb. So you'll just have the active and stative, and no verb.
Please please please don't stop making these videos. Linguistics is interesting, and I desperately want to learn to write in tsevhu semi-fluently
@@jimbrenneman2040 Me too, at some point I'll be fluent lol
Sorry if this question my seem a tad bit strange, but could i hypetheticly swap out the koi with another fish and still have it keep its meaning
@justaduck1664 ya, I've even done stuff that isn't fish like a fox and a person. Main thing is to have something that the ripple slots can align with, and especially for verbs, have something jointed so you can still do commands and questions.
@@koavhukva6996 so i could hypetheticly swap out the koi for a nile crocadile, neat
Fresh off the press! I love coming back to this language from time to time, it's so creative
yeaaaaaassssss ive been waitingggg forr thissssssss!!!!
I was just about to watch the other tutorials! This is my new favorite hobby! P.s. the volume and your voice is great, no worries!

THIS IS THE VIDEO
wanna create a mathematical notation system using this
We're currently revamping the number system I originally had for it, which has been a lot of fun
Very interesting, thank you
Taking so many notes. Thank you
Learning Tsevhu to make puzzles for my D&D players is turning out to be a lot more work than I thought it would be. I like it, don't get me wrong. But for some reason I had it in my head that it was 'just drawing fish and ripples'.
@@jackkyle8414 lol ya there's a whole language aspect to it. But you can actually use it as a cypher. You can use the alphabet for English technically and use active as subject and stative as object.
Girl, pleaseee make part 2. It's literally the most incredible and beautiful conlang in the whole world. You're an actual goddess and we're bathing in your GRACE
i need to own a tsevhu dictionary IMMEDIATELY
how do you search up words in the koi fish dictionary please respond i wanna learn sooooooooo bad

This has to be the most beautiful writing system I've ever seen
Lore 😮
Koi Fish - making different ripple patterns Me - I agree !!
I did a bit of a goof. The shorthand says Ajrun rather than Aijrun. Ai has one less line that A, but I get so used to writing A that I spaced it on the Ai. That's embarrassing, lol.
The stylized shorthand in the corner is really neat! Can't wait for maohetosaukhae :) /j
Being chronically online has its benefits, the art is amazing as always
No way I've been waiting for another tsevhu video for ages
Love tsevhu as both a artlang and a conlang, and you do a perfect job explaining it. keep up the amazing work <3
What if there are no nouns in a sentence except pronouns?? Do they just sit there or is there like a placeholder noun they need to connect to or smthn
Pronouns typically just function like nouns. They can sit where nouns do and can function as subjecta and objects and stuff
Awesome work as always!! Especially with the animation
Thanks 😊
i came here from your video… hi!
I like your whole conlang. You had some great ideas and that writing system is just beautiful! I like how it sounds, I like the grammar, and I love your calm voice explaining everything to us. You should maybe do a story-reading ASMR in Tsevhu, with text on the background. It would be awesome.
Thank you 😊 that might be kinda fun to do
