New owner of a SB14, anyone know where I can pick up an oil filter adapter for my Kawasaki FC150V? Would appreciate any leads...also how to re-do the mowing deck? Thanks guys

I'm replacing the carb on one now. Because SOMEBODY cobbled up the bottom of the tube with the wrong screwdriver. Ebay had one for around $10. I'd rather have re-installed the original though.

The only Flaw with this model from JD is they did not make it with a Alternator for constant 12v charge to always be charging the battery while it is running .if this motor would have had that Alternator Would have made this the Greatest Lawnmower Ever made. Sad as you can see the battery will die in 3 to 5 starts with the electric start do to Battery Drain .

I have the same i hope it does as good as yours just needed a pto seal and a valve adjustment.But runs good.Snow any day seems it`s been coming late up north though.

we have an SE and have problem with stablizing the handle. the bolts at the bottom won't tighten.

I have this mower, looking for some help with the starter, thought mine was broken so I bought a "working" one on eBay used and after I hooked it up, it ended up doing the exact same thing as the one I took off. When you turn the key, the starter just spins really fast but doesn't crank the engine, any help would be appreciated, you clearly know what you are doing. thanks

I have a 14 SE and a 14SB. Best mowers period! Mine always starts with 1 pull. The battery is bad in my 14 SE so I just pull to start it. I do the yearly service at john deere and never had any issues.

I'm restoring a 1994 14SE right now. Your 1989 model looks spotless, great for its age. Yeah the loud sound is a combo of the worn out muffler and the governor being set to set to high. Also had 1989 14SB and currently still have a working 1993 14SB. They really are wonderful machines ahead of their time, set standards. You going to do an update or do you no longer have this machine?

What is the level of oil?

That's not the muffler rattling.

I just got one of these. Mine is pretty good. I'm going to put a new battery in at some point though it nearly always starts with one pull of the pull starter.

Your battery is a PowerSonic 1250 or USB1250 . These are 12v. 5Amh batteries. Get them most anywhere. My 14SE came with a uSB new. Also, use a little dry graphite on shaft of starter and I blow my out after each use. It's 15 years old.
