Lee Chapel Fall Lecture 2019 with Lynn Rainville
Thank you for this video! I'm a descendent of the Fredrick Mohler family from this area. We have old letter's that mention some of these names.
The russian woman should move back to Moscow and start to complain.
Want to get there to see Stonewall Jackson s home. Gravesite
" I don't mind them flying the flags on their own property" . Biggest lie ever ! There's a case right now in Farmville where city council is going after a private owner of a large battle flag that sits on their own property , by cleverly trying to change and loophole zoning laws. They will continue to erase everything American in their path.
so very pretty !! my mothers people are from here and the way they all talked about this place makes me want to be there . my great grandfather and grandmother lived here in Rockbridge
To any Southerner who thinks that Lee and Jackson were great men and who respect and admire the flag and what it stands for but who are concerned, like the photographer @19:50, about offending people: it is noble to aspire to the attitudes of a Southern gentleman, to have good manners and to strive to not offend. However, you should bear in mind that those people are waging a war against everything for which you stand; all of your symbols, heroes, history, everything. As gentlemanly as Lee was, even he fought when it came time to do so.
You got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.
Nope. The government was a totalitarian regime that wanted to invade South Carolina and that’s why Virginia seceded. Be gone yank!
@13:15 no, you don’t have a duty to petition something you disagree with. You have a right to do so, but especially as a foreigner and someone who never lived in the town before she started teaching there, you should respect the citizens and the culture and not be such an insufferable, busybody iconoclast. She deserved every criticism she received.
Also, “every American has a right to [petition]” but as he already noted, she’s not American.
That teacher is absolutely despicable. Coming into a place that she clearly isn’t from (judging from her accent) and trying to change things so that they suit her. Everything just has to be the way she wants it to be. I really have so much contempt for these busybodies. The staff of Washington and Lee is comprised of woke foreigners unfortunately.
Is anyone even local except the dark haired gentleman?
@@MeadeFatLoss probably many people who weren’t filmed.
@@ianfrye7900 it was pretty biased. When I was in the Lee Jackson parade this past January many of the locals support it. Its the University elite that make all the fuss.
It’s not “sons of the confederacy” it’s sons of confederate veterans ! That means to be a member you have to be a male descendant of a confederate soldier or government official who served honorably . This is not some cosplay - our camp has a “real grandson” as a member - that means that man’s grandfather wore the grey and served in general Wade hamptons legion cavalry . My ancestors were in holcombe legion and the 1st SC orrs rifles (Gregg’s brigade , Hills division , Jackson’s Corp) - they were there at Fredericksburg and Antietam , they smashed the flank of the union army Chancellorsville , they bled at the crater during the siege of Petersburg …. If you think we will just forget and go away you are mistaken . We will remember them and honor them just as I honor my ancestors who scalped Ferguson atop kings mountain and slew pakenham at New Orleans with old hickory . God will shine his light upon Dixie ! God save the south !
Sic semper tyrannis ! Dum spiro spero ! Deo vindice ! Support from sgt adam Washington ballenger camp 68 Spartanburg SC ! Maybe Mrs Anna Brodsky should stick to teaching about Marxism to her fellow trotskyites and stay out of our history…. I’m sure she has no problem with the Marxist racist BLM movement flags flying from public flag poles and being prominent in public areas …. If you think the southern cause of independence and the heroism of our forefathers will be forgotten then you have another thing coming ! Our ranks are growing every day and we will not back down ! Our SCV camp put up a $70k 120 foot tall confederate flag on interstate 85 in South Carolina and we are now fund raising for the Lee Jackson park in Virginia! “If I ever speak Ill of the cause for which Lee fought and Jackson died may god strike me down with a bolt of lightning and cleave my tongue to the roof of my mouth”
Long live the South. They will never dilute our history and heritage. Leave it alone!
Good stuff
Lexington is a lovely town. Why don't its residents grow up, recognize their symbols are offensive to many, and make their celebrations in private away from the public square?
Mental Illness flags offend me. Should they be taken down?
Because it's the states history and its civilians are heroes to its people!you need to grow up and except that lincoln was a traitor to the constitution!
That goes both ways . Why don’t the people grow up and celebrate history . Both sides were Americans. Why walk on eggshells. We are a free nation and should understand and learn history.
Being offended over something that happen over a century ago is crazy. Let’s learn history together.
@danfriedman1267 why don’t people who immigrate to the town grow up and realize they are in a different culture than that from which they came? Why don’t they appreciate heritage and culture instead of trying to impose their views on an area with its own culture and values. People need to stop being offended at things that don’t concern them. It’s a very childish and immature way to view the world. Grow up.
I’m a yankee without a racist bone in my body and I believe the flags should fly. Some of these people need a history lesson, and not one taught by that Russian woman. God bless Lee and Jackson. “Rally behind the Virginians!”
This is amazing. Eliza bannister is my Great Great Grandmother. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Patrick Hinley is just, yet again, another lying Leftist. Confederate day which coincides with the birth of General Lee and General Jackson has been a holiday in Virginia for a LONG time before King was even born. So, Lee/Jackson Day was first. The Confederate flags, which have flown on this day for decades, celebrate the lives of two of the greatest men, if not THE greatest men, in history. It was pressure from racist outside Lexington that caused the cowardly city council to ban ALL flags being flown outside city buildings. Lexington has a long history of flying Washington and Lee flags on the lamppost outside city shops when the Generals are playing in town and VMI flags when the Keydets are playing. These were also banned because once again the city council are jellyfish.
the whole thing was entirely disingenuous. You can tell where the allegiances of the film maker lies.
Don't like the flag go back where you came from 😊
I have seven flags all round my house .Kevin southern England. Long live dixie.
my great great granpa William HALL born in Rockbridge 1823.
Get rid of the left-wing commies and you'll have just about a perfect town.
Pretty flowers I like the way you did the streets. I used to come to Lexington a lot three four times a year me and my cousin to come down to shop in the antique stores. And eat at the restaurant along Main Street. But after y'all took down the Confederate monuments we no longer come to Lexington.
god bless dixie its flags and its heroes
They had Black Confederate soldiers who fought for freedom as well.
Lexington turning VA into new California Avoid these liberal bigots. How are they doing with the new Biden Admin. ? Destroying America. Removing history. VA residents say goodbye to your great history and culture. Go have dinner with the Red Hen people and say goodbye to American culture
Remember the Red Hen. This legacy will never go away. City should respond the this owners (Red Hen) poor behavior.
I am related to this family amazing thanks so much for sharing love this!
Ruined by progressives.
Ruined how? That town looks beautiful amd it gets really high scores on livability. I’m not a progressive but that just sounds like sour grapes from someone on the other end of the spectrum
ruclips.net/video/_tANPYBDuRU/видео.html The real Lexington. ruclips.net/video/e0sySU1sSDs/видео.html It's not family friendly anymore. Be careful if you take your family there.
Disgusting poor mannered people ruined the once great city.
Can you please be more specific? What aspects of the community would you say have declined?
@@carltoncotter2614 I believe what they're saying is any town or city that has a communist mindset is never a good thing. In a small town like Lexington, Va. it's not always about what the town looks like but what they act like. Like trying to get rid of the name of the college and killing the real history of the town.
