Hard to tell on video, but looks like he could have come in closer to the driver side before the obstacle so the ass end would have been further over. Honestly, recreational wheeling in a 1/2ton, 3/4ton, 1ton, etc. is kinda silly. Too much bodywork to deal with and visibility sucks.
@@Holden-McGroin maybe a little bit but regardless it was gonna be a tight and risky move. I’ve since talked to a number of full sized rigs who’ve made it though…but it’s still tight and risky with a big lean towards that boulder!
I did this on a KTM motorcycle and some spots were tight. No way you would get through. Maybe in a slim Jeep. First half of the trail isn't too bad, but she gets brutal in a hurry- and then it is hard to get back out or turn around. Typical day in MOAB.
power wagon don't care!!!
So what did this PW do that a stock one couldn’t do? I agree that larger tires look cool, and the after market bumper looks cool, but it’s mostly cosmetics. If you want to spend a few thousand dollars modifying your Power Wagon, go for it. I have a 2019, and I have been off road everywhere from Colorado, to Utah, Montana, and Idaho and have never had any problems conquering anything I’ve come across. I’ve scrapped a bumper here and there, but it hasn’t motivated be to spend $10,000 on modifications.
You make a lot of assumptions. One, my suspension is bone stock. My only mods are 37” tires, high clearance bumpers, rock sliders and differential protection. Way, way short of your stated $10k of mods. If you think those are just cosmetics…come follow me around in the rocks and you’ll wish you had each and every one of the few mods I have. Are there any videos posted of your stock Power Wagon on 33” tires running Poison Spider, Golden Spike or even climbing the ledges at Bangs Canyon or attempting 21rd? I usually take the hard lines and don’t stack rocks.
And btw, if you think aftermarket bumpers are “mostly cosmetics” then I suggest it’s time to research and understand approach and departure angles.
are those tyres 35s?
Nope, I run 37's on stock rims and suspension. Rock sliders, diff protection and high clearance bumpers.
@@rickburnham5796 yeah I noticed the stock rims, that's why I thought it would be a 35. No rubbing? Whats the width of your 37?
@@9uhaib114 37x12.5’s. They aren’t great for around town since they rub the swaybar if you even think about turning tight. In the trail with the swaybar disconnected it rarely rubs and is just about a non issue. Where I live (Western Colorado) I need all the help I can get on the rocks so it’s worth the trade off!
@@rickburnham5796 sweet, I think I will go with the 35 in the meantime, just bought my PW, investing more on overland ING gear. Love and peace from Saudi ❤️
@@9uhaib114 same to you, thanks. I wheeled for quite a while on 35’s and never got stuck
I don't do spotters. I find someone talking, annoying, when I'm navigating.
congratulations on being better than me! I ordered the driver mod but it hasn't shown up yet....
What size tires are those? Looks like it's still the factory shocks. Beauty Truck!
Thanks! I run 37x12.5’s on the stock wheels and completely stock suspension.
I just drove through the other day. You climb up with your drivers side. Right where that flat faced rock is, it’s super doable.
Yeah I thought about that as I know it’d climb that flat faced rock, just wasn’t sure how much of an ugly angle that would have been. First day of three there so…live to fight another day!
Have you checked out the Dethloff mfg. new skid plate for the transmisson and oil pan. I just got mine put on and it is a great add.
I remember this little sharp gully. It’s definitely a bumper grinder.
Yeah next time to Moab I’m removing my nice 2.5” Factor 55 hitch link and D-ring, going to use a hitch slider instead!
I know this spot! PW cannot make that corner!
I’ve had a couple Jeep Rubicons. Always upsizing. Tires, lift, axles, steering, etc. I now have a 2024 PW. It comes with all of the above from the factory including the sought after 392. $64,000. Why not?
Rambicon!
Are you running additional skid plates? If so what brand? I just got my Dethloff mfg. Skids.
Those Dethlof skids are nice, I’m jealous! I’m still using the factory skids, I did add a bash guard for the front diff and replaced the rear diff cover with the heavy AEV unit. Since that video I replaced those rock rails with true frame mount rock sliders.
@@rickburnham5796 Godz mfg. also makes some nice skids for the PW
That was crazy. Another impressive demonstration of the Power Wagon’s capabilities. I paused the video when you’re at max incline, and your massive truck looks like a rocket ship. When you rounded the top, I could see that the big 37s are required for long-wheeled vehicles. A shorter truck with 35s might be ok.
Very impressive. The contact patch on those aired-down 40” chocolate donuts is a rock-crawling game changer. I’ve got an F150 w/33s, but I’ve had two sets of 35s. Did you jump straight from the stock 33s to 40s, or did you try 35s and 37s? Recently, I’ve been shopping for a used Power Wagon. I doubt I’ll see much rock crawling where I am, but I want to handle the worst washed-out fire roads. With that in mind, what size tire do you recommend with the Power Wagon as a balance to keep more fuel range and reduce strain on the drivetrain components?
Those are 37’s on stock rims and suspension. 40’s would require extensive trimming and AEV style fender flares. The truck also performed well on 35’s but living out in Western Colorado on the rocks I need all the help I can get. Tire size and drivability depends on your entire combination. Example: my Power Wagon comes with 4:10 gears and the 8spd transmission so the 37’s have a minimal impact on it.
@@rickburnham5796 I see. That HD frame and beam axles probably feel right at home with 37s. Thanks for the reply!
@@rickburnham5796 Sorry, last question: did you notice a change in MPG when you went from 35s to 37s?
@@RickActual yeah it dropped some, not sure how much.
Power Wagon don't care!
No Power Wagon don’t care (except when she’s too fat to squeeze through!)
are you using front and rear lockers?
I have them but rarely ever use both, the rear locker gets used on milder trails in 2wd!
And no I wasn’t using them on that obstacle.
Nice front bumper. Back bumper is pretty sweet also. Maybe after I get my suspension mods done to my PW I will have to look into bumpers.
Appreciate that, the front Chassis Unlimited bumper was a total game changer, the approach angle made it like a different truck. The rear bumper didn’t cost much and most people talk bad about Rough Country…but it was cheap and has held up well to some hits (down onto rocks). Plus it got those backup sensors off the bottom of the bumper.
@@rickburnham5796 and the rear bumper has the built in side steps.
Which rock sliders are you running? 37 inch tires? great job
Thank you, yes stock suspension on 37’s w/bumpers and diff guards. Sliders are frame mount Rocky Road Outfitters.
but did it make it up the harder obstacles after the waterfall?
My first time to Moab so I was a totally a follower and don’t know the obstacle names. We climbed Poison Spider to Golden Spike and then took that to the “skinny” entry to Where Eagles Dare”. Did that trail and then returned to Poison Spider using Golden Spike again and then back down. The trail limo does pretty good with the biggest problem being breakover (over course). The hardest obstacles were on Golden Spike.
I can tell by watching this video that this is a nice, warm, dry summer day.
Haha, not quite! But a really nice winter day for sure.
Awesome truck, thanks for sharing
Thanks a lot!
See, there is a spot for the $70,000 Tacoma. 😂 JK. That Power Wagon is bad ass.
LOL, thanks
PW for life y’all!!
It’s a good life!
Agreed
Hi there! I'm following you from Montreal, and I'd like to ask you a question: " Do you have a differentiel lock mode?" I own a RAM 2022 V6, but it does not have differentiel lock mode (only 4x4 auto, 4x4 high, 4x4 low); and I was wondering weather or not, I could achieve your performance.
The transfer case in the Power Wagons is always locked whether 4LO or 4HI, it also came with front and rear differential lockers so it can be “triple locked”. Thanks for the question. There’s a lot of people who wheel hard with Ram 1500’s too!
@@rickburnham5796 A thousand thanks for your clear answer!
Power Wagon baby! Yeah!
Lol Dean, Power Wagon don’t seem to care!
Beast mode
What sliders are you using?
I now have Rocky Road Outfitters frame mount full length sliders. In that older video I was using N-Fab “Rock Rails” which are more of a nerf bar mounted to the rocker pinch weld like the factory sliders. Actually they held up pretty darn good!
Well done.
Thank you!
Sheesh that looks steep, nicely done Rick
Thanks Ruairi…and it was!

Amen, and it’s rare pics or video show the steepness!
That scrape gave me mini heart attack then saw its RAM, definitely will have metal plates & I am relieved 😂😂
Scrapes happen…
@rickburnham5796 I understand, bruh, but I am Asian 😅😂
Awesome. What exhaust do you have?
Thank you. Stock exhaust turned down with mandrel bent 90 after the muffler.
Cool. I did a Borla Muffler with resonator delete.
Well done 👍
Hey thanks!
PW made that tub look small and the wheelbase made it look easy. Nice!
Thank you, it was fun
What the fuck is "21rd"???
Difficulty Rating: * Trail Length: ** Elevation Range: Operating Season: Difficult 2 Miles - point to point 5556' - 5868' All Year "This is an extreme trail near Grand Junction, though you do have some options. Most of the obstacles have bypasses, and though the bypasses are generally not difficult they can be tippy or challenging. If you do every obstacle -- including Insanity at the end -- you'll do the 10-rated trail. The trail starts with some easier obstacles, then gets progressively more difficult all the way to the end."
@@rickburnham5796yeah but “What the fuck is 21(rd)”
@@keo8269 It is a wash north of Grand Junction colorado. It is if not the toughest 4x4 trail in the USA. What this truck is doing is just crossing the wash. Nothing like starting at the beginning. It couldn't make it. There are 8 ft tall boulders that are vertical that specialized 4x4s have a hard time climbing over. my RZR can't do them. At the end though there is a cool cave that many camp out. in. There are videos of the local clubs that do the real tough part of the trail.
I've got a 1997 2500..dodge ram..I'll keep mine
I hate dodge but those look best IMO and rhe Dakota
Impressive
Thanks!
Looks like you may have already dented your CJC “intercooler” guard from what I could see in this video. I was considering one, but I just left off the plastic shroud, removed the posts and moved up the power cables to the winch so it has good clearance in that section. Actually looks pretty good that way. I believe CJC may make a sturdy version of that guard in the future that would be more like a skid plate and could take some hits.
Yes it was pretzeled pretty good by the time I put the Chassis Unlimited bumper on. It’s still a nice option though.
Nice Power Wagon! I have subscribed to your channel. Keep posting those Power Wagon videos... I think the Go Rhino Slider steps that I mounted to the rocker panel on my PW are tougher than the available factory frame mounted sliders. However, I am definitely considering some White Knuckle Offroad sliders to mount to the Red Beast Wagon in the near future.
I used rocker mounted rock rails for quite a while and they held up, that’s what’s on the truck in this video. I now have Rocky Road true frame mount sliders. And thank you!
What tire size?
37’s
Thank you Sir! Any mods to prevent rubbing?
Nope, she rubs the swaybar around town parking, try not to even think of going full lock. Believe it or not out on the trail it rarely rubs when it’s flexing or even being stuffed, it’s almost a non issue on the trail and for me the benefits outweigh the negative. The suspension is stock.
The log moved over haha
Awesome rig 👍
Looking good. I would recommend changing out the factory rock sliders to a frame mounted style. When I took a look at the latest Wagons, the marketed rock sliders appeared to be bolted to rocker panels. Personally, I would not trust that style of slider.
Absolutely and they’re on my “list”!
What do you recommend?... White Knuckle?
