Grub invasions can feel like a gardener's worst nightmare, as these tiny pests quietly devastate lawns just as summer ends. Watching patches of grass turn brown and lift from the soil is disheartening, especially after months of care. However, fall is a crucial season to not only repair grub damage but also strengthen your lawn for the months ahead. With proper aeration, overseeding, and fertil...

So there are no solar powered birdbath warmers?🤔 Like simple, set it and forget it Sun powered low cost types?
@@femineity I have not found any good solar powered birdbath heaters. They would need to have a significant battery back up to get through cold nights.

So should I seed and apply grub control if I already have a grub problem right now?
@@loutsianafk4085 Yes, renovate area then add grub killer and over seed. You can do it all at the same time. Also, ASAP is best! Reach out with any other questions. Good luck!
So, should I use grub control and seed at the same time? I am in zone 6b and realized I have a huge grub issue

God I need help here, my story is a long one, but I've been doing tons of brutally hard work on top of spending a small fortune since last season. Long story short, I have a 1200 sq ft yard up here in the northeast, I started from nearly bare dirt after totally killing off and removing what was there. I used all the supposed "best products", I did everything by-the-book, I used Jonathan Green Black-Beauty Ultra seeds and everything grew in quite beautifully, then that unexpected heatwave in late June just melted it all!!! So is Johnathan Green Black-Beauty Ultra seeds incapable of growing a lawn that can handle a hot summer?? Do they expect you do grow in a new lawn every year it gets a little hot???? So now I'm preparing to do it all over again this fall and I'm worried to death about doing this all again FOR NOTHING!!! This time I'll be using a heat & drought seed but I haven't put any kind of weed killer down because I know that it keeps grass seeds from germinating, I have Tenacity and Sedgehammer but I'm afraid to use them also because they've killed My grass as well as my weeds, so what the hell do I do here??? Whenever I go in my yard, ITS ABSOLUTELY HEARTBREAKING!!! To think about all the money, all the unbelievably brutal back-breaking work I did just to see this terrible ugly mess, you'd never in a million years think for a second that this mess was an entire Black-Beauty Ultra planted "lawn", if that's what you want to call it. I cant take it anymore, I'm seriously considering just walking away, throwing down weed-killer just to stop my yard from getting overgrown with weeds and just not caring about having a lawn anymore 😢
I can help You Grow your youtube channel
Sluggo Plus (it's organic) also kills earwigs! I water well, and broadcast it all over the lawn, borders and food garden.
THANKS!
Hi mom/dad
Hi G🩵

What water temp is warm enough to introduce new fish? Thanks
Hi Ellen, we prefer above 65°.
Hi dad
Hi G
I'm a huge fan of the Bay of Fundy mulch and use it every year for weed control as plants are establishing and ground covers grow in. It's awesome because amends and add nutrients to the soil and actually decomposes into the beds rather than needing to be raked out and cleaned up in the fall in and spring. It's more expensive and it's 100% worth it! If you use a landscaping service, you don't have to let them talk you into using the using traditional (often dyed) mulch - it's easier for them, but you'll get a lot more value out of using Coast of Maine. It also feels good to use a product that's a preferred environmental choice and comes from right here in New England. Highly recommend. Thanks Domina's for carrying it! :)
You’re welcome, and thank you for the feedback!🌱

I have 20 inch Koi’s the pond is a deep rubber made we moved and had to put them in a smaller pond . I. An not keep plants in the pond because they eat all my plants no matter what size pond they are in
Hi dad
Can you make a video on how you add carnivorous plants to the floating island? I've always had the hardest time with those, and my floating island is always so thin, no matter what i plant in it.
It’s very helpful. Thanks.
What type of net do you use? Do you sell it?
Hi, we use Aquascape netting and we do sell it at our retail store.
Great tip on aerator placement to keep water warmer at the bottom. Thanks!
Welcome:)
I have a planter pond on my deck, it holds 65 gallons. I'm in Minnesota, the previous 2 years I have brought my 4 goldfish indoors, this year I'm leaving them out because they stink. I purchased a floating heater that keeps a hole in the ice and I run an aerator as well. What I'm worried about is the -10 degree days we get here. Do you think it could freeze solid with those 2 measures in place? Thanks.
We’ve never tested it so not quite sure. But definitely don’t use an energy efficient heater because it won’t keep up. You would need a 1200 watt heater to have any chance to keep them alive. Keep us posted, I’m curious to see what happens. Thanks!!
I use a heated pet dish in the winter for birds to drink from. They can't bathe in it, but can drink. I put a concrete bird bath nearby and remove the frozen ice when possible as the temperature warms up during the day for the birds to bathe in it. It works for the birds in my yard.
Marc, What brand netting do you use and is it still available?
Hi Karen, we use Aquascape netting and we have some in stock. 😎
@dominasagway576 thanks!!!!
Hi mom and dad
Hi dad
Thank you. Located in Newport
When do we shut off the automatic dosing?
Hi Ellen, We run auto dosing systems until there is danger of freezing. When that is depends on where you’re located here in southern Rhode Island. But usually our clients will run them until Thanksgiving.
Northeast NY Got super cold just today! But I know temps will still come back up and down etc. Leaves dumped from the huge oaks in my yard, just put a fish net across my 7 ft x 11 ft pond. Next day a clean cut right across the pond through the net! $25 down the drain. The heron here is relentless! What to do?? I’m sick of spending money on nets that the heron easily cuts through. So today I purchased a big roll of pliable plastic construction fencing. It’s a bit harder to cut through this material. Ugh! Hope it works. I have many hiding places in the pond pvc pipes elbows etc. I have 2 caves several hiding spots etc. we’ll see. But so frustrating!
It seems like you were doing all the right things to protect the fish. I think the issue is you simply need a better quality net. We deal with mink and heron all the time. We use Aquascape pond netting and have not had any issues with them cutting a new net.
Cool hummingbirds
Very useful tips. Thanks!
Does not work at all
really cool insight! thank you so much for sharing it with us
You’re welcome:)
Hi dad
Hi Gav
Hi, what brand netting do you use? Thanks
What should I use?
Use insecticide dust or diatomaceous earth around the base of the plants. They spend the day in the mulch and climb up the plant at night. So that way you don’t have to apply poison to the plant. Just the ground around it.
@@dominasagway On my way to garden center. Thank you so much 😊
Vegetable oil and soya sauce traps work. I filled a pot in one night, they attacked my new pear tree, left nothing behind.
olive oil. take an empty water bottle and cut a hole about 2inchin up. fill with olive oil about 1 inch and add cap. They are attracted to the smell, they get in and find it's too slippery to get out. Doesn't work with canola oil or veg oil. No need for beer, yeast or soy sauce.
Nice video Marc, lots of helpful tips. Definitely going to up my maintain dosage
Thanks, Brad!
My friend has 3 koi fry in a aquarium and they started attacking a plant all of a sudden. They started to ferociously tug at it and almost ripped it out by the roots. It was hilarious at first but I'm kinda wondering if there’s reason for concern. 😅
Before you go to bed set out a can of tuna, tuna removed. Add in cooking oil half way with some bacon grease or soy sauce. Dig the can into the dirt to make crawling in easier for the earwigs. They get it and can’t get out. In the morning dump them out and start again the next night. This took about 4-6 days and I greatly reduced the population without using anything to harm my animals or beneficial insects. Dog will eat the oil traps so make sure they can’t get to it. Earwigs literally destroyed my veggie garden in a week. So frustrating!!!
How do we get rid of these little bastards?
What kind of aerator is it?
Love Domina’s !! Good luck this year !!
Thanks so much!!☺️
Wish you the best
Thank you! :-)
Someone online was using a heating mat for plants in a miniature greenhouse for heat. The test meter was showing the cost to be 7 cents/day. This may be an option for some folks.
