Talk with Jaimie-Lee part 1

Meet the lovely Jaimie Lee Acres, who asked me if she could refer to my book ' Nothing on Radar- the Valentich Mystery' for her upcoming video production. We had a skype meeting. This is part one of two. Jaimie is brilliant, and she read the book so her questions were equally brilliant and fully relevant. I will upload part two next week.

Live Dallas December 11th 1970 I have rethought and extensively reworked this recording. It will never be perfect but now it's at the correct pitch, and is closer to a finished project. It plays exactly alongside the sunset sound demo first verse, and the wow and flutter problems are gone. It had points of extreme damage and "squelchy" parts that had to be edited. The starting few seconds were ...

Mainly overall speed increasing with this track, less major wabbles, now a little better speed wise. Not perfect, but better to listen to. A tragic song and a surprising recording quality. Still, better than it was. Enjoy it, and thanks again Jim Bayliss for recording it live, and for posting it. - video upload powered by www.TunesToTube.com

This track is unfortunately incomplete but interesting again and different to the way it was played earlier the same night. It's a little more stable than other tracks from the second show, and the speed is now about right. - video upload powered by www.TunesToTube.com

Appreciate that you tried your best to clean it up. I agree that it sounds better than previous versions. This is an important historical document if only for being the only live version of Riders On The Storm that we have as fans.
I have a new cleaner version now, I just haven't uploaded it yet. I filtered it through a new AI plugin...
Jim l love you❤
Carol Vorderman looks amazing.
I agree Martyn. This doco is about 27 yrs old. They always have a go at her on ' 8 out of 10 cats does countdown' and I've never understood why.
@@aufornvic yes, she's lovely.
Seems to be a lot of "mysteries" from Australia in this BBC series...
Worked wonders with what you had George.👍 Great we have the tech these days - impossible before. On tapes I always swore by TDK c90s for quality; 120 was risky!
Amazing work, George !
Thankyou Rainer. I value your comment.
it seems that all Presidents have promised disclosure, until something happens and they don't. IMO, what happens is they are given the true info, and then they are told, here it is. NOW that YOU know, no one else needs to know. So that probably ends the conversation. It seems the oddly all drop the subject once elected.
Amazing work. Thanks, George!
Glad you appreciate it. It's extremely rare, and this is the more stabilised one out there. Correcting the speed problems was a very difficult task. I have done Riders on the storm as well, whicgh was even harder to fix.
There is now a book about this mystery, it's title is " Nothing on Radar-the Valentich mystery", just google it, you will find it.
Can you imagine The Doors working this up in rehearsal during that first week of December 1970? It's too bad this one wasn't buried somewhere on the LA Woman session reels.
Thank you for this!
Made in 1997.
May I please have a flac copy?
I don't have it in flac. If you play it and record it in audacity you could save it that way.
@@aufornvic do you have the original transfer?
@@sammyboi886 the original transfer is on youtube, and sounds horrible.

Palace in the Canyon? I never heard of this song before. I like it though because he croons the song. Thanks for uploading this rarity. 👏🏻🎸😎
It would have to be the rarest Doors recording ever made.
❤❤ thank you for your hard work, really love this beautiful gem. It sounds so much better than the original tape, really appreciate it!
Thankyou Wendy, I think Jim was experimenting with this song at the time. This is the only available version, there isn't even a studio version that I've ever come across. He did it the next night as well, but we might not ever get to hear that final live gig, the New Orleans show. And I read somewhere that it was listed as a poem that following night. The original tape had a multitude of technical problems and was an interesting restoration project. I'm glad you like it. Riders on the Storm was even harder to fix.
@@aufornvic I can imagine, and you did for Riders on a storm also a great job! But for me, Palace in the canyon, it feels like Jim wrote this more autobiographically... I hear his sadness, despair and defeat in this song. Heartbreaking and it touches deeply my soul...
Adriano Demarchi THE DOORS Sempre.
He was so into UFO and suffered from depression. I saw a long documentary and his friends said this. Strange case.
Why do you say these things? Both are incorrect. He was no more into the UFO subject than anybody else who just saw "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", the Spielberg Movie, just out earlier that year. And he never suffered from depression. He was in love with his girlfriend at the time he disappeared. So the suicide theory does not hold up. The people who said that were just trying to explain the mystery. He encountered a UFO, it even caused radio interference which could be heard over the aircraft radio.
Not true at all
The guy playing Frederick is fit.
This video is over 20 years old.
@@aufornvic He's still fit.
He’s young, but I’m not sure if he’s fit unless I see him running 5 miles and be not out of breath 😀

This song and Someday Soon should've been on LA Woman.
Didn't they play The Changeling?
Yes they did, in the same night's earlier show. In the first set they played 1. Love her Madly. 2. Back door man.3.Ship of fools. 4. The Changeling. 5. L.A.woman. 6. When the Music's over.
@@aufornvic Can you fix those, as well? Or are they un-fixable? Much appreciated.
What digital toold did you use? It sounds better thsn Boot Yer Butt.
Can you do the same wonder on the whole concert?
We don't have the entire second show, unfortunately. Only 2 complete and 2 incomplete songs. I have restored all four. Have a look at the other ones from this concert on my channel. LA Woman, Riders on the Storm and The end.
Great work for this upload.
this is an amazing achievement sir!!!!
I'm happy you like it. Thankyou for leaving a comment.
Awsome job sounds wonderful
Thanks Kar, it's the only live one that anyone can access. They only played it live twice.
In fact you've done it amazing! All that wobbling is gone, it was so annoying! Now it sounds like a perfect audience recording. Thank you, sir, you've done all that work of bringing the only recorded performance of the song to us in good, playable quality just great!
It wouldn't be possible without digital tools. I just put the right ones to use, I thought the song deserved that. It took me a long time, but I was learning as I went. I've always loved the song. I'm glad you like it too.
@@aufornvic I'm imagining this as a pretty meticulous task. And I also like the song very much, it's real beauty. As far as I know this is the last song The Doors had recorded before Jim leaved LA.
@@454cassul9 That is true. I've been working on it ,on and off, for about 3 years now. By playing it in the background while listening to the newly released demo version I was able to match the speed and pitch more accurately. The actual cassette had over 400 faults on this song alone, so yes, it presented some great challenges.
@@aufornvic wow, 3 years, over 400 glitches... Now I admire your patience & work even more! I'm wandering are these glitches a physical damage of the tape done by time & use, or are they a result of, say, faulty recorder (exhausted batteries or something)?
@@454cassul9 I think it's a combination of every possible problem you could ever have on a tape. Here is a list. 1. It was a budget brand of cassette. 2. It was a C120, the thinnest tape available which is why it has creases and damage repeated about every one second or so. When these creases pass over the tape head you get a scratchy sound. It's a tape, but it sounds like a scratched record. It could have been a fairly old tape or well used when Jim chose it on the night. I cannot assume it was a new tape. 3. It's an audience recording, so you get audience comments etc . 4. It's a mono recording , single Panasonic domestic microphone. 5. The cassette had an uneven winding with a tight spot, so it ran fast, slow, fast etc. 6. At one point the tape edges were curled right over, rolled up. This is non recoverable in that section, so you have the tape right there but it has no signal, so you get a gap or a hole in that part of the song. It could be a word or two entirely missing. All signal is absent as it passes the heads. 7. The batteries were getting progressively flatter, so the run speed was gradually decreasing as it was recording. And that's non linear. So , on playback the speed is continually increasing. So while it's the rarest live recording with the only available version , the debut stage performance of the song, it has every possible recording problem. So it's more of a challenge, more fun to fix. And I am very grateful that we even have this, and many thanks to Jim for driving to the gig in 1970 and recording some of it, and later sharing it.
If this 'IS FROM DALLAS 1970" then this would be the next to LAST CONCERT FOR JIM> NEW ORLEANS WAS THE NEXT % LAST
Hey Nuts45150, you are correct, this is the "next to last" live gig that Jim ever did. There is actually a special and convenient word in the English language which means 'next to the last one', it is the word "Penultimate". It does not get used very often. If I decided to make a CD of this Dallas second show I would title it " Jim's Penultimate Blues", which I think is what Jim himself would have titled it.
This is Gold thank you so much mister!!! THE DOORS FOREVER
Amazing. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Forgot the name of the song by Joy Division that is literally a carbon copy of this track predating it from about a decade of course.
Would that be " New Dawn Fades".. ?
The Doors👍😘
🔥🔥🔥
Woww... amazing work, tysm.. i love so much this song💔
It's the rarest version, now that it's fixed up. It's pure Morrison. This is possibly the ONLY time Jim sang this on stage. The next night he only spoke it as a poem. That is according to the taper's notes on the recording tracklist, on a tape nobody has heard. It's still all locked away, that Warehouse show.
Thanks George, came from your Facebook post.
Cool, thanks
Thank you very much for this precious!!!
No problem 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this with us, man. Art before profit. Thanks
I agree Adam. How it should be.
I just discovered this gem, didn't know it; thanks for restoring. Thru your great job Jim's voice seems to be expressing a full of authentic inner sadness, over his great singing skills. Felt it very moving.
I'm glad you like it Stefano. As far as I'm aware, this is the only time Jim sang this as a song. It was repeated the following night in New Orleans, but according to the setlist , handwritten notes on the 7" reel tape box, it's listed as a poem. He was probably still working on it at the time. We might never hear the poem version because the guy who has it has it locked in a vault somewhere. I have a vague hope he will feel safe enough to sell copies after December 12th this year, 2020, which will be it's 50th anniversary. I think the copyright expires then.
Hey Stefano, I have to re-work this somehow because Jim's voice is not in the right pitch. Once I re- fix it I'll post it here. Cheers..
@@aufornvic George, thanks so much for advising! I'll wait for your new editing.

Any update? 3 years later
Wow. This is amazing. I don't how you did it. But thank you, I know how hard this must have been.
Hi Tor, please feel free to copy the four tracks and post them as if you fixed it, I don't care. I did this for everyone to enjoy, for the historical purpose of preservation of the tape. Your re-mastering helped me too, because you got rid of an annoying scratchy sound that I could not remove. I visited Jim Bayliss in November 2018, at his home in Austin, and gave him a copy of his recording straightened out and on CD. He is a great guy. We are all friends, we are all doors fans. I'm so happy you like the straightened out versions. I used special software, but it was so bad I had to repeat the process several times. It was all due to a very thin tape, a C120. Cheers.
Tor, on my channel you can hear Palace in the canyon, LA Woman, Riders on the Storm and The End- Mystery Train. Let me know if you need the links..
George, thanks so much for this and all the work you put into it.
Hey James, if you give me an email address or a facebook messenger link I can send you a photo of the actual cassette deck used when this was recorded.
George Simpson, I’d love that! pacfamily at yahoo dot com. I have a fb account but don’t know how to send a link!
James - this changes everything! It's not just the speed, or Jim's sound...it's the attitude. Cannot thank you enough. George - can't express what a blessed service you've done to this recording, to Jim, the band, their entire legacy.

@@nicholasstathoulopoulos4744 I'm very happy that you appreciate the result. It is quite a difficult process because the correcting software makes many errors, and you have then to go through and find them, and then try to correct them, so it's not simple. But it is worth it.

This is the penultimate live gig with Jim Morrison. They played for two years after this without him.
That is correct Michael. Jim's Penultimate Blues. 11 Dec. 1970, Dallas Texas, USA.
Painful, humiliating and sad, singing and music. Was this at concert or in studio? I couldn't understand words spoken at beginning.
It's the next to last gig they ever did. You should hear it without any corrections.
Do you have the episode where the workmen saw a misty figure late at night on a building site?
Hi Michael, this is the only episode of this series I have. I only got this because of my interest and research into the Valentich incident. Sorry I don't know the case you are looking for. Maybe the series " Unsolved Mysteres" might have covered that.

Ruman Uddin Well Ruman, you might have something there, I don't know. I have never heard of the "Jinns" before. All I can tell you is that this case is genuine. The pilot is still missing. Even after 35 years the family have NO closure, they cannot have a funeral because there is nothing to bury. The plane is still missing, nothing has ever been found. There was a small part of a cessna air intake found 5 years later at Flinders Island, which is 300 Kilometers away from where Fred last spoke to Air traffic. This small piece of aluminium was not boyant, it could not float. I cannot see how it could have travelled by itself under water across the sea bed and go that far, even with a strong current. Interestingly, it was found just a few hundred metres from the Flinders Island runway. The skeptics think it's from Fred's plane, I do not think it is at all. There is no evidence to support the claim. When Fred was asked to confirm that he could not identify the object he replied instantly with " affirmative".
