Are you still in the road in 2024?
Thanks Paul! This is my favourite video tips I've ever seen.
Merry xmass , About the ads, I use Adblocker Ublock otherwise RUclips is Unwatchable with all the bloody ads, so no ads for me
All the best Paul hope I might catch you on the wallaby in’25. Are you ex puss? Cheers Dave
Merry Christmas mate, loved the years content. You should check out Pebble Beach north of Coffs Harbour.
Thanks for the Xmas greetings! Yes, I made a video about staying there
Merry Christmas Paul, hope you have a lovely Christmas. Looking forward to more of your great content in 2025
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too!
Merry Christmas buddy safe travelling 🍻
Merry Christmas and thanks for the well wishes!
Hey Paul You shouldn’t need to suck the brake fluid out. If you haven’t topped the brake fluid up since you last installed pads it will just push the brake fluid back to where it was when you started to be able to fit previous pads in.
OK, I'll check that out next time, Merry Christmas
Hey Paul! It was great meeting you out at Thunderhill during the CSRG vintage race weekend. The plane footage overlooking the track was so cool!
It was good to meet you too!
In my humble opinion there should be more free campsites. Paid for and maintained by the government. On a recent trip I noted that all along the Hume Highway were free truck and caravan camp sites. Some even with showers and toilets. No pesky park rangers to tell you to move on, at least not overnight. A welcome site at 1:00am in the morning.
Thanks for your comments
You asked for viewers' thoughts. Here's mine. Safe travels Paul Where a cleaning service and site management health is provided (toilets, rubbish skip bin, bbq's etc) then a cost of service recovery fee is justified. No, taxes don't cover it specifically and I'm not here to educate anyone on government budgeting methods but I do understand how they work. Self contained campers and RV's in rest areas that have time limited stay periods (say 48 hours), arguably should be free.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Mabe look around the industry areas to stay overnight where it can be quiet and streets are wide for big trucks during the day but leave earlier or you could upset the morning trucks coming in to unload or get loaded you might have a few truckies sleeping in the same street as ya , give them a beer 😊
Thanks David
Welcome back to the lucky land mate 👍what do you perfer a motor home or the caravan
Cheers 🍻
Nothing beats a beautiful sunny day in forest
Agree, Colleen
Where are these camps
Gembrook is the free camp, Riddells Creek, the kangaroo camp and Little River, the $10 camp
Crystal brook caravan park in Doncaster East/Donvale. Good park within 20 kilometres from Melbourne CBD. Not sure on cost though.
I’ll check it out. Thanks!
Thanks mate great spot, Once google maps and WikiCamps evolved all the secret spots disappeared. You can still hide away during the week i find.
13:12 , Remember they can still pinch it by using the chains , jack it up hook up the chain so its shorter and drag it away, You need to get a wheel lock and lock those wheels
Yes, perhaps I need greater security
I would look for camps in Gisborne, Bacchus Marsh, Sunbury they have grounds and close to Melbourne Airport.
Thanks

G'day mate. We met you at kurth kiln last year and have been watching you ever since. Great job 👍
Thanks for watching, glad you’re enjoying the adventures!
Hi Paul. Check out Aussie Arvos, the lighting video. Using pir sensor and the fuel valve on his 4x4 fir security. I have fitted a pir and vibration sensor, there is 12 volts positive power to the relays. Then, to an automotive 12 volt relay. Then you can connect. Sirens, positve feed to brakes, a flasher for indicators lights. This relay need to switch the two sensors to negative i have found. If you can do it, it should cost under $60.
Hey Rusty, Thanks for the connect, yes, these are amazingly simple but great solutions for security of your 4x4
Great spots Paul. I normally camp abit further out of Melbourne like MT Franklin. I use Purple Line Complete Anti Theft Pack. It includes a wheel clamp and hitch lock. Have you camped at Firth Park Campground in Trentham its 60km from Melbourne Airport, on the same side. Next time you are on the highways western, Calder or Hume take note how far is the first truck stop rest area. Did you consider staying the night at Truck City on Sydney Road campbellfield? Over night stay is allowed - 16km from airport. I would also contact the BP petrol station on Calder Freeway it has truck, and large vehicle bays at the back of the Macdonalds. I have seen overnighters its just next to Calder Park raceway in 19km to Airport. The petrol station offers Truck drivers showers so I would say overnight is allowed. Its at the back of the Airport next to Keilor and Organ Pipes national park. Have you checked out if stealth camping around the industrial estates around the back of the Airport
Thanks for the tips, I'll check those out for next time.
@PaulWheelDriveAustralia if I had a drive way I would offer that. I'm only 5 minutes from the airport. There's always the carpark opposite of the Airport the viewing platform for plane spotters.
Nice of you to think of helping me, Merry Christmas
Great to see you showing off a bit of our home state. There are a couple of free camps in the Lerderderg, about 90 mins from Melbourne. But they’re more suited to tents and smaller hybrid caravans. We’ve done a couple of videos there ourselves. Keep up the good work 😀
Thanks for the tip!
Kurth kiln is a lovely spot, camped there in a motorhome a few years back 😊
Yes, it's a lovely spot
Hi. I have a Jayco Heritage which from the factory was way over on the tow ball weight for my tow vehicle. By moving "stuff" around inside the van I got it just on the limit but it was still very front heavy. To overcome the problem I repositioned the spare wheel under the van just behind the rear axle. That made the weight close to the limit so then I thought "do I really need two gas bottles" no! so I removed one. Problem all solved and the nose weight is now 175kg exactly what it should be and it tows like a dream. I think a quirk with some vans is it depends on whether it is a double bed with its heavy spring base (and storage) or two singles with the simple cabinetry. Ours is singles so it was very light in the rear. Keep up the good work.
That's a great fix - thanks for sharing!
well done we purchased an old 1969 ford country squire in 1989 for $500 US travelled the states and canada and left it at airport only way to go purchase a wagon
An old wagon, that's an amusing anecdote
Great info Paul. It looks like you have taken your Car & Van out of storage and are in country NSW. Whats your next trip ? I guess the next video will tell
Coming soon!
a electrical cord is not a rope leave as a loop and plug both ends together help stops corrosion of plugs, tying a cord like a rope may cause work hardening of the copper core wire
Thanks for the tip!
Some really good common sense and practical tips and advice as usual, especially for us newcomers to travelling.Thank you and safe travels.👍✅
Thanks for watching, enjoy the journey!
Great imfo
What a trip, well done buying the RV, and then selling it, no vehicle cost for the trip, that’s the way to go.cheers
Thanks!
Well done Paul A free holiday bloody fantastic I thoroughly enjoyed your west coast tour Cheers
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Some nice tips One warning using a rolled up power cord can cause overheating in the rolled up section depending on how many coils etc.
Thanks Mark
Great to see your journey 😊
Thank you for watching!
Watching these videos as we plan to travel that road on-route to Canberra for New Year. We have a hybrid caravan so narrower and lower than yours. Enjoyed watching, difficult to find videos of people towing on that road.
You’ll enjoy it - it's a spectacular drive, but expect a few challenges.
Canada looks magic Paul. I hope you get to a few more national parks before they close for the "season". I was there nine years ago, but Atlantic side.
Yes, they are spectacular. I'm loving it.
Nice one Paul, did they tell you what to do if you came across a bear when you were on foot, or give some bear spray or a gun ? 😁 that machine in the paddock is a oil pump, pumping crude 👍
Yes Robert, a fellow traveller gave me a cab of bear spray for my adventures
Paul, did you visit the historic Banff Springs Hotel? Would be a shame to miss strolling through the massive stone structure, so beautiful. Extra treat...the bag piper piping the sun down each evening!
Oh, I missed it. Not mentioned at the tourist office
It'll be good to see home safe.
Thank you Bruce, it will be very reassuring to be back on Terra Firma 👍
Wow unbelievable
Yes, hard to comprehend
Take care Paul 😢 safe trip home
Thanks matr
Culture shock, hey.
Yes, it was!
So sorry to know that this was your parting experience in the USA. Spokane does have some gang issues, and a lot of people just passing through. It also has a lot of beauty and good folks. Glad that you are alright. Safe travels.
Thank you
We went to Nimbin several years ago and you could get high just by walking down the street!😊
Yer tyre places use ratchet guns not set right can tighten the wheel nuts up way too tight makes it hard for you later to take off and not good for the bolt , rim or nuts overtight not good can cause breaking down the track , its quicker and laziness for them
Better change your deodorant Paul the bears must be smelling you from a couple of miles away, anyhoo keep having fun.
Good one Paul😂
I'd like to know what you think of Canada's favourite national dish - the poutine!
I haven't tried it, though not sure if I will when I see the description 😐
