Lost My RV In San Francisco

A Rookies error found me walking the streets of San Francisco trying to find my RV. The PayByPhone is a good system and the rates are reasonable, plus, the RV can be parked outside so there are no height restrictions. But, if you ask for a receipt, there is nothing on the paper telling you where you physically parked or a GPS co-ordinate. After several hours and about 7 miles, I asked a "cop" a...

    I spent 15 minutes in Nimbin one Saturday morning. One lap of the main street on foot and I was offered devil's lettuce 5 times. There were dozens of BMW GS bikes from the Gold Coast getting their stocks. It was like a Star Wars movie set from the planet Tattooine.

    Victron make good gear. However you are under some misapprehensions. Lithium batteries are not better than lead acid. Lithium batteries were originally designed for super long life very low current applications such as backing up RAM in machinery. When you force lithium batteries into high current applications they exhibit several undesirable qualities, they dont like vibration, they dont like extended high current draw, thats why tesla car batteries are refrigerated. There are a number of different substrates , some suitable some not, there a a couple of different types some you should not charge more than 80% or you negate its long life. Deep cycle lead acid and a 440w solar panel are just as effective but as you say weight is a big issue. AGMs also dont like heat or vibration. rcd protection is necessary for external power but is useless with an inverter as there is no bonded earth., you absolutely need an dual rvd which runs around $200 upwards. You need to treat power stations as generators and must be kept isolated. You also need to avoid a loop such as an inverter providing power to a gpo feeding a battery charger charging the battery while the battery is running the inverter. You can isolate the battery charger gpo or have an isolating changeover

    • @PaulWheelDriveAustralia
      @PaulWheelDriveAustralia 20 дней назад

      Depends. Much of the time I do not sit in a restaurant, so take-away there is less of an expectation. Though several times when I am paying by cc or tap n go, the receipt has a choice of 10%,15%, 20% or 25%, custom or "no tip" once you select your choice, you then get the final receipt and asked if you want a paper receipt 😉

    Gorgeous views, yet the Aussie is right to wonder about safety in some instances. When there are many each year who fall to their deaths, wouldn't it make sense to have more guard rails? Which is more valuable, an unobstructed view of the canyon, or the lives of several people every year? It seems like a "no-brainer." I guess it's an answer waiting to be given at the point when enough people figure it out, and demand it, for greater safety's sake.
