sorry if it this a bit unclear I am not a native English speaker and I have a mild form of dyslexia concord did fail for a lot of reasons, it being woke did not off it but it would be a wound so to speak (although bringing up overwatch is not the best example of a woke game that is succeeding because at the start it was not woke), the reality is that concord would likely have been a cult game if they had released it in 2010's instead of the 2020's, it did not exactly help that the games that have tried to be progressive have been plagued by a community that is filled with progressive people on their high horses bashing people that is to the right of them (which is the majority of the western world at this point as witnessed by "the orange one" winning the majority of votes) this pattern eventually turned into a noticeable phenomena of progressive games bashing the majority of people (be it on racial, sexuality or gender grounds) and this is likely what offed concord, they essentially mimicked all the sign that told the majority of people to avoid the game since it would be progressive (read punching down on the majority population) so because the majority had learnt that the factors of 'new game' + 'progressive art style' + 'game journalists being positive of it' would in most cases lead to the game being bad, now the question I would ask is (and I have a idea about why it happens) why did a lot of the progressive/social concious games just get released and then flop? my personal theory is that because the nu-game developers that is now new in the leadership roles of the industry is operating on the punching up principle which require your material to "punch up" (make fun/mock people higher on the social ranking) but the problem with that is that your game can only punch up and the fact that a lot of the characters are either trans (in which case you "punch up" at cis people because trans people are lower on the ranking than cis people, you know the population that we can find out how big it is by removing the 1.6% of trans and nonbinary people which gives us the percentage of non-trans aka cis people at 98.4%, you know in politics the majority of people is generally considered 51%. this is 98.4%, a lot more than the traditional majority), the same apply to for example non-heteros*xual people (100-7.1 = 92.9%) which mean that if you are going to make a game with a "happy guy" main character using the progressive punch up method you would need to rely on 7.1% of the game playing population (assuming that the distrubution of non-straight and straight population have just as many percent of people playing the game which I would believe is possible but even then I doubt that even the "happy guys" are playing games just because there are people in the same s*xual category as them) buying it which cannot support a game like concord(, it cannot even support dustborn), this all can be easily fixed by just not doing it, by just not punching up or down the game could be selling a lot better but the fact is that a lot of the people in charge is intentionally advocating for the games to punch up in the mistaken belief that if they can just mock the groups that are 14 times larger than the target demographic the group that is 14 times larger would throw their money at the game, I actually doubt that they are aware that the punch up technique is making their games fail since doing it would be akin to making their own job obsolete tl;dr the punching up technique makes game fail by punching (mocking/attacking) at the majority of people, the majority of people is 13 to 14 times bigger than the demographic that the main characters tend to be in resulting in a loss of revenue as the population that is 13 to 14 times bigger than the population they are t*rg*t*ng is not going to give them money for bashing them

I honestly do not understand the hate for the Live Action movies... not only Disney's, and not only live action movies, but remakes and reboots in general! It may be a different medium (sometimes the same) as the original. It may be a retelling. It may come too close to the original... but so what? Why the hate? In my eyes, it's an adaptation. And I'm happy that some people are allowed to explore known stories in different ways, even if they are very similar, changing the medium already changes enough! Music gets covers, games get remasters/remakes, and movies do the same! You may not like the result, but the hate for the very act, as if the remake is erasing the original, is super weird to me! Also, when it's a Disney live-action remake, are they disrespecting the original? I wouldn't say so... Maybe some of the people who worked on it do think that, sure, but not by the act of remaking it itself. Some people may see remakes as "trying to be better", "fixing what's not broken", etc. I just see as an alternative version of that movie/game! I love it when there's another take on things I love, and if I didn't like what they've done... I still have the original, my love for it stays the same! If I DO like it, now I have another version of the thing I already liked, and that's great! I... kinda lost myself on writing this. I respect opinions, and if you don't like a thing I like, that's okay! I just find it really weird how people are so against touching some properties like they are holy or something... it's entertainment! Even if it tackles heavy and important subjects, it does not mean we should "protect" it from adaptations. I'm always supportive of remakes/reboots of games/movies! I love animation, it IS my favorite medium, but I also love adaptations of it! Maybe to offset, we need more animated remakes of live-action movies? Sorry for anything. I just needed to say this!
