Fabulous railway layout, just what I would love to have here, at home! Added bonus for me, is the presence of my two favourite railway companies! Shame about the level of noise from the locos! Is it the locos or the baseboards, or a combination of the two? Get that fixed, and the layout would be perfection!

ROYAL WESSEX FORMATION & COACH NUMBER DETAILS. (FROM 5/1951) See Below. The problems of the BR(SR) SET Formation system ! As your clearly running "The Royal Wessex" I thought I'd give the formation details of this train as below, extracted from the original BR Carriage Working Notice Appendices (CWNA) of 5/51 from the trains inception. The train ran Mon-Sat only. The Royal Wessex Mk1 coach formation as introduced in May 1951, until mid September 1951. When the first alteration was made. When introduced this train did NOT carry Set numbers !! The train divided first at Bournemouth Central leaving the rear "Catering" set behind. Which followed about 10 mins later, going only to Bournemouth West. The train then divided again at Wareham, leaving the 2-car set in the platform, which was then attached to the rear of the regular 2-coach Pull-Push branch Set, to reach Swanage. The front 5-car set then proceeded onwards to Weymouth. In the London bound direction the same coaches reformed in the same order to reach Waterloo. Being a "Business train" it went "UP" in the morning & returned "Down" in the evening. Spending the day in Clapham Junction carriage sidings. BTK S34157 Waterloo - Weymouth (leading from Waterloo) TK S24169 CK S15023 CK S15021 BTK S34158 CK S15022 Waterloo to Swanage BTK S34155 BTK S34159 Waterloo to Bournemouth West RK S80009 RFO S9 FK S13003 SO S3914 BTK S34156 (Rear vehicle in formation leaving Waterloo). From the end of Summer 1951 at the mid September timetable change, the BR Mk1 catering vehicles RK S8009 & RFO S9 were replaced by a Bulleid design Catering pair. These being RKB S7879S & RCO S7840S The Bulleid RKB had a larger Kitchen & the RCO now provided both 1st & 3rd Class restaurant seating in place of the Mk1 Restaurant First Open (RFO). This formation lasted until May 1957, when more Bulleid vehicles began replacing Mk1's to increase seating capacity marginally. This train was of course a 13-car formation, until replaced on Monday 10th July 1967 when 750v DC Electric units 8TC+4REP replaced this loco hauled train.
