Good call, leaned into the pitch,
Good judgment by the umpire!
That’s a no call.
he saw a slow pitch coming and put his arm in front to get hit. he even picked the muscle area of his arm so he wouldn't get hit on a bone.
The fans should stop yelling at the ump
He never try to swing at any pitch !
The 3rd baseman didn't touch the ball therefore, the runner is out.
Let’s talk about the pitcher balking every time he comes set.
sorry little guy you should have stopped at first, you're out son!
The ball did not leave the infield, the 3rd baseman missed and did not touch the ball, runner was hit by the ball in the base path, the runner is out!!!
If this outcome happened in an MLB game the umpiring crew would face disipline with the crew chief possibly facing a suspension.
Terrible call!
Looks like the first infielder deflected the ball, in that case no interference.
Umps had the right call until they changed it. Not an appealable play. Definitely a bad call any way you look at it.
Ball 5
That was the complete wrong call. Once the ball got past the 3rd baseman, it doesn’t matter if it hits the runner and he kicks it into left field, the runner is safe and he’s free to advance if he wishes. Can’t believe the umps screwed up such an easy play. It’s basic umpiring. I’d protest the game if they lost.
There are only 2 possibilities for umpire interference. One is plate umpire interfering with a catcher making a play and the other is a field umpire getting hit with a batted ball. This play doesn't fall under either one so this should have been an out with the umpire eating crow when he explains it to the offensive coach. Hopefully he learned from it.
The apparent call of time was obviously erroneous, but you can't unring the bell.
out.
So the kid gets hit by pitch. If he isn't awarded first because he intended to get hit then its a ball unless its a strike. Now count is 3-2. Next pitch is a ball making it ball four and he's not awarded first yet. Next pitch is yet another ball but home plate ump finally awards him his base. That batter might want to start swinging the bat...just might be an easier, quicker, and less painful way to get there. ;)
The batter was on his way early. At least go down if you’re going to do that.
Everyone posting that this is a good call and a good ump appears to have missed that the guy lost track of the count. It’s fine to say that this batter shouldn’t get first base via HBP, but you all failed to notice that the batter had to take FIVE balls to work a walk. That is *not* good umpiring.
The ump did miss the count, however, so did the batter, the coach, and the bench.
Finally an umpire that has the balls enough to make that call. There's so much of that crap going on in baseball at every level and the umps let them get away with it, especially in the majors
Out. The contact was questionable and appeared to be close but null. The player was clearly out returning to the bag. If the umpire called obstruction, that is his prerogative and the runner gets the base he was going to.
Was it a walk or hit by pitch
Umpire interference. Goes back to 1st.
Correct call.
That's a tough call to make.
Horrible call. That’s a live ball.
He tucked his elbow in not out over the plate. Hbp… bad call blue
good call. Blue obstruction, he could have put him on two
Ump screwed up. Once umps arms go up ball is dead even though he’s part of the field. Should have have given the runner 1st base.
Can't make the call, did the third baseman touch the ball? You can't see that in the video. So no one on here can make the call.
Please zoom out further
Nothing here, live ball!
If the umpire is positioned to the outfield side of the baseline then he is considered as just part of the field. If he is positioned inside the baseline then he could be an obstruction.
looks ok to me. knee crosses the rubber (looks like) but not the foot. The foot is farther to the right then when it started, so technically that is towards first base!
The short stop was there waiting to back up the 3rd baseman if he missed the ball but the runner interfered, good call by the umpire.
Live ball. Easy call IMO.
dead ball
Anyone who sees this and thinks the runner is ANYTHING but out...I want to see a rules citation supporting that call. There are only two situations where you can have umpire interference. The first one is if the plate umpire interferes with the catcher trying to make a throw on a runner who is stealing. The second one is an umpire being hit by a batted ball before it passes an infielder. That is the correct ruling here and again...the batter-runner should be called out. Now then, having said that this very poor movement and mechanics from U1 (the umpire in the field). He starts this play from behind 1B in the A position. He is anticipating with a walk to the batter that the next pitch will have a runner at first so, he is moving to a position inside the diamond slightly behind the pitcher's mound, this is the B position. He is NOT expecting the batter-runner to try and advance to 2B and ends up colliding with him which contributes to the batter-runner being tagged out. It's unfortunate and every umpire has had something like this happen at all levels of baseball. All you can do is focus on your training, your movements and mechanics and hope it doesn't happen in a high-leverage situation. Oh...and you know the coach is coming out on this and while you may have the call correct, you have to give him a bit more rope before ejecting him because correctly called or not, you contributed to the out on his runner.
100% out, the runner made an attempt at turning towards 2nd.. should be out if he gets tagged, but obv the ump stopped everything
Good call blue
Horrible horrible call. Little league games get little league umpires.
he lean into pitch, the umprie said it was almost a strike, and there needs to make an attempt to get out of the way, not avoid the ball an attempt to try
Terrible call, batter didn't even move his feet.
It looked like the batter was simply recoiling away from an inside pitch. Although we don't have a great angle on this play, but I see the batter *retracted* his left arm, not sticking it out. I would have awarded him 1st base had I been the plate umpire. Crag Biggio practically made a career of getting hit like this. Look at this record-sitting HBP by Biggio. Sure, he dips down but he doesn't stick his arm (or any part of his body) out in front of the pitch. The pitch was going to hit him one way or the other. It didn't hit him *because* he moved - he moved and it hit him anyway. ruclips.net/video/gD6TNPT29gE/видео.html
great call - batter moved into the pitch to get hit; according to HPU in his discussion with the 3BC, ball was NOT in the strike zone, so we have a Dead-Ball Ball. Well officiated, good call, good mechanics etc.
think the pitcher threw 5 ball walk if the umpire called the pitch a ball when he returned the batter. Umpire can't call a no pitch.
Umpire is part of the Playing field the runner is out.
