    Tammy is a real treasure! I saw another video of her giving a tour of Berkley and she really made history come to life! Fantastic!

    I think many people in today’s culture confuse strong disagreement and hatred. Our founding Fathers understood the importance of free speech and the benefits of debating the merits of their positions. Today we have people who want to silence that debate, probably because their ideas cannot be supported by reason. If you can’t win the argument, shut down the debate. We’ve always benefited from a strong two party system. That system is now threatened by power hungry people who have discarded the “give and take” political ethic for a political style more suited for a banana republic. Just my two cents..

    Great discussion. I would add to study the candidates thoroughly and vote for those who preserve not tear down our system of government. Civil debate the merits with friends, small groups, etc.

    So interesting! I’m struck by the sadness in Mr. Millener’s comment about the Civil War. His experience in fighting for our country and then living to see it almost fall apart must have been heartbreaking for him.

    What a great service Alexander gave to his country. And to hear it firsthand from someone that was there. How fortunate are we to have this preserved for generations to come. Thanks for highlighting this piece of history.

    Thanks for the video! Tammy and I are hoping to visit St. Peter’s in New Kent someday. Not far from there is Chestnut Grove Rd, leading up to the Pamunkey River..surely the sight of her birthplace. Shame it burned down in 1926.

    So I finally had a chance to sit down and watch one of your videos. I have to say good stuff. I can tell that you are very passionate about this subject. I love history myself. I also love the trivia bits you threw in there. I had no idea that Martha and George were the oldest amongst their siblings let alone that they outlived them all. Looking forward to more!

    Colonel William Crawford's contributions to US History are certainly undeniable. I agree the circumstances of his death were particularly gruesome. Your video did indeed inspire me to learn more...and I learned that the manner of Crawford's death was apparently retaliation for The Gnadenhutten Massacre, where militiamen from Pennsylvania brutally tied, tortured and scalped 96 Native Americans (28 men, 29 women and 39 children). Mostly Lenape and Mohican, they were pacifists who had converted to Christianity (Moravian). They prayed and sang hymns as they were waiting to be executed by the "Americans" from Pennsylvania. Indeed, this tragedy also "reveals the awful depravity of the human heart" and is a reminder that savagery took place on both sides.

      @GWE1776 7 месяцев назад

      Great points. War is ugly and both sides committed atrocities. It's important to note though, not to excuse, but we must remember that the colonists had been hardened by the atrocities of the savages, and we must make allowance for men who had seen their wives and little ones tomahawked and scalped or carried off into captivity, their homes burnt, and their fields wasted. The life of the frontier at a time when all life was so much ruder than now was as fierce, if not as cruel, among the white men as among the red men. Thank you for watching my channel and my goal is to have episode 3 uploaded in the next week or so. I'm glad you are inspired to learn more. Thanks.
