The explanation is slightly off. The moon is yellow because it is closer to the horizon. Therefore the light travels further through the atmosphere, which scatters blue light, while red and yellow passes. A moon in the night which is high in the sky is therefore white. The blue Color is from the daylight, this part is correct. Blue light is scattered therefore the sky looks blue, everything behind the sky therefore seems also blue. During the night only the reflected light from the moon is present, therefore the sky is transparent.
