Does Reverse Mortgage Make Sense For You in Retirement?
In this video, let's explore how does a reverse mortgage work. One type, which is FHA reverse mortgage, accounts for almost 95% of all reverse mortgages and is extremely popular among retirees. They alow allow people in retirement to generate income off their home equity. But, reverse mortgage is not a free money. It is a loan that comes with somewhat higher interest rate and fees that can compound to a large balance.
In this video, I also explore the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage. This is so called FHA reverse mortgage I mentioned above. It is a popular reverse mortgage loan that is insured by the US government. After covering different types of reverse mortgages and withdrawal option, ...

QDTE vs. JEPQ | Best High Dividend Income ETFs Comparison

In this QDTE vs JEPQ video, I compare two widely popular high dividend income ETFs. If we believe Roundhill, QDTE's current annualized yield is 31%! QDTE uses something new and esoteric among funds: shorting (writing) 0 days to expiration call options or 0DTE to generate premium income. How sustainable is this? Is it better to hold JEPQ for more stable distributions? These are some of the quest...

Are aware of other reasons why would so many retirees choose RMDs at least in their first years into retirement? Please let me know below.
Really like this. Weve been in the 'ethe' grayscale trust for years in our IRA and it was horrible. Hated knowing they were charging such high opex % and the fund was getting siphoned like crazy. Almost no correlation to spot eth. We are in the process of deciding between fidelity and the mini trust from grayscale.
DUM DUM CRIMINAL TRUMP SCREWS UP AGAIN
The poison continues to pour from "Agent Orange" .
Every country we export to charges tariffs for American goods, time to level the playing field.
The US economy is going to shit. If Trump does something different and if it works, then good. If it doesn't work, nothing changes anyway.
Ready your popcorn, Let tarriff ego man do his work and I am pretty sure he will start new war and destroy US. Other countries don't listen. He can grow back ears magically not ecomony.
The closest thing to a self-sufficient country was the Soviet Union, and still they had to import many things. What makes Americans who voted for this guy, think that by imposing tariffs, they would make their lives easier when the US's factories have long since fled overseas?
because they arent well educated (its not just the us, its 99% of the world) and they can be swayed by saying big things. trump promised them they will be better off, and if they arent, he will blame the deep state, instead of acknowledging his wrongdoing.
FDJT & all his supporters.
A sore loser.

Thanks for the kind words!
JEPQ vs SCHD, the first one beats the SCHD since inception by 23.5%.
Their comparable period starts in May 2022. It could be too early to conclude.
I have had QYLD for over 2 years and getting over $600 a month
2 years is not enough to tell if you are getting a good deal.
Make a video about retiring on the S&P 500
I kind of did when evaluated Buffett's 2-fund portfolio, although it is not as thorough. I will look into that. Thanks for your suggestion.
In the long run I think QYLD will go to 0 because it's exposed to way to much down side risk. Sure it pays 12% per year but if your principal eventually goes to 0 then what was the point?
It can go really low hypothetically speaking if Nasdaq keeps going down with a higher frequency.
Thanks for a thorough presentation. Many focus only on the current dividend yield, but you clearly illustrated the effects of NAV erosion and inflation on total return. Over time, the same capital deployed into SCHD would result in higher expected price return and growing dividends. Perhaps, a hybrid strategy of reinvesting dividends from a covered call ETF into a dividend growth ETF might be one way to go.
It could be. But, if you are a dividend investor, can invest most money in traditional dividend funds and be okay with their relatively low distributions/share, I think they are a better deal.
Check out GOF, ABR, STWD, OBDC, IGR, CPZ, MEGI, AVK, ARCC.
Speaking of QYLD it's also a monthly dividends forever, which, if reinvested would increase the monthly income and offset inflation.
Yes, reinvesting is a must, at least partially as shown in my example. That means you can't rely on 12% yield to live off dividends alone. 12% yield turns into like 5-6% depending on Nav erosion and inflation. Plus, taxation is less favorable for qyld.
What are your thoughts on retiring with QYLD dividend income? Are there better covered call funds for that? Let me know below! Also, if you have video topic requests, include them in your comments. I regularly read and make videos based on my subscribers' requests.
Pls compare XDTE & QDTE
I will look into it, thanks for the suggestion.
Buffett’s use of insurance float investment, through Berkshire’s wholly owned businesses, makes sense (though with much lower risk than an outright leverage through borrowing). But the Beta part doesn’t hold up quite well in my view. Buffett doesn’t intentionally seek out low Beta investments - they are mere output given his preferences. Again, academics make mistake of assuming high stock volatility/variance bring bigger risk. Appreciate your content though. Hadn’t really thought through Buffett’s performance vs. float situation before. Thank you!
Agree, Buffett does not choose low beta stocks on purpose. This is just a byproduct of his investment process. Risk is often conflated with volatility in papers, just because it is convenient. Very few professional investors think that volatility is an objective measure of investment risk. I often talk about this in my videos too citing Howard Marks saying that risk is a probability of a permanent loss of capital. Volatility has little to do with that. To be fair though, these models can be useful to guide further investment decision making but in a somewhat mechanistic way with tons of qualitative context missing that Buffett picks up on. But, yeah, leverage was a real eye-opener for me personally. It is sort of hidden in plain sight within Berkshire's insurance business.
What do you think of this research paper? Let me know below!
You are al lmissing the point. Yialdmax Roundhil, defiance have ALWAYS advertised themselves as INCOME investments. This means they are more concerned about yield than NAV stability, This gives the flexibility of re-investing for long term, pulling for regular income, or even buying other assets, like maybe VOO or SCHD or any combination like that.
That's what I also said at the end of the video. They have their own costs and benefits. The problem arises when people jump into them, not understanding their risks well.
And YOU'RE missing the point that these ETF's are a smoke and mirrors game. They get your attention by paying you a dividend, to distract you from the fact that every month the value of your account is going down, even when the dividend is taken into consideration. All of these ETF's are going to zero, eventually, because they are unsustainable, and may God help you if you're buying these things on margin, because one day they will stop trading, and your account to go to zero, but your margin balance will still have to be paid. It doesn't magically disappear when your assets are made worthless. Relying on these for long term income is not smart, because they won't be around long enough for that.
Put 10K in QDTE and decided to just not look at it for the next few months and let it surprise myself lol

I’m 8 years from retirement and no way would I use YM in full retirement.. many reason and the biggest is consistency… a etf like spyi or call has a lower yield but pays consistent 49 cents and 30 cents. I like a consistent paycheck
I understand why some people in retirement go for YieldMax because it seemingly needs less upfront capital to get income. But, in 3-5 years, these funds start short changing retirees (nav erosion, inconsistent income, lower or stagnating distributions/share like what happened with qyld). It is a dilemma if someone has not saved enough.
CONY has had heavy NAV deterioration and that's a fact. It has just increased it's distribution as well but, I'm not sticking more $$$ into it until COIN and BTC go up.
One percent is not expensive when it’s giving you a yield of 60% or more. It’s all relative. I love my CONY, MSTY, NVDY.
These funds did very well so far, no doubt. Massive outperformance that who knows how long will last. A better comparison is to total returns, not yield, though.
