if it had not been for this tornado I would not be here. my dad went looking for my mom who he worked with. the next day when she walked in to work he asked her out. they were married soon after and I came around in 1977

Thanks to Judy Hoffman who shot this video, and Scott Koerner for uploading it. Even though home movies were fairly common by 1974, film of this tornado outbreak and it's aftermath is not common... especially film from Indiana. However to future video cameramen, this Super 8 film is almost entirely panning to left or right, and when you pan the pictures are fuzzy by nature. Thus you rarely get a clear look at the film. Point, aim, shoot a few seconds, stop filming and move to the next area and start shooting again. Pan only when necessary for perspective. I'm not slamming Judy's video, juts a note to potential video shooters.

it was nicely done but not true as to the true life atmosphere of Madison. There is no affordable real estate market and no preferable choices for long-term care. I grew up in Madison and went to both catholic and public schools. There were no options to stay in this town for young people.

You know the best thing? I think almost every one of those cuties actually loves the Ramones (unlike about 80% of the people under 30 who wear one of those shirts these days). BTW- "Sid was a punk rock king, Nancy was a groupie queen..." ;) (still a great song and video)

I was in Mrs. Harris's 3rd grade classroom that day. It had been storming off and on all day. School let out as usual and we took the bus to the sitters. I remember that my friend Larry Roberts and I were running around in the front yard picking up huge haolstones as they fell from the sky. It's a miracle we didn't get killed. Shortly after we ran inside and I walked in the kitchen and walked to the back door and saw the biggest,ugliest,meanest looking black monster I had ever seen before or since. Had that storm hit an hour earlier, it would wiped out half of a generation in an instant. I am still very aware of severe weather to this day.

I moved to the Hanover area when I was starting freshman year, just in time to attend the brand new Southwestern High School. It was so beautiful. I spent some of the best years of my life at that school. I was there when we got the gym and junior high. I had never seen what Hanover looked like before the tornado so thanks for sharing. It was even worse than I thought. Can you please tell me the buildings at 3:13, 3:18, 3:21, and 5:15? Thank you.

does this key West serve the seafood chowder that is the same recipe that the historic Key West Shrimp house on Madison Ave. served? The seafood chowder and French bread was the best chowder I have ever put in my mouth. Their Coconut Shrimp was also amazing. I have not tasted a Coconut Shrimp that tasted so perfect. people think that it all tastes the use but I do not agree. There has been no comparison to theirs. us this the use recipes from the Historic Key West Shrimp House?
