Abandoned Mine Hunters
США
Добавлен 14 мар 2020
We seek out and explore abandoned mines wherever we can find them. Together we photograph and shoot video to document what we find. Many mines are simply lost to nature reclaiming the altered landscape. But because many mines are sealed or gated by the BLM, Forest Service and Timber companies, we usually don’t give the names or locations of the mines we document. We just try to hunt them down and check them out before they’re gone forever. If you dig our videos, please Subscribe and hit the 🔔 to be notified when we post new videos. Don’t forget to hit “Like” and share them with your friends.
Vic and the Zigzags
Found 3 open of the 6 adits at this mine. 1 had a zigzag of track running through it. Another, was a tight crawl into 2-3’ of water so we opted out of that one. The next mine had some mill remnants but the 4 adits were caved. The other we couldn’t get to because a private landowner put up a gate, outside of their property lines, blocking the road.

We couldn’t get to the mine we originally headed out for, so on the way home we took a chance on a couple we had pinned in the area. Found both of them and were able to get in both of them. One tucked deep in the woods down an overgrown road. The other, in a big logging clear cut. Both a little wet, one was really thick, clay type mud which very difficult to walk through. Thank goodness for wad...
The Copper Queen - WAS For Sale.

We were asked to explore and document this mine by the owners who have it for sale. It has at least adits, 4 of which are accessible and another that could be accessible if the water were pumped or drained from it. The others we found could be dug open with some work. There’s large tailings piles around the property as well. This was worked above and below ground. The owners also have milling e...

we are the owners of this mine. How did you get thru the locked gate ? Thank you for not giving out the location. It is not an abandon mine . We have been working on restoring this.
@@laurasecord4624 the gate wasn’t locked when we came there. We were respectful, and as you noted, we didn’t reveal its location to protect it. It’s an amazing place and we loved seeing the artifacts, buildings and mill. We wish you luck getting it up and going again. Would be a very neat tourist destination if the buildings could be used to house guests.
@@abandonedminehunters guess our daughter messaged you also. At around that time someone went thru the district cutting Forest Service locks. There was a fire that went around our mine. We were lucky it didnt burn. FS didnt put the buildings on the fire map. We talked to the 1 st fire crew + they walked in. We unlocked the gate so they would have access. They were amazed
there is a lot of private property up there and some are hard rock mines
@@laurasecord4624 We are always respectful and try not show the locations and names of the mines. Other than the ones everyone knows of up there. We would love to document any mines owners will show us or allow us access to.
This is my mine. How did you get past our gate? It's not abandoned and we don't want people up there. Please don't share its location.
@@onamarie0955 we were contacted by someone else, just a few hours ago, claiming to have the mineral rights for this mine. The gate was not locked when we went there. We didn’t share the name or location to protect it. We were on government land and the buildings belong to the government as well so we toured the property and were respectful. We enjoyed seeing the history , mill, etc…
@@abandonedminehunters that's my mother. We're a family of miners and own a few. The govt. Doesn't own the buildings, we do. It's considered a "mill site" and considered mining property. Those signs are old and we leave them up. We never ever leave our gate unlocked, and have no trespassing signs up. There was one time someone cut our locks, and it was fixed quickly. We've been doing this since the 70s. If you go into the most up-kept cabin there is a guest book for visitors when we do tours. Thanks for being respectful. But it is an active mining site and we do wish people would not pass our signs. We have been robbed more times than I can count.
Absolutely awesome my guy 👌🏼. Please do more content, your narration was spot on and enjoyable. One thing i dislike is when people over speak on their footage when ones logic is needed only! Great work, very enjoyable bud 💯🔥
Wish I could have been their with you guys
Awesome Video!!!🤯🧐👀
Wow I’m glad I found you guys. Blue was breath taking!
We’re glad you found us too! Lol. It truly was a stunning sight! Thanks for watching. 👍⛏️🔦
The black you were seeing leeching from the rock is more than likely manganese. Beautiful blues in this mine.
Thanks for the info. It was an amazing mine for sure. 👍⛏️🔦
Thank you for putting that together. I appreciate the education
Thanks for watching. Not our usual video, but it really is a cool place to see! 👏⛏️🔦
where is this mine? this is a good one
Out in the John Day area
That looked nasty in there. Any idea how old the mine was?
It was originally opened in the early 1900s. It looked like someone may intend on opening it again, but it’ll take some work.
I love seeing the old cabins, thinking about the nights that were spent in there, the stories that were told, the sounds of the wilderness all around as you fall asleep. It was really neat seeing the flattened tin cans tacked on to the side of the wall. I do wonder what they did with the windows when temperatures started to drop. Neat adventure all around!
Definitely a whole different life from ours. Thanks for watching.
What a fun adventure out in John day that was
Yeah it was! Glad you joined us! We’ll be back 👍⛏️🔦
I first went up to the Bohemia mining district over 50 years ago. I always wanted to go into the mines but they were always sealed up. Now I am way too old and crippled to explore, so your video was really great for me.
We wish we could have seen the area 50 years ago! We’re glad you enjoyed the video. We also went into 1200 level, down to the 1050 and many other mines in the area. Thanks for watching and subscribing 👍⛏️🔦
What were they mining at this location?
The area is generally gold, silver, copper mining.
Thanks!@@abandonedminehunters
at 0:15 thats resent not that old with osb being still in tact
The shingles on the roof look to be about 40+ years old
@@abandonedminehunters yeah but not that osb board on that pile of rocks 0:15
I'm sorry but that solid shack would be my new home after repairs and some heavy cleaning. I would become the hermit in the woods, thank you very much! And thank you for filming your adventures and letting us come along!!!
That little cabin looks like something out of a horror movie.
very cool
At 0.12 and 0.24, a miner's bed for sleeping? Yes, at 0.45 for hydraulic mining.
where is this located at ???
We don’t give locations to help preserve the sites. It’s in Oregon. 👍⛏️🔦
I admit to this too...we never go completely prepared. Fort Knox could use a ladder, a small camera, and bright light in that hole in the airvent over the door.
True. There’s rebar on the other side of the expanded metal screen blocking that hole so it’s a limited view and definitely not getting that.
Show the cabin, I'd like to see what's inside.
It had rotten floors, pretty badly worn down…. Or so I was lead to believe. 🤔😄
Stay tuned Brandon, we went back to that area and this time I hiked down and shot video of the cabin. 👍😁
Another great video
Thanks! We appreciate the support. 👍🔦⚒
Very cool video, glad you guys got to check out the claim 😀
Thanks for the invite. 👍
Gump!! Get down in that hole. “Yes, drill, sergeant!!!”
I wonder who owns the property now, some of the buildings look still habitable if not easily repairable....cool and beautiful
The government owns the buildings and land. I believe a claim holder could fully utilize the buildings, but not sure. Many are in decent shape and with a little work habitable
Beautiful copper staining guys. Neat mines there and wet.
Yes they are very cool, not such a fan of the wet part. 😄⚒🔦
@@abandonedminehunters yeah true, and the sticky mud.
What a short ceiling Must be a Chinese mine
Yeah really hard to say, that was my first thought though. 😄
I worked in a coal mine in western NC that only was 4 foot high. MISA doesn’t require bracing or something like that. I was an electrician fixing/running lighting. I lasted about 3 weeks doing that gig before I had enough.
@@echo5delta we don’t have any coal mines here, but I won’t even go in one, too many hazards. Thanks for tuning in. 👍⚒🔦
@@abandonedminehunters there's actually a bunch of coal mines in coos County/ riverton area. Mostly incline shafts though. I couldn't imagine working a low seam 10hrs a day
Not too many mines (much less flooded) in C Oregon... it's almost all basalt. Where is this?
Oakridge area.
Location details?
We don’t give out locations for the safety of others and the mine.
Very interesting mine, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching 👍⚒🔦
What was the past production any records?
Owner’s contact info is in the description, he can give better numbers than I could. 👍⚒🔦
Super cool find
Ball park figure what owner(s) are looking for? Lot of mineralization with excellent potential. Really interested approximate cost.
I am the owner. Ten grand without the equipment we have or fifteen with the equipment
Sketchy as hell!
This mine is skechy as hell, you guys got balls 😅
Yeah it is. We knew not to push it too far. 👍⚒🔦
There's a Gold Hill in southern Oregon. I that where this is? I'm guessing - No.
Yes. 👍⚒🔦
Cool that you guys found a cave even if it was caved in. At least it didn’t cave in on top of you guys.
A nice little exploration guys nice colors in this mine
Thanks. We were a bit disappointed it was caved and blocked. 1500’+ lost to nature.☹️ Thanks for watching👍🔦⚒
I’d be terrified to walk in that water. Y’all are brave as hell lmfao
Sacrifices have to be made for the good of the explore and the viewers. 😁👍⚒🔦
Closterphobic 😮
Another great video guys!
I need to slow my camera movement down😂
Great video. You are right, as a viewer I like to take time to study what you are videoing. If you are too quick with the camera, I miss a lot as it goes past too quickly. Other that, good work.
Light bulb? Just random or a signal?
4:47 not sure why, but that water had me salivating
Sadly a good portion of this mine is under water. Thanks for watching👍⚒🔦
Ya gotta love the wet ones! Cool flow stone in there.
Thanks! This video was awesome. I have seen a video of this place before but the person didnt go into the buildings! Thank You & Regards from Ody Slim
Wow cool! We were really excited to find it. Thanks again for tuning in Ody Slim 👍⚒🔦
Was there a sluice
The ore cart inside the little building, what a cool find. Amazing place, good for you. Thanks for sharing.
We were blown away by the whole place as well. Tanks for watching. 👍⚒🔦
@@abandonedminehunters - very cool place indeed. BLM has taken many places like that away in death valley area
Epic exploration!! I am from Roseburg and love exploring abandoned mines like this and it’s awesome to see you guys get to this level. I have been ~100 feet back in the 900 level but don’t have any o2/h2s detecting equipment (I’m assuming you guys do?) and the water was deeper than my boots so I turned back. Do you guys have any kind of a group I can join? Love the old ghost town finds and mine portals.
Also wanted to recommend checking out the Blue Ledge just over the border into CA behind applegate lake. I know it was a superfund site a while back so I’m not sure how things may have changed, but when I was a kid I remember going there with my Dad and thought it was pretty cool (and remarkably steep to access).
Thanks! One of the scariest we’ve done, but had to see the 1050 before you can’t get to it anymore. Blue Ledge is on our list. We’ve been out there but couldn’t find a way down, we hope to go back with a drone. Shoot us an email- amhs3rmk@gmail.com we’ll talk about exploring.
