I have replaced hundreds of these motors. I have never had a broken wire. Most common problem is dry bearings. You can put a little oil in one of the holes that they are putting the tweezers in and hold it at an angle to let the oil run down to the bottom bearing and a little in the top bearing. The motors are so cheap, it is better to just replace.
