What do you think is a good hourly rate labor range for a jewelry artist? Also, would Hilary mind sharing the formula she uses?
Hi! I just asked Hilary, and this is what she said, "I don't think I can say what a good hourly rate is because it depends on so many factors. And there are so many different ways to price jewelry but I generally do the following: (labor + materials) x 2 (or 2.2) = wholesale; wholesale x2.2 or 2.5 for retail. Some people add in overhead and then there are different markups for different kinds of stones. A great person to consult with on pricing is Sharon Z (Zimmerman)."

Hi Alexa, thanks for your comment! My advice is to try not to overthink it because your strategy is going to change/evolve over time anyway. Getting started is better than trying to figure out the perfect way to do it. Think about it like any other announcement - give it some lead time and warm your audience up. If your goal is to build your email list, then use email as a VIP channel that gets first access to drops - and let people know about that! I hope that helps.

The problem is, it takes months to create so much jewelry for ONE drop. And social media requires you to post daily. So what would you post in the meantime?
Hi! Most brands I know that use drops are doing them with a smaller amount of pieces more regularly. In between, they're either sharing things that didn't sell out during the drop, or they typically have "evergreen" pieces that are always available. I hope that helps!

I listened today, looked at my Welcome Series, and re-vamped my 1st email! Now I plan to do the others in the series in the next couple of weeks before I have in-person events when I get most of my email sign-ups. Now is a great time to re-evaluate the effectiveness of my Welcome Series emails.

The last 2 years in turning my jewelry hobby into a side gig alongside my engineering job has been an experiment to see if I had the passion to continue with it. Yes, it has!! I retired from my "conventional job" 2 weeks ago and now I am contemplating how I want the next phase of my jewelry business will look like. It will be my next experiment as I learn metalsmithing to uplevel my skills and make the jewelry I really want to make!

Hi! I'm not super familiar with those two tools, but I imagine they just give keywords suggestions or help you do keyword research. No SEO tool will tell you exactly which keywords you should be targeting; you'll have to use the suggestions and data and then decide what works best for your brand.
