On finding truth in a confusing world…
Just another ramble where I slowly try to make sense of the world.
Every day we are surrounded by lies, many of which are so intertwined with hints of truthful sentiment that it becomes near impossible for us to spot the truth from the lies.
Sure, I'd never knock the use of evidence and statistics to find the truth, it's an essential pursuit, but what does one do if the evidence is flawed and statistics appear unreliable, or even when they are reliable, they're so difficult to grasp on the level of our soul.
Maybe then, you have to ask questions that interrogate the core of your being, ask your head, heart, gut or wherever, and trust it to take you to the next step:
- Why? why is that? why?...

I'm leaving the UK

To be honest, I filmed this video over a month ago, and have since been umming and ahhing about whether to share it. I find it rather terrifying to wear my heart on my sleeve in the way I have here by Beachy Head, to then post it online. But then, a part of me feels really inclined to share these thoughts, in case they might resonate with someone in a similar position. It's rambly, messy, and I...

My Little Swiss Alpine Railway - ‘A little Alp from my Friend’
Просмотров 3002 месяца назад
Something a little different here. I’ve been working on a little representation of the Swiss Alps (one small enough to sit on my ottoman to be exact!) over the past year or so, and thought I’d show you all the fruits of it all. Inspired by my Interrail travels through Switzerland, in particular going through Graubunden to Italy on the Rhatische Bahn, this is supposed to be a loose representatio...

I really wish I had a proper Rhodes - it’s one of my favourite sounds. At least we have logic. Anyway, here’s a song I wrote when I was a hopelessly romantic 18 year old. Though I’m not 18 anymore, I’m not sure I can say the same about being a hopeless romantic… Enjoy!

No the west did not cause global warming. This has not even been fully scientifically confirmed. It terms of toxins entering the atmosphere the 2 main countries producing coal factories is India and China. Not England, America or other Western countries. So if you are going to spread lies and miss information i am pleased that you are no longer teaching in the UK. Enough adults brainwashing our children with utter crap. And no we're not systemically racist. England abolished slavery. Perhaps you should have been teaching that lesson to children.

Don't get bogged down with politics...go enjoy life. Go travel or live abroad. You need to turn off from politics. If you think too deeply about this, you'll end up with mental health issues (much like many people of your age).

You are a very smart young man. Consider going to South East Asia; you can work remotely and have a great quality of life in Thailand or Malaysia or Vietnam. Or yes go work the cruise ships. Don't get locked in to being married with children at your age. The noose will only tighten when you commit yourself to high maintenance situation. Marriage and children is a high maintenance situation that will then place even more pressure on you. You'll be pressurised to get promotion for more money and then be pressurised to get a bigger house and better car and then be pressurised to cough up a hundred grand for the education of 2 or 3 kids. Trust me, I am 50 years old and this is what will happen to your life.. you will end up trapped and unable to backtrack. You become the property of everyone else by 35 years old. Your employer will be taking large slices, your wife will be demanding large slices and there will be little room for you to be you and enjoy your life. You are on the right track, but make sure you follow it through. I've been travelling a lot recently to south east Asia, the Caribbean and Europe and it has been life enhancing and feeds the soul. Take control now, and don't follow the herd, unless you really want to

I am Japanese and live in Japan. Ever since I was little, I have always admired the UK and dreamed of being born as a British child. When I stayed in the UK for the first time at the age of 19, I was truly happy and didn’t want to go back. As an adult, every time I hear news about crime, immigration issues, and rising costs in the UK, it pains me to think that the UK might be falling apart. Meanwhile, our politicians are corrupt, exploit hardworking people and ignore the increasing crime. Now, I feel sad that my own country seems to be falling apart. It is truly heartbreaking to feel disappointed in my own country.

Did you know that “they “ have been able to “control “ the weather since the 40’s ? And did you also know they use children to dig out a certain “substance “ for “sustainability” …all in the name of “ climate change “ ? And where do all those “windmills “ go when they are no longer in use ? Oh and I think they use diesel in the start up of said “ windmills “ . What a mixed up situation it all is … We do live in an upside down world though. Keep looking down those rabbit holes, you may even come across the Oozlum birds. ;) Commenting for the algorithms.

At first, I thought you were going to leave the UK by jumping off Beachy Head. 😂 You sound like a very compilant and Mr. Average kinda guy. You know, jumps through all the hoops and does everything by the book. If I was young again, I'd probably leave the UK. Looking around Europe these days, the state of Europe looks pretty grim. But Britain has been hit hard by Brexit, and that's not going to improve for maybe two decades. Reform will take Britain on a journey of extreme fascism to the right, and quite honestly, nothing looks particularly pleasant in the UK. I've worked in the corporate sector, and with all shanagins going on now with AI and potential job losses, things really are looking like shit. I'll be 50 in a couple of months' time. 50 years on this Earth working in a nihilistic environment with people who would stab you to death with a ball-point pen if they could get away with it. The workplace is toxic in the UK. I've worked for quite a few companies, and it's not a coincidence. Good luck!

I felt like this when I was visiting Japan on my own for fortnightly adventures every 6 months or so. Felt more like living than it being a holiday. This was in 2005 though and I left the UK in 2008 just before the world economic crisis and in the end couldn't really come back. I felt like it was bad before but in hindsight it was still the good years. At 24 same age as you I started learning Japanese and moved away several years later, once you've lived abroad for a while, you probably won't want to come back, I barely come back to the UK and every time I get reverse culture shock. You should try and take 3 months off, go a language school in a foreign country as a student for a few months and then try and get a job. That is what I did and I haven't looked back.

It's a curious phenomenon in Britain that for so long Tories have been allowed to divert $ from needed projects.such as housing, flood control, public benefits. The monarchy is sitting on billions without scrutiny. They're collecting on leaseholds and charging rents on public properties. Only recently are these problems airing before the world stage(largely thanks to U Tube.)

This is exactly what I was afraid of post Brexit. It alienates people from their own country. People feel betrayed and taken advantage off. The UK was worried about its immigration numbers, but what about its emigration numbers? Nobody is talking about this yet but it will become a problem if it becomes clear that Brits emigrating will accelerate non Brits immigration.

I was fortunate to be born into the slums of a nth England industrial town in 1950 and grew into adulthood at the beginning of the consumer society and the global trade boom so had many options at a time in which those options were relatively easy to access if educated to a reasonable standard and one had a bit of a go get it nature. Went to Australia in 1977 and had an amazing life :) Also traveled to 24 other countries and am currently retired in Portugal. The world is now a very different place! There are options, but all of course, depend on what you believe makes us (you) humans happy? And what your version is? If I was to offer one piece of (unsolicited :) advice, it would be not to ignore the reality that the majority of human 'happiness' comes from those around you, other humans & the foundational values that dominate the people & culture one lives within. Don't do the cruise ship thing!!!!! Ever considered Russia? Many Westerners have found it to be perfect? There are YT vids. If you ever come to Portugal lets have a coffee :)

I fully relate to you, I feel like a hamster on a wheel, I am working 10 hours a day 6 days a week just to cover my rent and food costs, there has to be more to this life. I wanted to pursue higher education but I do not have the money or time unless I chose to go homeless while doing it which is just insanity. I am in the South East in the UK and like you I need a change, I know there is a better quality of life elsewhere. So I am now saving every penny I can and I am going to leave, saying goodbye to my friends and family will be so hard but you have to help yourself to help others. I know it is something I must do, the angel on my shoulder is shouting at me to leave, do it brother and do not look back, good luck to you on your journey and I look forward to my own.

You are leaving your flat, are you leaving the country now? Have you decided what to do? Do yourself a favour - and society for that matter - and get on with learning about life through living it. Your inquiry into the issues you raised is woefully ignorant and limited. The only useful bit of thinking you've done is recognising that you needed to do something. Put yourself in a position or situations to test yourself, gain some experience and maturity. You're 24 going on 14. Good luck, but in the meantime please don't vote.

I’m working on it. More detail in the next videos. As for learning life through through living in it - I’m already doing it, and I’m learning a lot from it that’s for sure. I intend to document my living of it on here, including my thinking behind it, because I know there are people out there who appreciate it, and I feel a need to express myself. As for calling my enquiry ignorant and limited: why? Maybe you have some better questions for me to consider? How do you find the truth? ‘24 going on 14’ - that’s not very helpful, quite insulting actually. Please don’t criticise without having anything to offer yourself

Im fairly dumb but i've realised that global warming, man made global warming, climate change, man made climate change, net zero and climate catastrophe are all different things but lumped together in the one phrase 'climate change' and that makes us think they're all directly correlated and makes it hard to grasp a clear picture also. To deny climate change is to deny the weather every day! To affirm climate change doesnt insinuate a catastrophe or man made I must investigate more... On a deeper level i believe that our essence is truth. We live as the truth. What we are fundamentally is the truth and thats the only one you'll ever know. Peace and love Oh and good luck/have fun with moving out dude

    • @anthonyrobertbeckwith
      @anthonyrobertbeckwith 18 дней назад

Don’t call yourself dumb. You make a good point about all the different terms on the climate being joined up into one. From my experience of climate deniers in person, they tend to chuck them all into one and deny everything, even the weather sometimes! There’s a more dynamic and nuanced debate going on the side that acknowledges the truth that global temperatures are rising and human activity is accelerating it. The fossil fuel companies knew that truth since the 70s, before making a point of hiding it until it’s too late. Tbh it shocks me that online that knowledge doesn’t seem to be the consensus. But hey ho, ask who benefits and you’ll start to understand why. Thanks for you’re kind wishes All the best to you too

Not to be glib, but the climate has always been changing. We may well be contributing to climate change now, but it's very debatable how much, and whether we could actually stop the climate changing. Regarding immigration, I wouldn't blame anyone trying to better their own lives. However if someone enters a country illegally then that person can rightly be called an "illegal". It's a factual statement. You've guessed I'm not a Left winger at this point lol. I could go on and on, but I'm not sure it would be appreciated.

I spent time living around Eastbourne (Seaford) when I was a child. It's a lovely part of the country and I feel quite wistful about living there again. The thing is though, the UK is not the same and every time I go back to visit, I recognize that. I left the UK for America when I was about your age, I felt I just had to and it was impossible to dissuade me at the time. It's been a challenge; I had to stretch myself to adapt a new culture. But these days? I feel so grateful that I left. I'm very creative too (musician) and I feel so much better off here. You're a fine young man. BELIEVE your gut instincts. Remember; no decisions are permanent. At your age, you can always return. Good Luck to you. Keep us all posted. ♥
