Carolyn Solava Jennifer Lavin was the GAL appointed to my case with my ex husband. Honestly the worst person I’ve ever had to deal with. I can say without any doubt she ONLY cares about money. He was in a very tumultuous relationship and anytime I had concerns she would tell me his significant other is not part of the case HOWEVER she would let said significant other email her and call her and charge ME for it. There was also domestic abuse charges between them and she said, well your son wasn’t there so it doesn’t matter. Her solution was to have us each pay her $1800 more apart from the thousands she had already received and be a parenting coordinator. Well, a week after this my son was there during a domestic incident and the cops were involved. She does not care about children. If they try to appoint her as your GAL run far far away. Do not give her any of your money. Also she refuses to meet in person and only over zoom. Including with your child. Which is not a great way to meet with children not a personal experience and how are you going to read their body language and make sure the child is alone and not having a parent listen in on a conversation that’s suppose to be private. Thankfully the judge did listen to my concerns and we were able to figure things out with NO help from her. Thousands of dollars wasted and down the drain. I’m so happy I never have to deal with her again. *PLEASE READ. Your children’s lives and wellbeing would be in severe danger under the watch of Jennifer Lavin! Jennifer was appointed as the GAL on my case. She met, on zoom, with my children over a 2.5 year period only 3 times. The last time was ordered by the judge once it was brought to his attention that she had not spoken with them in almost 1 year. If not for the judge requiring her to, it would have NEVER happened. During one of the calls Jennifer asked my my 9 year old daughter who visits were going with her Father. (They had recently increased his parenting time.) My daughter told her she does not feel safe or comfortable around her father. She told my daughter, “you have a voice, but you don’t have a choice”. Despite a withstanding order of protection in place, DCFS investigation that was concluded as “indicated” (guilty) by DCFS, and pending felony criminal charges for his abuseshe continues to advocate for him in our divorce case while the criminal case is pending. Throughout our case her focus has completely derailed from what is in the best interest of the children and caused irreparable trauma and abuse. Her pompous ego, greediness and incredible negligence over shadows her judgement and responsibility as a GAL at the cost of the safety and well-being of my children. Despite her grossly limited and costly “investigation”, the judge seems to take everything she says at face value with NO supporting evidence at all. In fact, there’s credible evidence that would disprove the reasoning for her baseless and harmful recommendations. Our lives continue to remain in danger by the hands of a violent abuser that the court system and Jennifer has enabled and allowed to continue his relentless abuse. Her harmful recommendations have caused further abuse and endangers our lives over and over again. My children’s lives will be impacted forever and our family will never be the same. Luis Garcia If you’re reading this because you were assigned Jennifer Lavin, it’s too late. Here is one of the worst people you’ll ever had to deal with. She doesn’t do her job and charges thousands of dollars in return. She threatened to make parenting time suggestions that “would not be in my favor” to the judge, ignored letters from my sons primary care Dr regarding his health and concerns with his negligent daycare. She ignored an incident where my sons mother was pulled over smoking weed with him in the car. The police pulled her over, took my son and called me to pick him up. Even after endangering his saftey, she suggested parenting time in her favor. Another incident where his mother assaulted me in my house while I was holding my son was ignored and actually turned around and used against me. My son now sleeps on a couch in his moms living room per the suggestion of Jennifer Lavin. I can’t wait for all these bad reviews and karma to catch up with her. Avoid this lady if you care about your children. Edith Halasik DO NOT allow the judge to appoint her as your kids' GAL! Most arrogant, negligent, money hungry lawyer you will ever come across. Does absolutely NOTHING to represent and protect the kids. Complete FRAUD! 1. Refuses to check in with the children she ought to represent (it takes her several months or a year to reach out to children, not out of her own volition either but only after being pressured by either judge or a counsel). 2. Refuses to meet children in person, speak with them unhindered by the fear of repercussions of a present parent, and their living conditions; 3. Conducts no investigation, no fact checking, no interviews with kids or kids’ immediate or extended family members, teachers, coaches, instructors, doctors, people most engaged in children’s’ daily lives. The extent of her engagement is that of forwarding emails (months later) or only speaking with individuals identified by one parent. Neglects, disregards issues raised to her about children’s safety and well being (i.e.: child being returned from a parent with his legs covered in ant bites, malnutrition, domestic violence, kids harming themselves or threatening suicide on her watch, kids abandoned at night by the parent, etc) despite evidence provided (i.e.: photos, doctors’ notes, etc.) 4. Denies kids being heard and/or, when she finally gets around to speaking with them via Zoom, usually months or a year later, concluding that kids were coached, hence their testimonies are invalid; 5. Charges for no work done whatsoever, charges for items unrelated to her job as a GAL (i.e.: Yelp, Google or Aavo reviews of others), instigating communication/calls with ‘significant others’ she herself concludes as non-essential and non-contributory to the case, then charging for it. Yet, showing no interest in interviewing people most engaged in child’s life. 6. Pushes Covid vaccines on kids! 7. Threatens to take parenting time away from parents who cry over their kids being left with negligent and abusive parent despite kids themselves telling her they don’t feel safe; 8. Misstates or just bluntly lies about the information children communicate to her in her reports to serve her narrative and prejudice to favor one party over another; 9. Refuses to communicate to judges all the above. Kids, you and your entire family will end up broken, traumatized and divided as a result of Lavin's misconduct, negligence and arrogance. Luna S Like previews reviewers said, not only the kids are 'screaming out for help under her practice and it falls on her deaf ears,' she sides with abusive fathers DESPITE the kids themselves telling her of such abuse. She exemplifies gender bias and has absolutely zero regard for kids' well being regardless of evidence provided. MONEY IS ALL THIS WOMAN CARES FOR and will bill you promptly but does nothing to earn it, absolutely nothing! Called on her utter negligence and misconduct, she'll turn against you in retaliation and portray you as a parent-monster to the judge including in her distorted report. Vile, arrogant and painfully negligent, she should be avoided at all cost. But since she gets pulled from the GALs list by the judges (easy money) and not really hired by individuals anymore due to her increasingly awful reputation, my strong recommendation is to kick and scream at the slightest possibility of her being appointed as your kids' GAL LiveLifeSimple LiveLifeSimple Ruuuuun!!! Save your money and time. Worst and unprofessional attorney i have ever worked with! Rasist and stand by the liar in cases. She states women never lie yet women lie sometimes and she hates men! Run away or your case will fall on dead ears, charges way too much for what she deserves. Her license should be revoked!

This is what I am going through now after 28 years with a narc husband. He move our 6 months ago because I started reacting, many years of being under his control and I had had enough of sweeping my feelings and perspectives under the rug as they didn’t matter. Now dealing with estrangement from my young adult son and daughter whom I haven’t talked to for 5 month, I have reached out with kind words from my own heart but not one single word from either They are 23 and 26. They know the goodness of their mother, they know my 💔. Our relationship was great and we would have so much fun, especially when the narc dad was on travel for work. So peaceful and calm in our house How did I become the villian, the heartbreak is unbearable. I cry all the time, He plays the victim. I don’t know how to survive at this point. I pray that God will open eyes and open door🙏🏼 thanks to everyone that has educated and helped all of us going through this abuse , to understand the crazy making mind games😔

No values, no loyalty, no gratitude, and no perspective on what is really important. It takes true courage to rebuild, stay in the moment, and appreciate the good things that life still has left to offer. Unfortunately more and more have to do this in the modern day.

It may help for your viewers to know the origin of Gas Lighting The term "gaslighting" was coined from the 1938 British play called Gas Light, in which a husband manipulates a wife into thinking she is crazy by slyly changing the intensity of the gas lights in their home when she is left alone. He does this in an attempt to make her believe she cannot trust herself or her memory. There is a great old movie Gaslight (1944). I enjoy your channel

I still have so many questions. My brother has been trying to get a divorce from his wife for over a year now. They went back-and-forth with papers for a while, and now the papers are ready to sign, and she simply won’t sign them. His attorney rarely contacts him, And my brother has very little money, and has to pay temporary child support while waiting. He’s living with my parents, and can’t get a place because he has no money. He can’t get a house, because his name is on the house with his wife, he simply cannot move on with his life. he is in limbo. Someone, please help my brother. I’m afraid he could do something drastic to himself. It is all very depressing. Please help. How can he get the divorce without her??

I'm so sorry to hear what's going on with your brother. It sounds like he should try to get a new lawyer. That will be the best way for him to move his divorce forward. If he doesn't have any money, he might want to check with the local legal aid offices and local law schools. Often they have legal clinics where the students (under the supervision of a senior lawyer) represent people for free or for a very small fee.

He had been sign the paper four five times and never get to the final. She kept asking for a bit of those, of theses that he doesn’t has. Question: How can he get divorce without her?

With a >80% divorce rate in prosperous communities, alimony is male harassment and is outdated

I'm sorry you feel that way. (FYI, you might want to check your stats. The divorce rate isn't that high ... at least according to the statistics I've seen.)
