5 Surprising Insights From Starting Our Car Rentals Company
True lease monthly payment is close to $400
Thinking of using it for my Jeep with a roof top tent, I also have a truck with camper
Thanks for sharing. I completely agree with all of the changes you pointed out. At 100 K it should definitely have some additional soft touch quality panels, much less plastic, & an overall luxury feel. If it was my truck I’d probably double limo ceramic tint that glass roof. My tint guy just did one the other day, he’s charging $1,750 to do the ceiling with premium ceramic 😮
Thinking of trading in my ‘22 Model S LR for the ‘25 R1S. Would appreciate any advice! Thanks
so sexy! and the truck looks great too!
Thought he talking about how massive the ninija low taper fade meme still is
Sick!
I enjoyed the video. I think this is a very good review. I have a few questions. 1. The rearview mirror is practically meaningless. Will the rear camera be clearly visible even when driving in a dusty place or in rainy weather? 2. My wife will drive the Cybertruck sometimes, and I wonder how long the circumference of the steering wheel is. My wife has very small hands. 3. Of course, it is a truck, but there are expectations for ride comfort because it has air suspension. What was the car you drove before and how does the Cybertruck ride compared to that? 4. There is a problem with fingerprints getting on the surface and not being easily erased. So I'm thinking of applying ceramic coating to the entire exterior of the car body. What do you plan to do? 5. Is the sound of rain coming from the roof glass loud on a rainy day? Is it uncomfortable enough? 6. Does the roof glass get very hot when driving during the day? It would be nice to install darker tinting, but it's a pity that then the sense of openness will disappear. What do you plan to do? 7. I am concerned that the passengers' hands (especially children) will be hurt by the corners of the steel plate when opening and closing the door. What do you plan to do?
Talk about attention to detail 🤩
Another Tesla fan boy 😂
@@drewgordon6504 what color is your lucid
Doesn’t look like the stealth grey I have. Mine is darker and more of a navy blue color.
Enjoyable video, well done!
Chilewich is the designer / manufacturer of the mats. Really nice!
Yah, with how much $ to put down…
Looks very good 👌👌👌
With your rental fleet, what has been your experience with Tesla service? I am considering a Tesla for my next vehicle, but a service center is 100 miles away. I always read and hear they require less service, but I don’t know if this is truly the case. Thanks for the video.
@@carsoncunningham7993 generally speaking, if we have a Tesla service issue on a new car it happens right away. That has only happened with us on about 2 cars out of 200 teslas. My personal car has never had any service done from Tesla or anyone. The older Model S and X are a nightmare though. I would be getting the new Long Range RWD with the tax credit if I was buying a Tesla right now.
@@TheTeslaRentalGuy thanks for your reply. I would be getting a new 3 or Y. Haven’t driven either though.
I’m surprised you haven’t tinted your front windows. I’m in south Florida and it’s the first thing I do to keep the interior a bit cooler and add some privacy.
so they just changed to wrap great🤷🏾♂️🤨
Love my Rivian, but I can’t figure out why people think they are great at software. Basic functionality still sucks. Navigation, traffic updates, and text to speech are some examples in addition to horrendous route planning. But somehow they have the time to build a whole new UI, car wash graphics, and Halloween mode. Fix the simple and most used things first!
Okay, this guy is just here making shit up hahahah. If you are leasing a Tesla, keep your downpayment low since down payments are not the best financial decisions on lease cars and try to stay on top of your monthly payments that not surpass 10% of your monthly income and keep an eye on the insurance. Enjoy the car!
Second best? To Tesla? Okay bro lolol. Scared of your subscribers leaving or something? Just admit it smashes Tesla on pretty much everything but the hatchback
This guy has no idea which cars are competing with Tesla or with Lucid. No, super bro, old people are not going to be buying Lucids and it's not meant for them. And Tesla is nowhere near comparable to a Mercedes C series. Maybe if they did a C-Series assembled by the blind using only wood glue and missing a couple parts. This review is so scattered I'm not even sure what trim he's in right now, but I can guarantee you it handles better than Tesla model S
The Carmudgeon dudes just did a "you might be a bad driver if..." episode and this guy seriously checks off pretty much the whole list lolol
7:25 It's the best volume knob anyone who gets into the car has ever seen. This guy is clearly just making shit up as he goes without having read or tested anything. Don't review a car until you know what the knobs on the steering wheel do. For me it was about 3 minutes
Driving with the left hand at 12 the whole time and then texting = not a car person; viewer beware. Just go with at a surf shop, bro
Obviously a Tesla guy, it's in his name. But I would think he would be an EV enthusiast and obviously he's not. I know more about these cars and other EVs than he does and I don't even own one. Terrible video
The Air Pure is Lucid's base model and starts at $70k. Those ugly 19" wheels are the aero long range option. Anyone interested in performance driving should get one of the larger wheel options. Any other Air version has nicer trim and much more power.
Was considering leasing a rivian until I came across the endless warnings from others about their misleading ads. Expect a huge down payment and at least $160+ per month on top of whatever advertised monthly rate they show. And oh you won’t find this out until after you make the non refundable deposit. Thankful for honest RUclipsrs.
I'm trying to decide between a Lucid Air and a Chrysler 300. I take a strong liking to both cars for different reasons.
You would love Lucid Aur. It’s an amazing car.
I'm trying to decide between filet mignon and a Slim Jim. Any advice is appreciated
Where was the math
You’re forgetting that you can sell the car after three years if you bought it…
How much to you think that BEV is going to be worth after 3 years? Check current BEV depreciation - it's MASSIVE.
But you also may not be above water on your value after 3 years. Leasing protects that
So don't buy anything got ot
This half baked analysis supports Rivian’s non-transparent leasing ads. in California you’d need to pony up close to $20k including taxes upfront that alone adds $560 per month of amortized 36 months. their registrations and other fees , which many won’t discover until after they make non-refundable deposit, are also significant.
Aren't you gonna pay taxes up front whether you are leasing or buying, and aren't they somewhat the same between a lease or a buy? Also - without having to put money down, I was able to see complete leasing costs, including taxes for my state, after I *registered* on their site. Pretty shady way of getting your name and address, but I was able to see all the costs down to the penny. My R1S arrives on Wednesday. The lease for a Gen 1 R1S was really good, especially if you compare similarly priced BEV's and their lease rates. Contact Rivian if you want something in writing before putting money down (find the "Contact a Rivian Advisor" link). I'm going with a 2-year lease to dip my toe into the BEV waters, and wanted a path to not take a bath on the depreciation .
Loving this new darker "stealth" grey. Looks more sophisticated. Almost looks black blue in darker lighting or is that just my impression?
Does the tesla end lock into the adapter? I want to use my Tesla mobile charger for another EV but don't want the Tesla cord stolen... Thanks in advance!
Is there a balloon pmt at the end of the lease?
Is that the math?
@7:48 tried to go for that stalk 🤣
This video had amazing potential but it felt like you dropped the ball on it. It felt like you hadn't read anything about the car, it's options, how your unit is specced, or who the direct competitors are. Even in internal documents Tesla doesn't consider Lucid a competitor because they target different markets and approach cars in 2 different ways. You didn't know your facts, were on your phone while driving, compared a Pure to a plaid(??) despite the 3-motor Sapphire existing and the Pure being the lowest-end trim in the lineup. It felt like someone just handed you the car and you had to make everything up on the fly. I know you can make quality content and thar you know how, it just felt like this video wasn't up to your standards and misrepresented the car as a result.
texting while driving = epic fail
Imo study the car before making videos. Rim size, suspension, acceleration specs - “correct me if I’m wrong” why make video then?
Woot woot🎉🎉🎉

….I don’t think that is how you determine if a lease is worth it…
It might not be but its a mad impressive deal for what the car offers. Getting a 630/month deal on a near 6 figure car is great. People are paying that much for 60k cars lol
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 $630 a month is nice. But not when you’re putting over 20k down.
@@ayushmalpeddi2793you need to put down a lot of money to get that pricing. They aren’t doing you any favors.
Considering EV depreciation lease is the only way... at lease end is worth 10to20k less than the buy out
I definitely like the Lucid a lot. As a car from a functional view. Robust and sleek look. Sturdy looking power frunk. Trunk is awkward yeah. Definitely would like to get hands on to see the software to get a feel for it. I'm quite young so any car with half-assed and laggy software bugs me to no end. I play games in 144 fps above. Wish I had someone to speak to that thinks with an open mind. I end up speaking to my mother about it, but she's rather focused on "Its so low! I won't get it. Those guys will have back issues." Or "Tesla is more practical". And I agree, but that's not my topic right now. What I was talking about was how nice looking and how much I love the lucid from a viewer's perspective.
Lucid has an SUV coming out later this year.
Forgot to mention the $7-8k down + registration fees
Also that price isn’t accounting for taxes.
And what is he talking about for the buy option at $1200*36=$43200? The R1S costs around $90K.
Don’t complain on pricing when the big 3 are making nearly $80,000 trucks and $100,000 SUV’s. I like how random people say electric cars are too expensive when they forget other gas cars out there are just as expensive or more, then when they buy a gas car, you still have to put gas every week at random prices, buy oil every 5 months, buy spark plugs every year if that, buy air filters every 6 months, then after a few years after that buy a new alternator and starter among other maintenance issues. I have had an electric vehicle for 3 years and the only thing I had to buy was new tires and coolant just recently. I had one recall but I promise that is the only thing I did
I THINK IT looks like a Tesla plaid dark Knight edition okay y'all
That look sexy! Don’t care for red looks cute like candy tho
I agree they've taken some of the personality out of the driving experience.
How much down to get it at $639 a month. 25k ?
Exactly!
Around 10k
$8500 down
$7,000 + whatever taxes you gotta pay in your state. You can see it on their web site, but be sure to register so that they show the taxes for your state. You can adjust the number to see the impact to the monthly.
@@runbuhin CA tax is around 8,500 + registration fee + $895 (Rivian acquisition fee). And the base $7,000 down doesn’t work for the dual motor max pack. So to get your price down around $650 a month. It’s over 10k+ tax and other fees . Should put you over 20k down. Of course to pick up a new Rivian and be the 1st owner is nice. But the resale value has dropped. So to get a newer used one. Would be the best way in my opinion.
Great video!👍
