BMX flatland in a garage, usually with '90s music playing in the background.
Summer 2024 | Brian Tunney BMX Flatland
I seem to have survived another Texas summer without taking the entire season off, but it didn't come without some exceptions. Hey, how's it going? It's Brian, back with another aging BMX video, this one from July, August, and September of 2024.
It was hot, I was in a slump, and I had a few close calls on the brakes bike, so the majority of this is going to be hitchhiker jugglers. You've been warned. I did manage to extend my tenure with undertakers another few months, because frankly, the silly little variations that no one else will notice got me through some days and weekends. I have a few more to check off the list and then I swear I'm gonna try out some new ideas in the new year. Here...

Right now, I absolutely nothing to say about this video and I'll hopefully remember to update this part before publishing.

Hi, I'm back. I had grand plans for this final video of my 40s, but instead I just decided to showcase my somewhat daily riding in the garage. I realize it's been a few months since I last uploaded a video, but I've also felt less pressure after moving away from the post one video per month schedule. And this is the result: 26 things from inside the garage, ranging from undertaker to juggler wi...

Here we are at the end of 2023, and altogether, I think I filmed over a half hour of footage the past year. When I add in a full-time job and the responsibilities of being well, responsible, it's not too shabby of an amount of riding. In fact, it's probably the most footage I've compiled in a year in all of my time riding since the mid '80s. Of course, most of it was fun to do, but not really '...

With this video, five (5) years of consecutive monthly videos comes to a close. That's 60 videos since November of 2018, a feat I never could've imagined completing. But here I am, very tired, barely keeping up, and wanting very much to take a relaxed approach to the next couple of months of filming for a (gulp) 50th birthday edit. Next month, I plan on compiling everything that I still like fr...

I'll update this description as soon as I can. I just started a new job and life has been hectic as a result. However, I did get some riding done in October! I even left the garage for two tricks... 00:01 My first 540 tailtap in years. (I put together a NOS Federal and have been enjoying the non-flat thing the past month.) 00:06 Hop to ankledeath. I hadn't done this in years and decided to try ...

September became the undertaker to gerator month. I’ve done this combo in the past but never really went deep with it. So this month, the undertaker to gerator became the main focus of my riding. It’s a unique combination because as soon as you land right foot on the other side of the bike, you have to pull the bike back up and completely reposition your foot and ankle for the scuffing part of ...

The craziest thing about this video is that every clip I filmed in August was filmed while the temperature was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, this is the hottest video I have ever filmed... In between literal GoPro meltdowns, healthy sweat sessions and many liters of downed water, I managed eight different things that I'm kinda, sorta okay with. Here's a quick rundown of what I managed...
Brian Tunney Flatland BMX | 1991 T.C. Cycles Throwback

I have a lot of things to say about this video, but I'm kinda drawing a blank right now. It's a throwback run from the days of TC Cycles and the New Jersey Freestyle League in South Plainfield, NJ. The year was either 1990 or 1991 ('m leaning towards 91 cause the song I'm riding to, from the "Under My Skin" LP by Rest in Pieces, didn't come out till summer 1990 and I never got records right whe...

Due to July’s average temperature being somewhere between 98 and 102 degrees, I allowed myself to take it easy and not go crazy this month. Seriously, it was always too hot to ride. I made it happen regardless but no marathon sessions were happening. These were more like 20 minute bursts of energy that descended into an overheated sweaty mess in no time. On top of that, the GoPro heats up reall...

What cool memories ..thanks for the revisit of our youth
Power mower ..undertaker …walkover! That might have been my favorite….awesome stuff as usual!
It must be nice having a garage, not filled to the rim with bullsh!t, to ride in😂🤙🏾
It takes a lot of work to keep it empty!
Lol
Good to see you are STILL killing it! and got ALLL the moves! A buddy at my local skatepark was talking about you, and I said "I used to DO shows with that guy!" (like 20 years ago) :D
Reminds me of when I used to ride back in South Bend, IN during the winter. In the basement and parking garages. The good old days.
Amazing!
So so good. Every clip you post on your full brake set up makes me want to set up rear brakes on my bike but alas, no mounts.
Thanks! The back brakes are fun but they’re also a huge pain to put on and maintain.
Such a treat to watch thanks a ton! Cheers and ride on
Watching you ride both brakes and brakeless Made me wonder Is there certain tricks you find easier without brakes Or are not needed for certain tricks
Anything hitchhiker/juggler related is way easier without brake levers in the way.
I’ve been watching your parts for years and always loved your style of riding I’ve tried bits of flatland here and there but damn it’s hard But I always like to ask this question What got you into flatland? Who were some of the people that you looked up to? You are definitely one of my all time favourites next to Simon O’brien
I got into flatland cause I was into skateboards and bought an early issue of Freestylin that had skateboarding in it. Then I thought the bikes were much cooler. From there, it was the right amount of hey, this is fun plus an overwhelming satisfaction whenever I learned something new. I don't learn as much new stuff as I did 20, 30 years ago, but that feeling is still there and that blows me away.
What would be your favourite trick And favourite video part This is definitely my favourite video part And I love whiplash’s
@@jaydenbourke3722 undertakers of course!
Yes, still rockin! Was there ever a grasso 5?
Bmx vs crows!
Yes man! Thanks dude...my late pal Matt Williams introduced me to bmx and him and gonz man!
If you ever get out to ontario california you should hit up State Street wall ride. Blyther did an airwalk ad. There was the full pipes which are gone. Many of us locals hit the shit out of the wall ride that is under the Mountain Ave underpass between Holt and Mission blvd.. Imagine this bank and add about 6 more feet...
😀 *Promosm*
Awesome
Great video. I lived in London, UK as a teenager and my dad lived in Playa Del Rey and he took me there in ‘84 and I met Andy J and Spike J. It was a great experience. You are so correct. All our dreams seemed to have been build at Wizard and those old pics are legendary. I moved to Huntington Beach in ‘89 and now live jn LA. Still ride an old Mongoose with Tuff wheels and still love it
You sir are ridiculoous..... 🤯🤯🤯🤯
This is very nice. Well done, Brian.
Thank you!
Brian still rocking it out!!
Awesome i ❤the pinky squeak to undertaker to peg to peg walkover/decade!……rad as usual!
That took two days to get right.
@@briantunney looks rad!
🔥🔥🔥
I was just about to comment on one of your old videos to see if you were alright. Glad all is well. Why not do a bike check on your new ride?
A video bike check sounds like work! Thanks for checking in though.
I love these clips. Do more of those. I always had an affinity for the California lifestyle of freestyle pros of the late 80’s. I actually visited the original Haro warehouse when I was in Cardiff by the sea this past summer because of these videos. I tried to imagine the thousands of bikes going in and out of that office. I also visited an office building I found called Haro Designs. Thinking it was a retail spot I found Bob Haro in there just chilling. I guess I was a little star struck since I was completely caught off guard. But anyway these are great.
Yeaas nice❤😊good times from germany
Awesome…. Merry bmxmas …. Happy new years! Stay rad!
Same to you
Extremely good shit. That backyard rideout at 3:38 is scary as hell. Are those fly magnesium pegs you're running up front?
Yes, they're over a decade old and still holding strong!
50 whiplashes for 50? 😉
Probably need to wait a few years for that to happen. I can do maybe 4-5 on a really good day of riding and it takes forever to get right.
@@briantunney I can't seriously ask that of you. That's a tall order!
god those jugglers are so fucking hard. I tried them over and over and couldn't figure out a way to do them in my garage.
I switched to an Odyssey Super Circuit tire a few months back and the shape seems to help with circular jugglers but I'm also probably overthinking it.
@@briantunney I currently have one of those sitting in my garage that I'm too lazy to put on actually. I'll throw it on this weekend and see how it feels!
Can’t wait to see the 50 th birthday edit!
Dude those undertakers to peg to peg decades are rad !
🔥🥶
This man proving that age is just a number
WILD❤❤❤
Yeah 👍🏻
Still one of my favorite freestylers … that last combo😮
Thanks!
Awesome!!!
Thanks!
Me and my dad watched trafaelio many moons ago and my dad would always watch your section
Did your dad like boring bmx riding? Joking....
@@briantunney definitely not boring, your riding is like an art form and has great fluidity. I can definitely really appreciate it man as well as my dad
@@Thelastviking95 Thank you, i appreciate that!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can you do mc circle?
Yes but I haven’t really tried one in a long time.
There it is 💪💪 #greystoke ‼️
Haha, yes.
Rad… as usual!

All good things must never come to an end!
I don't think riding could ever end for me at this point.
I’m 41 and craving another BMX. I haven’t ridden since I went into the military. Love me some flat land and cruising.
It's fun at any age!
Crazy
Bro really treating it like it's nothing🔥respect
Nice dude
Its even more impressive cause, at that age, falling AINT easy!
It’s not easy at any age.
What? How?
Lots of redundant attempts.
