Land Rover series 3 V8 straight through exhaust test run
Просмотров 6 тыс.5 лет назад
Decided to make a new single 2.5" straight through exhaust for my Land Rover tucked high up into the chassis for clearance offroading and with the exit high up in the rear wing. The system is two 2" downpipes from late Range Rover cast manifolds with the collector below the starter motor and two silencers, one before the back axle and one behind. Quieter than it was so can leave it running whil...

Land Rover brake drums out of balance

Chasing a vibration on my Land Rover that comes and goes above 50mph and narrowed it down to both the front drums being out of balance. The internal friction face is running true to the hubs so it's just poor manufacture.

Rover P6 RVI to RVC tacho conversion test
Hey friend, how did you manage to keep the 4wd with the om606 engine
This car looks better than an Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Ti!!! It needs a set of fat Watanabes!
This is a rad unique build!
What transmission is with it ?
Hi Simon, new subscriber. Do you still have this P6? I can’t work out what engine’s in it. It doesn’t look like a Rover 4. Did you install it? And it appears you have a 5 speed. Am I completely wrong here?
Nice simplicity
It sounds just incredible
Fuck yes
Does the diesel pump need electricity to work? Or have you only bridged the starter?
Doesnt seem particularly fast. Whats it running ?. Im an ex SAAB Master Tech, and also one of the worlds premier Trionc Tuners. The SAAB Clinic Co UK
Would you tell me your tyre setup pls? Tyre brand and size, as well as the wheel make, please? (235/85 r16 or 255?)
I’d like to know also
Hello. I am mating a R380 stumpy and part time 4wd LT230 to a Rover V8 in my Series III . I am trying to figure out how the 2wd /4wd yellow lever is connected. Looks like you have a working solution. Want to share some info? :)
👍👍👍👌
Did it need alot of work to make it fit?
Nice, it looks the part as well.
Nice recovery and beautiful engine.
I felt for the 90 😔

Nice vid. I ask myself, whether they all could do easier with less pressure in the tires. Could you tell, which gearboxes/ transferboxes are matched to the engines in the 109 and 88? Regards and and thanks in advance. Heinz
This must be an early Defender 90 restored with the wings, bonnet, and radiator panel from a Series III.
It's a series 3.....
@@simonm16p6 it has an early Defender's steering wheel and dashboard.
That's a series 3 dashboard in a series 3. Definitely not a Defender. I built it.
@@simonm16p6 did you really?
Is that a Hi-Cap?
Yes it is.
@@mikefoley360 they're impossible not to recognize.
Nice
That's a pretty interesting conversion. An LT77 main box?
What gearbox and transfer are using?
Curious myself. Just bought an R380 'Stumpy' from Ashcroft transmissions. About to order the OM606 adaptor from Diesel Pump UK but need to decide which transfer ratio to use.
Love the 605 but apart from the awesome noise what effect does the m90 have? sorry if its a silly question.......
nice compliance............... - fellow p6 owner.!
This is brilliant! I came across this because i keep wanting to put an M57 diesel into a P6, what are you doing diff wise? not sure how much torque/power the stock diff will take. Amazing project well done!
Interesting. Never seen them move.
Does your Salisbury whine?
Not that I can hear over all of the other noises! The transmission noises were traced to the gearbox being 3 degrees off from the back axle. The rear axle has been shimmed to match the gearbox and most of the noises have gone.
Is R380 gbox better solution?
Transmission noise was traced to the transmission being angled 3 degrees out from the axle. Shimmed the axle and most of the noise has gone, just normal whine and a small grumble at low rpms and high load
Yeah, need to give it to me now.
wow that's sick! I have a om602 I'm trying to put a m90 on. which m90 is that, is it the one from the thunderbird super coupe or the Gm3800?
It's from a Jaguar XJR6
@@simonm16p6 cool, thanks. How's the setup been working for you?
I haven't touched it in years, been playing with my other projects. Might find time for it later this year now two of my cars are almost done?
Anymore info?
3.9 bottom end, 10 bolt heads, hotwire efi and edis8 ignition
@@simonm16p6 thanks. Could you please do more videos of the OM606 land rover?
There'll be more vids sometime soon, got a few small jobs to do on it first.
Please do us all a favor and upload more!
What is with that intake manifold? You could lop like 10 inches off. Runners dont need to be that long in an ITB/DCOE setup.
Amazing.
WTF???
Good job it worked!!
is this the one with the cool jeep wheels
If you mean the Jeep fitment steel 16x8 modulars then yep
I saw it on the forums, the wheels look nice on it.
I’d love to see the mountings and rad setup. Would you be able to possibly send me some photos of your build? James
The mounts are a bodge up using LR rubber bobbins, which are too hard for the engine. I've got a set of 300tdi mounts that I intend to fit sometime soon, otherwise I'll be looking at fitting a set of stock Mercedes mounts. Build thread here on Retro Rides forum.retro-rides.org/thread/199672/land-rover-ratty-om606-landy
Hello very nice work I hear from the video it sounds like a manual transmission how did this work for you my email is cmemyers@yahoo.com I am interested in doing this to my defender 90
Yes, LT77 manual. I cut and welded two bellhousings to bolt it all together. There's now a bolt together conversion kit available if you do a Google search, comes with adapter plate and flywheel
If I ever get bored of my V8 this will be my next conversion
Very nice work !! Actually planning to do quite the "same" thing...project is in the starting blocks....but wondering about the gearbox you used!? Original one? Something else? Direct bolt on from O to T ? Thanks if you can bring me some light!! ^^ ;) ...a french Rover enthusiast .
It was an LT77 5 speed gearbox, now replaced with the later R380 gearbox. It would be best to find a rwd O-series engine and swap the parts over to convert a T16 engine to rwd, but those are getting very rare now.
simonm16p6 That's m'y problem....especially here, in France! :/ LT77 is what i'm planning to run on the T16T....just wonder if the clutchcase(??) (Bellhousing?) from a O series is enough and bolt-on on the T16!?? What about starter? Flyweel? ....I'll see all of this when I'll have everything in hands....but looking onward to collect all infos i could before! I will see the projet car this week....but have à 72' buick to finish...so work don't start before winter! ;) By the way, thanks for that quick answer!!! Mike.
You need a complete rwd O series, which will come with bellhousing, engine backplate, flywheel, spigot bearing, sump, starter motor etc. It all just bolts onto the T series engine! I think the M series had the better cambelt setup, with a compact water pump, not the big water pump that hangs off the side of the block, but those were 1988 to 1992.
Wonderful!!! That's what i hoped to hear!! ^^ Many thanks Simon!
Does it need to be a Rover engine? The oil filter location at the front interferes with the front crossmember and needs a lot of work to clear. Best to look for another manufacturers engine that's more modern and commonly available in rwd from the factory.
Is it just me watching that sheet getting close to being sucked into the turbo? 😨
I was having anxiety issues watching that.
I plan on building something similar. 109 om606 and disco axles. What gearbox are you using? Ollie North kit or homebrew?
Homebrew cut'n'shut, done the main parts of the conversion years ago before it was cool and the Ollie North and GazFab kits appeared on the scene. LT77 and LT230, real tight squeeze in the chassis, but a snug fit. Standard 24 spline axles but with 3.54 diffs.
Very nice mate I like the body work on the landy I'd leave it like that if it was mine 😀
Paint is staying (except for the natural flaking), chassis, running gear and electrics come first!
which engine do you have the turbo on ??
Rover twincam from an early 820
