This is a load of crap. The bel-époque buildings have 'peaked' so of course they have to be demolished and replaced with silly facadism. Yes it is imposed from above ('dropped from the moon'), no participation whatsoever and it just quickly started demolishing the heritage before the court could arrest the permit. The new facades have nothing to do with the surroundings and are the same everywhere. It has nothing to do with sharing or Scandinavian togetherness or something like that. It's just maximizing profits with mainly office space on the area with just enough appartments to be accepted and a luxury hotel, but everything is just private. I don't care you have your private nice view over the Grand Place, it's classic capitalist I've got mine and fuck everyone else. Also, I love Scandinavia, but all the Scandinavian snobbery and contempt for the Brussels heritage right in the city center or neglect for the local situation is baffling.
