The Hakka Experiment
Добавлен 26 дек 2019
We are Hakka and Christine, very part time travellers and wannabe retired travellers!
I'm an ex cop, ex kayak instructor and tour company owner (thanks COVID), now working as Operations Manager for Drifta Camping & 4WD. Christine has been a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and has the aches and pains to prove it (as all long term nurses will know).
We love getting away in our van. The coast or the outback - it doesn't matter to us - we love it all and can't wait for our next adventure.

Lazy Daze On Our Favourite NSW Beach
We've been visiting Seal Rocks since the 70's - when it was a dirt road in.
I can still remember a surf trip we did up there 1n 1979 where I was a terrified passenger in my mates VW Beetle as he raced another mate side by side along that road ( I use the term 'race' loosely - it was a Beetle after all).
Anyway, Christine and I head up for a last stay before winter sets in. We had great weather and managed to get onto the beach every day, but also had a chance to check out the lighthouse, Wallingat National Park and generally do bugger all.......it was soo nice.

Craigs Hut, Ned Kelly and who knows what else!
Просмотров 2523 месяца назад
This is our first time down in the Victorian High Country, and we were stunned by the beauty of the place. As this is a sort of recce trip for us to check out where we can take the van we didn't have time to see a lot of the special places down there, but we did manage to get up to the amazing Craigs Hut, created our own little Ned Kelly trail to follow, saw some beautiful places and ended up i...
South Coast Part 2 - Seals, Stingrays and a good time
Просмотров 2 тыс.6 месяцев назад
In Part 2 we continue our stay at Wallaga Lake - visiting the great little Camel Rock Brewery and Narooma - where we get up close to some seals. From there we head north to stunning Bendalong, meet some friendly stingrays and check out Morton National Park. We had a great time and hope you enjoy watching .....but.....keep it to yourself - it's our little secret :) WHO ARE WE? Hakka and Christin...
NSW South Coast Underrated & Unbelievable
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.7 месяцев назад
The NSW South Coast is a region that has something for everyone - if white sandy beaches or lush farmland or rugged escarpments, even mind blowing coastal scenery aren't your thing - I can't help you and this video is probably not for you. This area has all that and more, it's not far from our major population centres but still doesn't have the hustle and bustle of the North coast. Thanks for d...
Reliving The Past. Old haunts. Funny stories

Bloody hell, it's been 2 years since we did a video....can't believe it's that long. Please accept our apologies, we've been too busy working to find the time to make any vids.......hopefully that's going to change soon. With a new video comes a new name - we've changed from Escape with Hakka and Chrissa to The Hakka Experiment. That's our channel name from now on. The other one was too long :)...
Flinders Ep 2 - Arkaroola and a dead Jeep
Просмотров 513 года назад
Part 2 of our Flinders Trip has us leaving Rawnsley Park and heading up to Arkaroola. A stunningly rugged and beautiful place. From there we start making our way home stopping at some great locations and seeing some pretty cool things. I won't be doing anymore of our previous trips as the quality of the video is pretty average. It's been processed too many times by RUclips and I'm a bit disappo...
Flinders Ep 1
Просмотров 643 года назад
While we all dream of getting away but reality has us in lockdown I thought I'd redo one of our earlier trips - 2016 to The Flinders Ranges. If you haven't been, you've gotta go. It's accessible yet you can still hide away, the scenery is awe inspiring, there are iconic 4WD tracks and a huge slice of Australia's geologic history is right there in front of you. If you are new to 4WD touring, thi...
Kayak Escape Colo River
Просмотров 7743 года назад
A bit of lockdown escapism..... Chrissa and I spend a couple of days on the Colo River. We get to see plenty of wildlife, put the kayaks in and generally relax around camp. We stayed at Colo Riverside - you can't camp there anymore and I'm not sure if it will ever re-open....I've got my doubts. Luckily, there are other camping options up there, and it is a stunningly beautiful place. The wildli...

A 2 week run down to North Durras, Lake Conjola and Currarong. The weather was pretty average - wet and windy, but we still had a good time. We weren't at work right!
Kayak Escape - Dolphin Encounter
Просмотров 4724 года назад
Back in 2013, I was down at Sussex Inlet on the NSW South Coast with a school group on a kayak trip when we had this amazing dolphin encounter. Unbeknown to us, she was a local celebrity and had been socialising with the locals for a while. After the tour, I raced back home, grabbed Chrissa and we went looking for the dolphin.
Country Escape to the Bingara Region

We headed up to Barraba for a few days in 2019, had a bit of a look around, then moved on up to Bingara. We bush camped on the Gwydir River and had such a great time. So much to see and do in this area from Mt Kaputar, Sawn Rocks, Rocky Creek Glacial area, gem and gold fossicking, museums....you get the picture! The people are friendly, the towns have plenty to see and do, so if you haven't bee...
Tinny Rebuild

A quick chat about boats, our 'new tinny and how we rebuilt it and what we did during 2019.
Thank you for the visitor’s view of our part of the world. You can see why we retired here rather than the busier north coast. Loved Part 1 too.
It’s definitely a beautiful part of the world. Now I’m jealous! We would love to retire down there. I’m less than a year from retiring and very excited about it. Glad you liked the video and thanks for commenting Raymond.
Guys lovely episode, I've been there and as you said stunning place shame about the wind though. Thank you. Enjoy your content.cheers.
Thanks Ray. Can't wait for summer, so we can head back there. The wind didn't really bother us - the weather never does - we just change plans to suit the day.
Mate , what an awesome video. So well done with some great locations. Looked like the perfect getaway 👍
Thanks Shad, always too short though aren’t they 🙄

Hi I have the same car as you have you had it weighed or have you had a gvm upgrade Great vid thaks
Nah, we haven't had it weighed or a GVM upgrade. Our van is pretty light compared to the offroad vans. Pretty confident we are under our weights though probably should get it checked to be sure.
What a fantastic episode, thoroughly enjoyed it, we love that part of the coat Thanks for sharing we're looking forward to more of your adventures
Thanks guys, appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. The south coast of NSW is a great area.
Thank you so much for this amazing video .
We're glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching and saying g'day
Well what a breath of fresh air you both are. Thoroughly enjoyed the content guys. Great camera and narrative work. Please keep going with the content. I’m about to set off very soon as a solo hybrid caravaner , I found what you show very inspirational … you’re both awesome. 👍🏼
Thanks heaps mate. We both appreciate and are humbled by your comments. We both hope you enjoy your trip....thanks again.
Guys good onya, I understand that disease called work. But keep the content coming. The camera work is fantastic and the narrator doesn't do a bad job as well. Thanks 👍.
Thanks mate.......I can only try and hopefully improve as I go?
Well done, absolutely love the content and the history, storytelling. Your story is great. Keep up the content. Great job.
Have you ventured down to Eden ?. Such a beautiful little town that I have visited twice in the last year . If you get there try some of the produce from the Sapphire Smokehouse, It is really good & only re-opened a little over a year ago.
Mate, we were down at Eden for a day in part 1. Didn't get to Sapphire Smokehouse though......next time.
Well guys , what a fantastic two episodes, Natasha and i really enjoyed those, you film and edit these so good mate 👍👍👍. And the Lemonade scones looked awesome 👌
Ha ha thanks mate. We have the foremost chef on YT to thank for the scones
Still didn't show the bottom of them. A real RUclips chef should always show the bottom of what he cooks 😂
Ha ha.....the bottom was perfect my friend
shhh its a secret!
Ha ha.....I'm with you
Hakka pure gold mate

@@thehakkaexperiment I bet. a few weeks ago we encountered a seal and bioluminescence at night in Burrill lake. that was pretty special
Very nice
It's an amazing place...thanks for watching
Nice to see views of my home town Barraba and surrounds. Have lived in NZ for 43 years.
It's a nice town Ken, we enjoyed our stay. You'd almost be an NZ local by now 😁
@@thehakkaexperiment i'm almost accepted now. Because I always identify as Australian doesn't help, but being an all black fan is mitigating.
Tnx for sharing and putting this together so nicely. Great 👍 work.
Thanks Rob
Another awesome video mate, spewin about the jeep but better at the end of the holiday than at the start. I reckon the flinders ranges is somewhere you can just keep going back too
Yeh heap of shit. The Flinders is like that. We missed heaps and would spend more time there next trip
What a great video mate, really enjoyed it 👍👍
Thanks mate, I wanna go back!
