Thank you for posting this. When this song came out, it was a really monumental time in my life. I was still in the Navy and wondering where I wanted to be in life. But I knew that I would be happy.

I don't understand some of the highly praising comments here. Basically, it's a great idea to give this good song a strong musical sense of togetherness with new inspirations. Music thrives on new interpretations - but as with everything, there are limits. The drummer and guitarists inspire me, and the sax intro is also good. On the other hand, the vocals and the mixing of alto and soprano saxophones don't convince me at all. After all, you have to remember that the success of the song is largely due to the sax solo and Gerry Rafferty's solid, calm vocals. It is one thing to incorporate a lyric harmoniously into the melody, but to do this almost croakily with an otherwise rather unspectacular singing voice is quite another. The elementary sax part is clearly emphasised visually by the imitations from the masses. However, watering down Raphael Ravenscroft's outstanding performance in the choral style of "anyone can do it" completely cancels out this homage.

One instrument i wish i had learnt the sax but took the trumpet instead sounded fantastic
