I remember watching your Taiwan videos in high school and feeling so inspire to chase my dreams of learning mandarin and living in Taiwan. I left my home town and went on to university with the goal of learning mandarin and transferring to National Taiwan university from there but while in university I was drugged and r*ped which led me to failing all my classes and moving back home. I’m almost 21 now and I’m working as a CNA, I love being able to help those in need but It breaks my heart thinking about how I never fulfilled my dreams. Thank you for this reminder ❤

I feel so seen my goodness! For me I'm a creative, I've stuck to one career, Ive been able to grow in my career, but I'm in an on going battle with self-doubt , imposter syndrome caused by not stewing in my wins just constantly moving on immediately. Feeling like I have something to prove isolating myself from my friends cause I feel like I've not accomplished enough even though I should actually be proud of myself. I'm working on these insecurities this year as well while trying not to get too distracted by all my different interest.

They are perplexed because you don’t understand the question you live in America. You were born in America, but you are African. You don’t have to be born in Africa to be African. Your citizenship is in America but your blood and DNA is African. We are not black. we are Africans. I’ll be so glad when we embrace who we are and stop telling people where we live our origin, we are our origin. We are not our citizenship that could be changed anytime depending on what you move to, but you can never change an African. We are not black. Please people understand. Black is not even a person or a human being. We’re Africans. They are people that’s our origin that’s why they’re perplexed that you don’t know that you’re African.

I really enjoyed hearing your insights about teaching and living abroad. As someone who will graduate with their Bachelor's in May 2025 but is unsure of their career path, your main points spoke to my anxiety and concerns about making the decision to live and work abroad for a couple of years. I appreciated your commentary that being abroad *can* provide a sense of independence and groundedness, especially if you don't have a career goal in mind. However, can't you also make the same argument that if you don't have a plan for why you're moving abroad, then you're more likely to feel lost? At least, this is the dilemma I'm facing now. Just worried about a strained job market by the time I graduate (in America), and whether my goals of being abroad will be hindered by professional aspirations...

I'm a fresh graduate with a 4-year bachelor's degree in English Literature from Pakistan, a non-native English-speaking country. I'm on a budget and a beginner looking to teach English abroad, especially in countries like the Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Dubai) and Turkey. Should I start with a TEFL certification, or would teaching online first would be better for my career goals? Which option is more advantageous for someone like me? Additionally, could you suggest affordable TEFL providers that are best for beginners and autgentic Online English language teaching platforms? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Where do you go about finding networking events to get in front of people? How long were you in Taiwan for?

I actually did this through C.I.E.E. I would recommend watching videos such as this for C.I.E.E. AND for Green Heart Travel AND Also for Travel Bud Co. Please also be sure to ask the tough questions such as how your program's staff assists people who get injured or sick. Are things like owning and operating motorbikes allowed or will doing so disqualify you for participation in future programs. Many schools you may work at are clueless if you were ever to get into a motorbike accident. This is important since some countries like Thailand have seasons where it freakin' rains like crazy for weeks at a time. This can make it hazardous to operate a motorbike on public roads. So If you get into an accident, you may very well be ON YOUR OWN, up s**T's creek without a paddle! Also, ask questions as to whether or not negative written reviews on various reviews sites if will also disqualify you for future participation in teach abroad programs. Some organizations may put you on an unwritten so-called 'black list' for being known as a whiny troublemaker. I wrote about a negative experience about one such program and I am facing a situation where I may be on such. a black-list for writing a negative review about a program and now the program administrators will not have ANYTHING to do with me. LOL. It's unfortunate but yep, it does happen. In my case, I owned a Suzuki scooter. Not a large motorcycle, just a 150cc scooter I used to put around in. Anyone who has lived in Thailand knows that it can RAIN LIKE CRAZY during some months of the year. This was a HUGE problem for me as I actually got into. a motorcycle accident and ended up breaking one of my arms. The school I worked at actually sent one of their own staff to confirm that I was in good health. I won't go so far as to call Teaching English abroad a 'Trap, I would say to DEFINITELY be sure to ask some SERIOUS QUESTIONS of whatever program you get into. Thai people are wonderful. Health care is reasonably modern and relatively inexpensive compared to the U.S. However, some program administrators are clueless some school staff are clueless and some may argue that some program participants are clueless also, myself included such as my decision to operate a scooter on a public road just outside of one of the largest cities in the world.

Avoid countries with the awful "no fail" policy. Also avoid thailand and third world se asia.

As a 36 year old who's been working 60 hour weeks for 20 years in the US, I'm just wanting stability and peace. Therefore my wife and I are super excited for the possibility...
