      I meant, the day I did the edit and voice-over for this video was a long day and I did all the editing around midnight. I was ready for bed. Yeah this video was edited probably a week after I did the job. Will do better videos moving forward!

    Dude, your big mistake wasn't cutting the liner short, your big mistake was NOT INSTALLING A PRE-SLOPE underneath the pan liner (along with the proper weep hole drainage)! Water will soak through the tile onto the liner and, since it cannot drain out, it will stagnate, mold, and soak your mud pan until it chemically leaches out and physically breaks down.

    • @AxisHomesPlus
      @AxisHomesPlus Месяц назад

      @@dp9324. I did a pre-sloped pan, as I said in the video. Maybe you weren’t listening. That pan I was scraping before the liner is the pre-sloped 1/4” per foot pan I poured the day before. Hence the reason for scraping and cleaning it prior to laying the liner. I also put pea-gravel at the drain before putting down the mud-bed mix. Soo…. Yeah. Thanks for watching non the less.

    Why didn’t you move the drain to the center of the shower? Amateur move. Also, weirdest way to do a pan I’ve ever seen.

    • @AxisHomesPlus
      @AxisHomesPlus Месяц назад

      Didn’t move the drain because that is an extra cost that the customer didn’t want to pay for. We work with every customers budget. Thanks for your input!

      @@wondersvideo8584 You may want to send Oatey a letter and let them know, seeing as this is the adhesive they recommend to use for this liner.

    Try Kerdi on a 4:1 GU packed and sloped pan Mix it to the wetness of beach sand. Never use 2by fours for a curb. … etc,etc

    How thick for the concrete base and how thick for the mud layer?

    • @AxisHomesPlus
      @AxisHomesPlus 2 месяца назад

      Good question. A lot of factors play into this like the height of your curb and drain. I don’t remember this specifics for this particular shower pan, as it was a while ago, but you really just wanna make sure you follow the product specifications. Most mud-bed-mix products you really shouldn’t go less than 3/8 inch think. I usually don’t like to do anything less than 1/2 inch thick. All my shower pans are sloped at a 1/4 inch of fall per foot.

    Going back to home depot is the worst. That's a gnarly screeding method. Do yourself a favor and make that segment a short with a banner "gnarly way to mud".

    never seen a jig like that, but kind of cool. i mean by the time you figure where to put it, level it, and screw it, i can have the perimeter done, but if it helps thats all that matters. i havent really changed to schluter, but have gone away from liner pans after 40 years. not that i ever had leaking issues with a liner, just figured i can alleviate a few issues that always bugged me. for one a water in water out system ends up a bit to high, just too high of a curb and customers never really liked that. another issue i hated was the extra flare out at the bottom and also the time it took to do the curb. i never screwed thru liner on inside of curb, so i always lathe and mudded which was time consuming. also because i didnt like embedding any wall boards into the mud and didnt screw thru the liner, i always felt the bottom of boards werent sufficiently secure. with a bonded drain, single slope pan, i alleviate all these 100 percent. i still do mud pans, but use a membrane on top and use a foam curb and foam wall boards (not schluter though) now i can screw all the way down to secure boards, no worries on curb and it takes less time, no flare out caused by the liner and overall height of shower floor is lessened by at least an inch. so for me its win across the board.
