The Importance of Daily Practice
Просмотров 1713 года назад
This video is about how daily practice not only supports you in the moment, but Shifu Matt also talks about how to stay inspired with a daily practice. There are two key ingredients: one is to remember why you started training in the first place and the second has to do with thinking about how you want to feel in the future.

It can be easy to loss track of how you’re using the body when practicing the first form. It is critical that students do not use any unintentional energy or power in this form. All that comes later. What you focus on grows. Focus on the right things and you won’t have to fix it later.

Lots of punching practice. We can not over emphasize the importance of daily intentional practice of the six (or seven) stages of punching in Ving Tsun. we like to do a lot of short reps; 4-5 punches then a break so your mind stays with what your doing and your technique doesn’t get sloppy.

    Wing Chun teaches us to confront troubles directly but to remain calm. This outlook translates well to everyday stress, and training is a good outlet for energy when we're unable to solve unsolvable issues in our lives. The inner ideas or focus are as important as the martial application.

    • @williamgriffin8436
      @williamgriffin8436 5 лет назад

      Mofotox You must REALLY suck ass at chi sao if you don't understand Gum Sao and it's use. Gum Sao can be very useful in coordination with your fook sao. Now SIFU Matt Jhonson may or may not be over using it. However you're not the one doing Chi Sao and do not know what he is feeling or sensing. If you knew anything about ch isao you would know that it's impossible to understand from a video everything that is going on unless you are the one feeling the energies and the lines. Ip ching is not making a mistake he knows EXACTLY what he's doing. I would bet my last dollar that any one of his students would DESTROY you're structure in chi sao. You are a troll of epic proportions for over 20 years so don't bother pasting your LAME comment I don't really give a shit about your thoughts on Wing Chun, Ving Tsun, tung sun or horse shit for that matter. you are a COWARD who harasses and trolls great Men.

    Whenever my trainer is teaching class and demonstrates a tan da or fook da on a hook, there's always this guy who says:"what about his other hand". I think this is where reality and your attributes come in, since a well timed tan and da will stun a person enough so they are defenseless to the followup. How much your opponent will be stunned will depend on your structure, position timing and force applied to their structure. If people dont wing wildy, but have time to set the hook up like as in boxing you are not in the same range anymore as in a street situation where someone tries to knock your head of without thinking.

    lol... try explaining that to people.. good luck... its what i always say.. you need forward intent.. driven from the elbow... using elbow and hips allows the body to synchronize and also root in the ground.. no offense to no one,, just my opinion.. cheers..

    Gum Sao can stop you if you provide a fixed structure. But I think i know what you are talking about - it is difficult to dissolve the structure. In trying to be like 'water' sometimes we turn into 'ice' without realizing. Bravo to the speed...some learning can still happen at this rate.

    lol, are you serious? Its all about keeping control man no matter what you opponent does aggressive chi sao or not pressing Gan Sao or not if you can't keep control your just a hitting target ;-) And trust me Ip ching lineage is all about keeping control. Samuel Kwok is my Si gung ive seen what it and who it can defeat if you dont mind me using that word.

    pressing on the arm for control of circular movements is fine but somebody with forward intent would give you great trouble. Respect to all ,wsl practioner.

  • @dollyjeanstevens
    @dollyjeanstevens 12 лет назад

    His fook sau is not hooking over his partners taan/bong sao rather at times preesing on the side of his opponents arm meaning that if you use inside pak he would find it difficult to regain the centre. By using fook sau ontop of his arm he could use jet/jaam sao to block inside pak sao.

  • @dollyjeanstevens
    @dollyjeanstevens 12 лет назад

    His riding fook sao is not over the top of his partners taan/bong for long periods of time meaning that by using inside pak sao he would find it very difficult to block it because he is not on top but on the side of his arm. I don't see anything to laugh at here. If you open your eyes you will see!

  • @dollyjeanstevens
    @dollyjeanstevens 12 лет назад

    have ago with your partner and try pressing gam sao and see how difficult it is to stop inside pak or other techiniques. If your training feeling here by using this pressing technique then fine but more aggressive chi sao would have you in trouble. Thanks for the great chi from Master Ip Ching.

  • @dollyjeanstevens
    @dollyjeanstevens 12 лет назад

    here is one for you all if you press with gaam sao instead of using a correct fook sao your in big trouble. you can be defeated with inside pak sao or taan da. You end up on the side of their arms instead of ontop where at least you can use jet sao or jaam sao to block. watch carefully and check out more kwok, ip ching chi sao and you will. Respect to all nice.chi sao and happy learning:-):-)

    Been watching lots of these videos lately, hard to find good wing chun on the internet. My sifu says the exact same, theres no need to hit somebody if you can control them and you are aware you can hit them and they cant hit you. This requires more skill than just throwing your hand forward really fast.
