Volusia County Beach Safety is actively seeking part-time lifeguards
In preparation for the upcoming summer season, Volusia County Beach Safety is actively seeking part-time lifeguards to ensure the safety of beachgoers. As part of its recruitment efforts, the organization has implemented an increased starting pay of $17 per hour, accompanied by the opportunity to earn up to $1,750 in bonuses.
Prospective candidates must meet the following criteria: be at least 16 years old on or before June 1, demonstrate the ability to swim 500 meters freestyle in under 10 minutes, swim 50 yards freestyle in under 30 seconds, and complete a half-mile run in under 3 minutes and 15 seconds. What happened to the dunlawton stream? It was so helpful seeing the waves...why is there 7 new streams for ormond and none for dunlawton?
These webcams are always going down. You need somebody new looking after them.

I have seen people struggling, swimming against the rip and not getting anywhere, and clearly starting to panic.... "put your feet down" I yelled to them... they gave me a questioning semi panicked look, I repeated myself.... "PUT YOUR FEET DOWN"... they did, and were surprised to find that they were in only waist deep water.
This video could have been more towards self rescue - saving yourself is probably most likely thing to happen as there is rarely a Life Guard or Policeman strategically placed the very moment you need them. A one minute video is not even a good faith effort.

Wheres beach patrol in there 100 000 $ trucks unless never once has a beach patrol got out of truck to save someone someone in water only there to bust people minor infraction waist of tx $ get rid of beach patrol life guards and sheriff enough do a better job

I spend a lot of time on the beach and I have seen them in action . God bless them all . They do a fantastic job !
Actually, I'm glad there's law enforcement on the beach now. I see them more often that I ever saw the red Beach Patrol trucks. What I would like to see though is enforcement of the speed of all vehicles.....making sure vehicles are driving with the window down.....and staying off their phones and texting as they pass down the beach. Making sure beach goers without vehicles not take a vehicle spot. And others coming with their vehicles and setting up their tents and chairs on the side of their car, often just saving the spot for friends who aren't coming until much later. Another thing is people stopping with their vehicles at the beach food trucks like it was a drive-up restaurant.
In other words, the beach patrol will continue to rock ...😝😎👣
