My name is Jamie Bassnett and I am from Manchester in the north west of England. As you have probably already guessed, I have a lifelong passion for the great outdoors. I’ve been regularly hiking, cycling and camping all over Britain for the past two decades.
At the beginning of 2023 I decided to start a You Tube channel to share my future adventures and compliment my website. My goal is to inspire others to get outdoors. By sharing my own outdoor adventures and providing tools such as descriptions, route maps, photographs, hill lists and gear checklists. I hope to inspire others to get outside and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of the great outdoors.

Greenbooth Reservoir, Heywood, Greater Manchester - 16th September 2024
A short walk with Wellington and Paddy. This was our first time at Greenbooth Reservoir which is situated just north of Heywood in Greater Manchester. We had originally planned to visit the Naden Reservoirs which are directly above this one. However, the access road proved to be a lot rougher than expected. So, we opted for a simpler walk at the lower Greenbooth Reservoir instead. Despite losing weight recently, I am extremely lacking in hill fitness and carrying two injuries. Paddy is also still recovering from his cruciate operation. So, we took it easy and enjoyed a gentle stroll.

A short walk with the Wellington and Paddy to one of our favourite quiet spots in the West Pennine Moors. Turton Heights is located above the the Turton and Entwistle Reservoir in the West Pennine Moors in Lancashire, just off the main road between Bolton and Blackburn.

An evening local walk with Wellington and Paddy. Despite living in the city, we also live only half a mile from the stunning Irwell Valley. This is our local walk and it really does feel like you are in the countryside. The giant hogweed we saw was absolutely huge. The fresh air, nature and bird song was very much needed and appreciated. The dogs had fun too as you can see.

GM Ringway stage 5 of 20. This is the fifth of twenty stages making up the new GM (Greater Manchester) Ringway. A 186 mile long distance walking route that encircles Greater Manchester. This moderate stage takes you from Middlewood to Strines via Lyme Park. The start and finish of each stage is accessible using public transport. The stages vary in length and difficulty.

Photos from a walk on Cleeve Hill, the County Top of Gloucestershire. Next time you travel far by motorway, take a packed lunch, pull off the motorway and explore a nearby hill. It beats sitting in a minging food court paying extortionate prices for crap food with no view.

My annual visit to Risley Moss, my favourite place to go for an autumn walk. The trees are absolutely stunning at this time of the year. It is a wonderful place with a fascinating past. Wellington and Paddy had fun chasing Squirrels and getting themselves filthy dirty in the fallen leaves and wet woodlands. If you live in the Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington area I highly recommend this place....
