About this recording Hi I'm Drew and this is my 2nd ever audiobook, it took 4 months to complete. I loved growing up in the 90s watching the Neon Knight and playing with the action figures from Kenner. I was a big fan of the Legends of the Batman toy line as well as Batman Forever and B&R. Batman Forever on the Sega Genesis was also a game I sunk hundreds of hours into and had completely memori...

Great car vid! I have to get one! Not as sure about the figures, as they look so....toy like. But that is your turf! Glad you have so much new to play with! Can you believe all this love? So sorry ole Joel isn't around to see all this!
Thanks Les. Yeah, I can't believe all the new figures we're getting this year. I think Joel would be thrilled with it all.
I honestly love the new one better than the original Kenner released in 1995 due to it being more movie accurate. I hated the split fin at the top for some reason. I never knew about the 3 vehicle version until years later.
Yeah it's pretty great
Do you know if the wings from the single release kenner batwing will fit into this?
Good question. Let me dig them out later and I'll see.
Luckily I managed to get all the figures and the Batmobile at Target. Though they are overall disappointing figures…I’m absolutely thrilled that there has been so much new Batman Forever merchandise over the last year. Great idea on the blue lighting as that’s the only drawback of the wonderful Mcfarlane vehicle including Alfred. Great video as always. Looking forward to your reviews on the rest of the Spin Master figures when you get them!
Thanks. Yeah I feel the same. Will hopefully get the single figures soon. Still need to review all the McFarlane Forever figures.
Thanks for reviewing this, bud! I'm so glad there's still a continuing influx of Batman Forever merchandise.
Yeah it's kind surreal to see new stuff on shelves.
Very awesome my friend. Definitely a cool comparison and a awesome review. Definitely brings back memories of having these toys when I was a kid. Hope all is well with you hope you and the family are doing well stay awesome my friend take care
Thanks for checking out the video.
I didn't know that they were using the old Kenner scale for these Forever figures & Batmobile, that's awesome. I thought McFarlane had that size locked down due to Super Powers. I wish they'd made that decision before the '89 Batwing they released last year because I need to keep that thing quite a ways away from the Kenner stuff to not look tiny. I suppose they wanted to keep it roughly in scale with the matching Batmobile they released in the Flash movie line. The figure choices they made are quite bizarre, though, since I'm certain none of the original tooling still exists and they recreated the figures from scratch. As you pointed out they replicated the wrong Batman, but also the wrong Robin and the lesser of the Riddlers. I wish toy companies were more willing to chat about these kinds of decisions.
Yeah it was very surprising to see Spin Masters make this. I guess McFarlanewere do busy with 6 inch figures.. I too wish the Batwing and 85th anniversary figures were a consistent size with these.
🦇🦇🦇🦇
Really cool! I've seen some videos that customize their vehicle with neon blue lighting. I always think of the Michael Hutchence cover "The Passenger" when I see this Batmobile roll in action.
Yeah, it's very easy to customise. The interior is already translucent blue. Almost makes me think they were going to include a light and then thought "Nah", let's keep it cheap. Love that song. To he honest, they're no real bad ones on the whole soundtrack.
@1995Batman If you ever get the Spin Master Robin (or use one of the Robin figures you already have) you can recreate the scene with Dick taking the Batmobile for a joyride. 😂
Great review. I've seen the car at Targets but not the figures.
Yeah the figures seem to be tough to find in places. The Batmobile is much more common.
You need to do a story time video of your history with Batman Forever! Your first time seeing it and why you like the film so much. Would love to hear your thoughts
Yes, I’ll definitely get a video like that done soon. Probably time it for the 30th anniversary in June.
Ordered mine from Amazon and it says it's being delivered in July?!
Yeah mine initially said July but then got an email saying it was shipping over the weekend. I don't think you'll have to wait that long.
@@1995Batman Wonderful news! My friend bought the single figures and is shipping me to them soon. He also bought a spare Batmobile just in case I needed it, but hopefully I'll have my own sooner than later! I wish I could have been in charge of the line haha, I would have made the figures way more accurate using existing Kenner pieces, but still - they're super fun and I'm stoked to get them!
Awesome. Yeah, for the price point I can't be too mad about what Spin Master did. Nice to have a few more variants for the shelf.
I love your videos and sometimes I wish you had a 1992 Batman channel with all the animated Batman stuff on it 😭
Thanks man, would love to do that at some point but there's still so much Schumacher stuff to keep up with.
Are you going the a single card figures of Batman Robin riddler and Harvey Two-Face
Yes, as soon as I can find some. The Batmobile is being sold by Amazon UK at the moment but there's no listing for the single figures. I'm sure they'll show up later this year.
the giant Bat, via a theory is Man-Bat. there's his scene with the name Bruce vs man-bat or something, but it's said to be a reference of that character. but was deleted as people would HAVE THOUGHT Manbat was in the film
Could be. It's a pretty over the top theatrical moment.
Did you buy them in package or loose?
These ones I got loose. The carded ones are double the price and I tend to open everything anyway.
Perception: frozen henchman. Reality: shelf warmer.
Nailed it 👌
Remember my story about when I almost met Arnold Schwarzenegger so I could get him to sign my Mr. Freeze action figure? I'm still hoping one day I'll get him to sign that figure and this Funko pop. Someday...
Good luck 🫡
Will Friedle, but he seems more like a Terry McGinnis to me 😜
It sounds a little weird to say this, but in 1997 Joseph Gordon Levitt would have been perfect.
Brandis is a great choice if you really have to go much younger but Chris was a great choice. There are 17 year olds who do look late 20s due to their hard excercise regiment
Depp
Might be a little old but I can see it.
@1995Batman Well my first thought was Johnathan Taylor Tomas, but he was still pretty young. Maybe Dicaprio could have pulled it off?
a nobody actor
Good choice 👌
Well as dick greyson was supposed to be 11 in the comics Alan Richards , or Kevin ziggers
Do you mean Alan Ritchson (ie. Jack Reacher)?
❤🎉
He's already been mentioned in the comments, and it's the least inspired choice ever, but I could see Edward Furlong being cast as Dick Grayson/Robin in the mid-'90s. I would understand, let's say, if Warner Bros. wanted a "name" actor (given that 1995 was only a few years removed from _Terminator 2: Judgment Day_ being released), and Furlong was probably the most prolific teenage actor at the time. Studios want things that audiences are familiar with, and casting someone who had already played a rebellious kid in a gigantic summer blockbuster that's still discovering his place in the world (or finding his potential, in Grayson's case) is the safe decision for WB. The question is if Furlong would have had the acting chops to pull off the more dramatic scenes in _Batman Forever_ (like in the alleyway when Grayson unleashes his anger on Batman for not stopping Two-Face, and then the follow-up to that in the Batcave.) I don't think so. The only issue I ever had with the adult-aged Chris O'Donnell being cast as Dick Grayson is the fact Bruce Wayne makes a non-incapacitated adult his ward. That's the knock on O'Donnell. Even though _Batman Forever_ hits all the beats of a good Robin origin story, his adult appearance unfortunately makes that earnestness a bit comical. (I also agree with Kevin Smith from his commentary all those years that having a teenage-aged actor play Robin would have made the ending, when Batman catches Robin from falling in Claw Island, a lot more inpactful.) That said, O'Donnell did a good job holding his own and carrying the emotional weight needed for the character in the film. Ultimately, the character being a ward (and being played by an adult no less) is what separates him from the first couple of live-action Spider-Man. Tobey Maguire, for example, looked older in 2000-'02 than how O'Donnell looked in 1994-'95 (even though the two were about the same age in those respective years when their movies were being filmed). However, while it looks silly that Maguire was playing a high school senior/college freshman in the first _Spider-Man_ film, it had long been the norm that you cast actors in their 20s or even 30s to play younger (since there are labor laws to abide by for actors under the age of 18). Tom Holland was the first time a live-action Spider-Man actually looked like a high schooler (when the character is still in high school), and it obviously helped that he was cast when he was only 19. That, and the fact his first five appearances in the M.C.U. were completed by the time Holland was still only 22-23 in real life.
Good points. Yeah I think Chris is great at all the emotional scenes in Batman Forever. I'm glad he was cast. If you watch his scenes, he's in a completely different emotional state each time we see him. It's almost like the "seven stages of grief". I think a teen actor like Edward Furlong might have struggled with that. I wished they had added some kind of extra explanation as to why Gordon brings him to Bruce and why he chooses to stay. Like he's got to stay in Gotham for his parents' funeral and to fill in paperwork for a month. I guess you're right it's only really recently that we've stopped using people in their 20-30s to play teenagers. I just remembered Tom Welling is meant to be 14-15 in the first season of Smallville.
Tom Holland may be an interesting fit.
Just found out Tom Holand wasn't born until 1996 🤯 now I feel old
Hard to think of anyone but Chris in the role but DiCaprio would have been about 20 in 1994 when they were filming so….it would have to be him! I never liked the idea of Robin being a child in the comics though. I personally like that Chris looked older. It’ll be interesting to see how old Damian Wayne will be when he is cast for Brave and the Bold.
DiCaprio is a solid choice. Yeah, I prefer it when Robin is older too. I actually quite liked Brenton Thwaites in Season 1 of Titans when he was in the Robin costume. I reckon they'll make Damian Wayne quite young in the Brave and the Bold movie. Not a huge fan of that character. Give me Tim Drake any day.
@@1995Batman Yeah Thwaites looked great especially in the Nightwing suit. Titans just went way overboard with all the language and nudity for me. If it made narrative sense it would have been fine but it felt like they were just doing it because they could. I agree…Tim Drake is my second favorite Robin after Dick Grayson. I wish they weren’t doing Damian but hopefully it’s great!
Ever since customizing my 1/6 scale Mr Freeze, I have wanted to try to snag one of these for my display. So nice to see one intact and how it all works and all. I loved that fanciful location in the movie, and really need to snag one of these mini sets. Great vid as always and thanks for getting in there and showing this one off!
You're welcome Les. Definitely have a hunt for this one. I have to say a 1/6 figure would dwarf this though.
Ed Furlong
Yes, I was waiting for someone to suggest him.
Spider Smith figure triggers major trypophobia
Had to look up what that means! Yes, very much so.
I want to buy them
Keep an eye out on eBay, I see these often
I live in mexico and i found them in mercado libre im just saving enough money because i want to buy another things
@@1995Batman well actually i juts want 2 of them the batboat and the batwing
I kinda prefered Robin being older. Also, probably the only young actor i could think at that tme could resemble robin might have been Elijah Wood
Same, it never bothered me. Elijah's an interesting choice. Hadn't thought of him.
I don't have a problem with the age. Bruce and Dick had a brotherly relationship. This made much more challenging in their relationship, as mentoring a grown man, and swaying him away from vengeance is more challenging than if he was a child.
Yeah, I feel having him be a kid or teenager would have fundamentally changed the tone of the film. I'm happy they aged him up.
I''ve no problem with the way they went, but if they had gone for someone in their early teens, ironically in 1994 Joseph Gordon Levitt would have been a decent choice
Yeah, hadn't even thought of him.
Nobody, for me Chris O'Donnell is the best pick, still my favorite Robin...i like you support Batman Forever, it's the perfect Batman movie for me... along with Batman Returns and Batman Dark Knight my absolute favorite movie.
Thanks. Yeah I actually really O'Donnell in Batman Forever (much more than other films I've seen him in). He gets some really good scenes (particularly the ones with Alfred) and a nice character arc.
@1995Batman he actually started his career very well, so one of his first films was "Scent of Woman" with Al Pacino, for which Al Pacino won an Oscar, and Chris also played the role very well. Of course, the highlight of his career are Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, after that he didn't really have any notable roles, except in the series NCSI La. But I love him, in my opinion he was the perfect Robin.
Yeah, I still need to see Scent of a Woman. I really enjoy him in Three Musketeers too.
I recall reading or hearing an interview about Joel having Corey Haim in mind for Robin, because he had previously worked with Corey on The Lost Boys. But at the time of Batman Forever, Corey was a big drug addict, and Joel had said that he'd need to stop that if he wanted the role. But apparently Corey couldn't stop and his career and life went way downhill. I think Corey could've been great as Robin, he was an awesome young actor. However, I'm more than fine with Chris' portrayal of the character.
Yeah, a couple of years earlier Corey Haim would have a great. He was great at playing cocky characters. Sad what happened to him. You know he has a 1 second cameo in Batman & Robin as one of the people watching the biker race?
@@1995Batman It's absolutely sad what happened to Corey Haim. Though I'm fairly sure (I could be wrong!) it was actually Corey Feldman (Corey Haim's real life friend) who has the cameo in Batman & Robin? It definitely sounds like him.
Ah, I checked and you're right, it's Corey Haim. I was misremembering! 😄
Dont know if its true but always remember the story about it being between Odonnel and Dicaprio, that apparently they did a survey thing with a bunch of kids and the kids said Leonardo is a wimp Chris would kick his butt so they went with Odonnell 😂
Yeah, I heard that one too. I think Joel told that it - that he went to a comiccon and asked kids who they thought would win in a fight. I don't know that I can really believe it though. DiCaprio would have been good too. He was great in the early 90s.
It's a shame what happened to Johnathan Brandis... 😢 Loved him in IT 🤡🎈
@richardpaulcaird9192 yeah, he's dead now.
Of course, he was in the IT mini series too. Yeah very sad what happened.
@1995Batman yeah!
Steve Urkell.
@VenusHeadTrap2 yeah, him too.
🤣 we have a winner 🏆
@1995Batman oh.
This is why I'm not a casting directior. I can't make decisions. I know Marlon Wayans had arragements during Returns' pre-production, but he's only a couple of years younger than Chris; so I think the too-old criticisim would still apply. I recently saw Chris in the movie "Circle of Friends" he did shortly before he did Batman Forever. He also did another movie with Drew Barrymore right before they shot for Batman as well.
Yes, Mad Love. I saw that recently. He plays a 17/18 year old in that one too.
@@markhickman5988 yeah.
@@1995Batman exactly.
@@1995Batman On the subject of Chris, I just got my Spin Master Robin figure from Target. Pretty sweet metallic green on it!
@markhickman5988 Oh nice! I have the Spin Master Batmobile coming this weekend. No sign of the figures in the UK yet 😢
I had no problem with Robin being older.
Yup, it never bothered me. Everyone looked older in 90s TV and movies.
@@1995Batman Exactly.
I also had no issue with Chris O’Donnell as Robin but given the question I’d pick Rider Strong who would’ve been about 16 at the time. He played Sean on Boy Meets World where I think he showed he had the attitude for Dick Greyson pretty down
I see.
Rider Strong is a great pick. I used to watch Boy Meets World all the time.
@@1995Batman Me too.
Just found about this product and was sure to find the review on this great channel :) I was wondering if you have the MiniCo Batman figure? ++
Haven't picked up the minico figures yet. Waiting to find some at a good price.
4:01 Always thought this may be when Dick ran the Batmobile through town, ''the other car, Sir'' scene.
Yeah you're probably right
Should have been Keaton. The chopping and changing of 3 different Bruce's with the same Alfred feels weird.
7:28 may be from earlier, when they met before Batman goes after Two-Face.
PSYCHED to 'read' this - keep up the good work!
You’ve read it. Whether it’s listening or holding it in your hands.
I think that lowering function on the telescope might be simulating when it chrashes through the building at the end of the movie, I wanted to add that function on my lego MOC of the building but it would be too complicated .
