Argo Magnums in back country - Marshland
New Brunswick here, just bought a 2008 Argo and I'm thinking I have to pull the motor to replace the starter. Great video!
It will probably be easiest to pull the engine, not much to it! thanks for stopping by. Good luck with your project
@muddythumper8152 Thanks for the reply, I'm down to two nuts and I should be able to pull the motor. Everything is tight though, had to use a mirror and a really short wrench to get the nuts holding the motor to the frame. Bought this to get to the camp in the winter. I can hardly wait to use it! Cheers!
Good helpful vid, thanks for sharing your knowledge and the link. (Parts of the vid with no background music are much easier to get through)
2 minutes of average information crammed into 20 minutes

Newfoundland accent. Big time.
Just bought and ex mud rig I’m gonna flat bed. Just stumbled across this and it turned out sweet. You don’t happen to have all of your lengths and materials do yah? I haven’t listened to the first one yet if it’s in there.
You’re an idiot for not showing any of the stuff we needed to see.
Loved the vid
Where’s the deep snow?
Great video. Really clear and easy to understand how to set it up and it’s reason for existing
I have the same sled
Wondering where you get your Big Red parts?
@@lesrawding7554 I collected them from market place , classifieds , etc over the years
I had one those years ago and 1st thing I did was disconnect oil pump. Plastic cogs not to faithful in those. Strong engines. Last a long time. Tks for sharing
How did you get the wood into the channels?
I’m taking inspiration from the outlaw kits I’m making my own lift Kit for a 85 ymt 200 I guess nobody has lifted one so I’m going to I can do it with under 200 bucks I already have the steel plat just need to get to cutting and welding
I have 89 magnum , id like to get tracka for it , wouldnt know what tracks would fit and if i need spacers/extension, i have 24 inch tires , so many tracks out there and do see 18 inch rubber tracks
@@johnny_boy7612 usually with magnums they’re 22 inch tires. If you have 24 inch tires you might not have a lot of body clearance on top. 13 inch plastic tracks are a standard size. I wouldn’t run rubber tracks on the old machine because it wouldn’t have a lot of power to pull them realistically. If you run wider then 13 inch you’ll need wheel spacers to clear the tub. You can also made hybrid tracks. Look up homemade Adair style tracks , they’re a rubber metal type track. Tracks are ideal for bog, marsh , snow and heavy mud. I’ve been using my 6x6 without tracks 80% of the year and just throw them on during the winter. 24 inch tires take the same size track as 22 inch tires just make sure you got tub clearance that’s all
I find it a fairly rare thing to find exactly what I’m looking for straight out of the gate but here it is! Great video. Tanks B’y!
@@NealNeallix no problem me ol trout! We got a few sleds kicking around. Soon time for some more sled content lol
Thanks for the help!
I'm going to take out a 2024 Argo Xplorer XRT 600 2-up at the dealer tomorrow. How have things worked out with yours since you posted the new bike review? Any mechanical issues? So hard to find reviews and information on these ATVs. Curious if they can handle the Canadian winter too.
@@yield9 I’ve been meaning to do a long ride video soon , time just goes by too quick. No issues with my bike , tgb Canada is expanding meaning parts will be more available. I still love my bike. I’ll try to get a new video of the bike this weekend , weather dependent. I’m in Newfoundland we get bad winters here, I only used her in light snow. No issues with it. If it’s heavy snow I’ll take the 6x6 with tracks or snowmobile. Good luck with it! I’d take my Argo quad any day all around this place. I bought her new so I don’t tear it up and don’t be hard on it. Can’t afford to destroy my toys ! All the best - muddy
@@yield9 also if you wanna talk to Argo quad owners or read reviews , join my fb group called Argo xplorer atv and SxS. I couldn’t find any reviews either , but enjoying mechanics I took a chance and didn’t regret it.
My ATC,110 starts easy, the first time, but then just cuts out and it’s really hard to start
Hi mate has anyone put motorbike engines in an argo?, id buy an old one with a buggered engine and stick a honda vtr 1000cc in it as i have a good engine in my shed ,cheers 🏴🍺
@@Filthyanimalyeh there’s a video of one on RUclips somewhere, some guy had a motorcycle engine in one. To me it wouldn’t be as nice cause then you have a clutch and gears which would make a Argo pretty challenging to drive with the turning and changing gears. See if you can find like a 20 hp diesel engine or something similar. Snowmobile engine, or something like that. Not sure if you have princess auto over there. We see 713cc engines go on sale all the time for 1000$ cad. Heck even powerful snowblower engine would do it. I’d just stick to high hp like 20+. Cheers -muddy

@@bearhart1799 make sure your carbs are clean, she could be flooding herself. Check the plugs after it stalls. Also ignition coil for your plug could be getting bad. They usually heat up and lose spark when they are old and work out

Black wire is the dim function of a 12v light. So your b/u lights would be a ton brighter if you used the red wire instead of the black Also, as an alternative to resistors, you can wire in an additional incandescent light on each side. If you don’t want them to be seen from the outside you can even zip tie them up underneath the pickup so they shine at the ground. Gives a neat red glow on the ground under the pickup and it obviously blinks with your blinkers which can look cool at night. You can also tie them up completely so you can’t tell they are there at all. There have been times I’ve left the factory wiring intact so I could just plug in the factory bulb to get sufficient resistance and spliced the led taillights in somewhere upstream a little bit. But in both cases, don’t tie them to any wiring because they both produce a lot of heat and can melt the coating clean off causing a short
Hey I have a 1980 Honda atc 185s I’m looking to lift don’t have the money for a swamp outlaw lift kit how would I build my own?
@@kaydendelahoussaye8752 pretty easy, on the rear you can some nice steel plate and fab up some brackets or take the rear carrier and but the top bolt into the bottom one for the frame then weld on or bolt on a lower bracket.
