Color doesn’t lift color. Her base color is very dark. Looks Like a level 4, even with 20 volume a permanent dye that’s multiple levels lighter won’t do much of anything especially on hair that’s already been dyed. If it’s virgin hair you’ll get a little more lift but rarely the level needed to contrast enough for highlights. The hair has to be lightened first and then gone in with the correct level toner after to achieve the desired color. After bleaching a demi permanent color to tone would be the better option but regardless the hair needs to be lightened before colored lighter.

@klbs I disagree. If you pick the correct color, permanent dye CAN lift dark hair adequately for highlights or even lift it a few levels. You are correct that color doesn't lift color. I am talking about virgin hair. I have never had any issues getting my dark virgin hair (level 2/3) to an auburn or lighter, sandier brown using 20 volume developer and dark blonde shades of permanent color. I used a honey blonde permanent color shade mixed with a cocoa brown shade for years to bring my dark hair to a medium reddish brown color (about a level 5-6) that was gorgeous. No damage, either.

Hi Jackelin! I was able to wear it my whole 8 hour work day before the bottom got a bit floppy (from condensation and my oily skin.) I carried a lash glue with me just in case but didn't end up needing it. Although the bottom felt loose the nose stayed securely in place until removal.
