@@thencandesigns I did have one review may have been before I changed the URL 4 years ago (WDS), but it was still showing. I changed my business address after watching your video yesterday. I had been getting calls from Google soliciting, and i wouldn't answer. I finally talked to them, and they said that with one of the 2 sites I have (where I saw the old review and pictures WDS) wasn't showing up in my area, customers couldn't find me. That gladly offered to charge me $300 to update it, so i ended the call. I can't recall if that site was already verified because I could change images and info. But my other website (GO2) was suspended, and both are found in Google Search if you know the company name, but I didn't have all the update options. Then, I noticed the suspended message. I offer this as a service stepped away for a while, and so much has changed. Trued outsourcing to others so called pros and got nothing in return. So I started researching on my own and getting reconnected

First off, anyone calling “from Google” that doesn’t ask a question like, “Are these your hours?” Is a scammer. IF THEY EVER ASK FOR MONEY, THEY ARE NOT GOOGLE. Sorry for yelling, that’s for future skimmers 😉 Gotcha. GBP management is good and a nice service to offer when things are going smoothly… and a true pain in the rear when it’s not. I’m away from my computer for a few days. Nudge me if you don’t hear back by Monday 🫡

@thencandesigns Now, both websites require verification in the Google business profile manager. There Is a pencil icon to edit a camera to add photos and a get verified button. Haven't touched anything yet. I selected a photo that allowed me to upload another one, the others are still pending, and it's asking for a mailing address, so I am providing it so they will mail a postcard, I suppose. The business is home-based; hopefully, the address won't be public. And wouldn't you know the button for next isn't responding? If finally did now it's still asking for business video. SMH

Good question, and tough one to answer here. You have 4 locations, but how many will you *ever* have? If it’s more, than GBP rules say you do same name and it will be different locations on the backend (think Walmart). If you have 4 or fewer, it might make sense to keyword stuff names, however, if Google catches on, your name will be changed and you *could* get suspended. You asked about citations, but GBP is the most important citation, make sure you get that right. Other question is: Do these each have a landing page under one main domain? If so, just build the citations toward the main page. Let me know if you have further questions.

Not saying you should build *any* citations to local pages, just don’t wanna start there.

That's a good question. I don't believe it says anything about having to speak in Google's rules, so I'd say you can try. But I mean, you have to do the shot in one take at the business location (or your home, if a service area business), so you're likely the business owner, a staff member, or a local agency. @@VikramP-jb4no, this is a great question. And please, DON'T DO THIS!!! Here are the reasons you can "stuff" keywords into your GBP business name: 1. It's in your legal business name 2. You file a DBA (doing business as, the name varies by state, country) with your keyword in it 3. It's how you represent your business in *all* of your marketing material That's it. Honestly, it's not a good idea to do this. Some people get away with it for a while, but eventually, someone will report it. And if you're being super sketchy, you can get suspended 😬 I'd focus on other tactics 💪

This will just get you to the verification step. Nowadays, there are two really common ways to be verified: 1. Emailed code (if Google can tell your business is legit, they'll just send a code) - we love this one!! 2. Video verification. Sorry for the late reply! If you go down the niche rabbit hole, then yes, you're going to want to target national SEO. However, I think "How to Price Plumbing Services" won't match the intent of what people are looking for. I'd have to do keyword research, but I'm guessing people are searching something like "How to get more leads online for my plumbing business?" Let me know how things go!!

If you’re referring to GBP Posts (now called Updates), absolutely. Here’s my strategy: Make a post introducing your biz pointing to the homepage Make a post for each service you offer and point it back to that service page Make a post about the founder pointing to the about page Rinse. Repeat. Don’t spend too much time on these, as they’re not big ranking factors. Focus on optimizing your GBP right, then focus on getting more, and better, and consistent reviews 💪

I don’t *hate* blogging. I just think for local SEO, there are so many other boxes we should be checking on our way to blogging. I think most SEOs use it as a “box” to check so they have a deliverable each month. I think more sinister agencies are using these to drive vanity metrics (impressions, visitors) when really $$$ is all that matters to the client. Do we need impressions and visitors? Yes. But send those to the “money” pages: homepage, services, locations; build out your supporting pages later.

Thanks for the comment! Now, it should be a 2-hour driving radius only, and I've also heard to limit it to 20 locations - but I try to do WAYYY less. I've also heard it's better to put cities than zip codes. I would NOT put a whole state, that's probably too big. Even if you live in Rhode Island, I'd still put cities. The one exception is a big metro city, then MAYBE I would consider zip codes to target specific regions of the city. That said, GBP service is either a) NOT a ranking factor (historically, it's been considered not a ranking factor), or b) it's SOMETIMES a ranking factor (and that's typically only if you pick ONE service area city that is close to your [hidden] map pin location). Hope that's not too confusing lol What I do: Pick the cities/towns nearby that my clients *actually* serve, move on to the next task 💪 Let me know if you have any more GBP questions!!
