This is wild I was just wondering how many more years I want to pour into OSRS in order to accomplish some of my account goals and made me wonder how long the game will even exist for, will my kid be able to or even want to play OSRS? Will I hand my accounts down generationally? I’ve been playing OSRS since 2007 so this game is forever very special to me. Loved hearing your thoughts.

i love the idea of old school as a weird amorphous always-reincarnating beast. you cant shut it down or ruin it with bad updates forever, because somebody somewhere is just going to make another copy. one day somebody is going to find an old 2026 backup of a private server on their hard drive that becomes 2026scape, then 2087scape, 2200scape, etc. it's kind of beautiful to imagine a medieval rock clicker game outliving us all

What do you think OSRS will look like in a decade?

Potion storage I feel, should just make all pots in the bank not take up inventory space. The storage doesn't work with inventory setups plugin either which some people including me only use inventory setups and not bank tags. It completely messes it up.

overall i think the debate was minor but overall i think runelite will be canned eventually my tin foil hat theory too. i really want to choose varlamore on leagues my main fear is the colosseum tasks which i wont be able to do.

I imagine that they model the drop tables before launch so maybe their understanding of what players value is incorrect. But I had to laugh how Oxie contradicted himself so hard on the drop tables.

I have not explored Varlamore pt 2 at all and I feel like I haven't explored/experienced Pt 1 much either But it'll come, copefully ^^ My main issue just not knowing what i want with my current account and just struggling to be motivated consistently

Wrathmaw being voted no! Jagex has already created bosses where every player has their own boss hp bar. If Wrathmaw was out of the wildy, spawned on a schedule, randomly from a set of different locations, and could only be killed once per player per spawn, I would vote yes.

In their discord Q&A on the private servers alot of the concerns were tackled. Worth checking out if they upload it sometime. New updates won't be on the servers for couple months and there will be a clear way to distinguish achievements on main game compared to those servers.

Before I give some harsh criticism let me preface by saying I absolutely love this podcast so much. And I'm not going to stop listening/supporting anytime soon Important to remember that 90% of players will never get to the point you all are at. Elitism is not relatable and y'all have nothing to prove!! I look up to you guys. I don't really enjoy reading patch notes (and they are sometimes confusing to me) and so I like listening to this podcast to learn about whats happening to the game. But when you brush over new content as +3000 hour player because it's not relevant to you it bums me out. Obviously it's easier said than done, we all see the world from our own POV after all. Just saying that if you want to level up as content creators you need cover the new news with all peeps in mind. <3

You're high level slayer yet only got 10 shards? Are you Fr? I did a lot of Konar, so missed on a lot of shards, yet easily have 5 dozen sitting in bank. Shards are fine.

there's something extremely funny about runescape originally having an hd update in 2008, then rolling the clock back to 2007 in 2013, then coming out with an hd update again in 2024

The whole private server thing just feels like a direct result of the Jagex buyout. They need to increase profit to please stock holders now and they can't put in mtx without killing the game so they're gonna try and monetize us more this way. Really curious what the pricing is gonna be like. I really don't want this in the game. Also, I agree with Oxie on the video. J1mmy dropped the ball HARD!

The boss is made for pkers, no pvm or iron will notice a difference if it would be added… people with less than 250 kills in the wilderness shouldn’t be able to vote to any pk content.

Thanks for having me, and thanks for adding the part about how appreciative we are about how consistently good the updates have been! The OSRS jmods work their ass off and put up with a lot of shit, and this game we all wouldn’t be as awesome as it is without their hard work and dedication!

If private servers can replicate leagues then leagues are going to have to step it up a notch.

In 2024, we've had 7 new quests including a grand master quest. 4 new PvM encounters, (moons, scurrius, araxxor and the coliseum). The hunter's guild was added and hunter rumors. A new prayer training method. With a lot of these packaged with a new bloody continent. We've had more content released for OSRS in 2024 than in any previous year since OSRS launched, and we're only 3/4 of the way though the year. People who are saying sailing isn't worth it because it's taking too much development time are insane. Reality is, sailing is something they've had on the back burner letting it cook for awhile while they solved the hard problems. The unity project was new hires and outside teams mostly recreating OSRS, not the main developers of the game. Also, a new skill is the most complicated and difficult part of OSRS. The team has no experience with developing new skills, and you have so much work that has to go into creating it and figuring out how it will interact with every other part of the game. Nobody has to think about a new raid might affect and interact with other skills like hunter, woodcutting, construction, etc. If they touch those skills at all, they're consumers and won't affect the wider supply, demand and opportunities those skill have. Any new skill was going to take a year+ to figure that out, and we all knew we were voting for the most ambitious skill with sailing. Let the cooks fucking cook.

Crazy idea, what if they did a new raid but it was in fremmenik area and was about the penguins. Insanely schizophrenic but I think it would be very funny if Cold War 2 came to this and was a master quest

For how much I'd rather see shamanism than sailing, and for how against sailing I am as a concept, part of me is excited at the potential implications for what creative advancements can come as a byproduct of this movement system (and what's essentially a game entity) re-design. Like even if they scrap sailing right this second, they've still experimented with concepts and developed tech that could be deployed on land. Slow-moving platforms across raids, for example. Giant machines that can be boarded as they walk across the overworld. Whatever. Point is, there's a lot they could repurpose these struggles into. And that's sick from a creative perspective. But between the two, shamanism just felt much more like Runescape to me. Sailing as a concept feels like it has to be external to OSRS by its very nature. And their struggles in development are a direct reflection of this exact issue. Designing things the game was never meant to do, in places the game was never meant to go, to do things the game was never meant to offer. In other words, NOT runescape. It's just the way that it is.

IMO they missed a very important question after the sailing vs shamanism poll. The question being "Sailing has been voted on as the most liked of the skill proposals, should we develop it more? yes or no. It never passed a 70% poll, and while I get thats because it hasn't been voted in yet. A skill is a huge endeavor and the concept of the skill alone should be good enough to get a 70% vote to be pursued. Personally, I liked the shamanism the best as it sounded the most like a traditional skill, but none of the skill proposals interested me all that much and they should have proposed more options.
