You have used a GM spec oil which isn't good practice in a BMW. The filter housing & drain bolt should be done up to 25Nm.

I did the same placing the oil filter first when I changed the oil on my 23 G82 M4. It’s almost impossible to put in place if it is placed in the housing first.
